It looks like Johnson is getting ready to call an election

So why might that be? (genuine question, struggling to follow all this stuff)
Is he anticipating a huge win, giving him a mandate for what he does next? A bit like May in 2017?

No she wasn't saying labour will block a ge if before 31 Oct, they are saying rhe opposite, if they think Boris will move it and make it after 31 Oct they will block it. They want the election before and a legal guarantee he won't get them to vote for it on 14 Oct then change the date when he gets the vote.

PostNotInHaste · 03/09/2019 08:36

^^But his shadow cabinet colleague Tony Lloyd told Newsnight that Labour would not "fall for Boris Johnson's trick" by agreeing to a general election before 31 October.
"We are not daft enough to see a tactic dictated by PM Johnson which is designed to land us with a no-deal Brexit and to fall for that," he said.^^

I read this bit on the BBC and felt vaguely hopeful but haven’t seen anything else. I take it I have to abandon hope again ? It’s not even 9am.

AuntieStella · 03/09/2019 08:48

"No she wasn't saying labour will block a ge "

I know she wasn't!

I said it easier for her to welcome a GE (if you it will only ever be a theoretical possibility) which is of course what she did. My point was intended to be about the difference in tone, and why I think it bespeaks a current shortfall in numbers.

Though of course the numbers could still change

(I've had to switch off BBC Breakfast now. Yes, important week domestically, but there is still other news and it's a shame it's not getting a look-in at all)

NoCauseRebel · 03/09/2019 08:59

I saw Corbin on the news this morning. Started out relatively normal and then became more and more hysterical until he was screaming. The man is mentally unhinged, and the thought that he could become prime minister is terrifying.

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 09:02

“I saw Corbin on the news this morning. Started out relatively normal and then became more and more hysterical until he was screaming.”

Which channel? And roughly about when?

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 09:03

I ask because i’ve never seen him that animated- it would be a refreshing change....

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 09:04

..... Middle England doesn't care about the anti sematism....

Careful right wing propaganda aimed at the hard of thinking...

Wow.
Says you!
Sharing platform with terrorists. Doing nothing to root out, anti semistim being in the grip of vicious 'momentum' waiting in the wings, dis ingenious on brexit.. Not stepping aside when he has run labour into the ground!

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 09:28

There are loads of stuff online about Corbyn. Images showing his lies about not being a terrorist sympathiser. He hates Britain. He will
destroy Britain. He will turn this country into another Venezuela. He admires their policies. He has admitted that.

Corbyn Bingo time Grin Grin

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 09:36

It’s extraordinary how Johnson gets away with his serial lies and gaffes. How does he do it? The “It’s just Boris” thing can only go so far, surely?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 09:37

Since the introduction of Jenny Formby as general secretary the antisemitism problem is being addressed much faster than under Ian McNicol who was general secretary previously. How is 500,000 new members and a 40% vote share in the last election running Labour down? We see you shills, we see what youre doing.

Id worry more about the Tax Payers Akkiance that support the Tory government, at least with Momentum you can find out who funds them the TPA not so much, but right wingers and centrists are of course going to hate Corbyn but right now a coalition of the left is all thats going to stop the Tories finally trashing the UK.

And to the PP who said he's out of touch you clearly havent looked into it enough. Nationalising public transport, power, water and the post office polls well over 60% with the general public

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 09:38
  • Tax Payers Alliance, right hand was a bit too far over on the keyboard lol
BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 09:58

Does anyone know which news channel Corbyn was screaming and hysterical on this morning?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2019 10:05

Id love to see that myself Bertrand

MaxNormal · 03/09/2019 10:14

I'm fascinated as well. Google reveals nothing. I really want to see the screaming now!

BertrandRussell · 03/09/2019 10:14

@NoCauseRebel - can you point us towards hysterical screaming Corbyn, please?

PostNotInHaste · 03/09/2019 10:26

Oh yes please, I too want to see Corbyn screaming !

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 10:26

Id love to see that myself Bertrand

I don’t normally have an interest in watching stuff like this...but as im not 100% sure that he is actually alive i too would like to see it

I’ll put money on me being very very disappointed though

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 10:27

Oooh look

A posh ‘I too’ crosspost

Ohflippineck · 03/09/2019 10:28

Can’t stand Corbyn. He was not screaming, sadly.
Can’t stand BoZo either. WTF to vote for?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 10:30

Was he hysterical?

Ohflippineck · 03/09/2019 10:33

No more than usual Grin

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 10:33

See...told you I’d be disappointed 😀
