So why might that be? (genuine question, struggling to follow all this stuff)
Is he anticipating a huge win, giving him a mandate for what he does next? A bit like May in 2017?

Also thinking that Nigel Farage has been quiet recently. I doubt very much that he has been busy doing his job as an MEP. I strongly suspect that there will be lots of collusion with Farage, BoJo and Cummings if a GE is called. What a depressing thought Sad

StealthPolarBear · 02/09/2019 17:56

Lectern is out in downing Street

tbh, doesn't really matter what the sexist bath toy says.
If Labour doesn't support a GE, he is stuck with no majority to sort out the brexit mess he made.

StealthPolarBear · 02/09/2019 18:06

Why aren't the BBC airing his speech

OP posts:
MyGhastIsFlabbered · 02/09/2019 18:09

They are?

MrsJoshNavidi · 02/09/2019 18:11

They are. No election.

NoBaggyPants · 02/09/2019 18:13

They are.

It was painful, he was floundering. Brought back memories of May. "Nothing has changed..."

FenellaMaxwell · 02/09/2019 18:14

Fucking hell. Just when you think you couldn’t despite him more.

MockersthefeMANist · 02/09/2019 18:15

Journos have been briefed about the election, then Bozza says, "Election? I don't want an election...." etc.

Not difficult to decode.

He's rattled.

STOP THE COUP!!! STOP THE COUP!!!

MustardScreams · 02/09/2019 18:16

What a pointless bit of waffle. He is just ridiculous.

Itsfineactually · 02/09/2019 18:16

Farage always goes quiet after election. He comes out about a month before voting then climbs back in to his snake hole.

Itsfineactually · 02/09/2019 18:17

That speech was fucking pointless and nothing we do ‘t already know... twat!

TheGlaikitRambler · 02/09/2019 18:18

What's actually wrong with Corbyn?

StealthPolarBear · 02/09/2019 18:18

Right.

OP posts:
MockersthefeMANist · 02/09/2019 18:22

What's actually wrong with Corbyn?

He divides his party. He's surrounded by nasty extremists who run his office. He's out of touch and besotted with nutcase leaders overseas.

Etc.

(How very unlike....)

woman19 · 02/09/2019 18:23

He can't call an election. It is not in his gift.

MockersthefeMANist · 02/09/2019 18:26

He's going to call a vote of No-Confidence in himself and vote against himself.

BackInTime · 02/09/2019 18:27

Trying to bluff about progress on negotiations with the EU when both the EU and Ireland have denied that there have been any new alternatives presented to them. So now the plan is to blame the Remainers for scuppering the negotiations with the EU when he was so close to getting a new deal that doesn't actually exist.

woman19 · 02/09/2019 18:28

@NickBoles
What was the point of that?

This is why I will never vote Labour. That and the 2006 dental contract!
I am a lifelong Tory voter but I’m going LibDem next time. Labour don’t strike me as a remain party anyway. I think Corbyn is a Brexiteer by stealth otherwise he would have done something, anything in the past 3 years.

woman19 · 02/09/2019 18:31

From the state of that 'speech', I'm going to down grade his elections chances a few % points.

StrakerAndBarlow · 02/09/2019 18:36

What a bellend!

Peregrina · 02/09/2019 18:42

I am not sure. I think Farage hates the Tories. It will be a contest to see who has the biggest dick. Thus proving that they are all three the biggest dicks.

Drabarni · 02/09/2019 18:49

This is why I will never vote Labour.

Because you read a news article? Right, they only tell the truth then?

No it wasn’t. He got the intended point across as instructed. He doesn’t want an election. He will have no option if those, nasty rapscallion rebels destroy his negotiating hand. (Because he and his hand rubbing cronies have always been good and never voted against the Government).
Yeah, right 🙄 Cummings is playing the general public like violins.

Corbyn must step down if they have any chance of winning said election. Of course he won’t. He’s been waiting for his place in the sun for 40 years. I am a remainer through and through but I wouldn’t trust Corbyn any more than I would trust BoZo because all said and done he’s a Brexiteer too.

I fully concur with your summation of our PM. Would add one or two further choice adjectives too.
