flouncyfanny I suspect they try to steer him towards every ditch they see. Although he's digging his own grave so maybe they are just leaving him to his self destruction.

About how a vote was given won and now Parliament is stopping it

Of course, because the vote should never have happened, wrecks our economy, was advisory only, DC had no authority to say it would honoured and then ran away.

If you don't like what Parliament has done, then at the next election, you can all vote in Farage and he can take the UK out of the EU.... that is our system.

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2019 08:40

jasjas1973
Many a true word is said in jest.

Parker231 · 07/09/2019 08:48

It’s so good to know that whatever else we won’t be having a no deal exit at the end of October. One nightmare put to bed!

jasjas1973 · 07/09/2019 08:51

mummy2017 - i am not jesting, that is how it works in the UK, we have a representative not a direct democracy.

The EU decision should have been decided at a GE.... oh hang on, it was, numerous times since 1975 and each and every time the UK public voted in pro EU parties, none more so than Thatcher, who helped devise the SM.

Over the last 40 years, you had many democratic votes to get us out of the EU and failed each and every time and i think you'll fail at the next GE too.

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2019 08:59

But we won't.
You just don't see it do you.
This won't go away.
We will be leaving and since there is no way a compromise can happen , no deal will happen.
All Parliment has done is prove that some Members hate Joe Public.
They will lose their seats to people who will get us out.

Parker231 · 07/09/2019 09:05

Parliament will continue to block a no deal as no one is going to agree to such a disaster. I can’t understand why anyone thinks that we should leave on such terms. There are no benefits in leaving the EU but a no deal is stupid!

Random18 · 07/09/2019 09:08

Mummmy - I see one flaw with your logic - not all of the 17.4 million leave voters are bat shit crazy like you.

We need to leave yes - if that's still what the people want. bmBut let's find out what people want. I am pretty sure that it's not with No Deal

Bearbehind · 07/09/2019 09:08

mummmy we all know that no deal has always been your dream but how on earth do you think it’s actually going to happen now?

Quellium · 07/09/2019 09:11

No Deal doesn't even solve anything. We still need a deal with the EU after. We will just be negotiating from a position of incredible weakness. First things on the table: sort out the Irish border, then pay us the money you owe and agreed to pay. It's just such a stupid way to leave.

jasjas1973 · 07/09/2019 09:11

No, some MPs are protecting the UK from itself and in doing so have wrecked their careers.

time4chocolate · 07/09/2019 09:13

Brexit will happen and the longer this shenanigans goes on the more likely it will be on a ‘no deal’.

Anti-no Deal MPs have scored a massive own goal with that legal bill and they can’t see it. They think they have done the right thing. House of cards.

merrymouse · 07/09/2019 09:14

We will be leaving and since there is no way a compromise can happen

A compromise will have to happen so that planes can fly.

No Deal doesn’t mean no compromise. It just means being forced to negotiate from the worst possible position.

It’s literally like ‘refusing to negotiate’ over a shared access agreement with a neighbour by staying in your house.

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2019 09:16

You fail too see how what has happened is coming over to normal people.
People who don't give a stuff about Brexit, but are shocked at all the happening this week.
People who don't go on forums, or speak out loud about politics.
All they seem is we asked to go, they already think Politicians are backstabbers and here they have it thrust under their nose, and what they will do is vote
Corbyn says give me an election for two years, but when offered it he says to his party just don't vote.
MP's not voting how the very people who who voted them in want.
Who is the master of but I didn't mean that.....
Boris saying I promise and saying he will do it.
Yeah the vote will be on who tells the truth, and that won't be Corbyn who lies.

SistemaAddict · 07/09/2019 09:17

I think Corbyn is playing the long game.

merrymouse · 07/09/2019 09:19

Brexit will happen and the longer this shenanigans goes on the more likely it will be on a ‘no deal’.

The shenanigans are happening because it’s obvious to MPs, including Johnson’s own brother, that Johnson has no plan that would satisfy both the ERG and the EU.

He has no plans, just threats.

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2019 09:23

He has no plan because there is no other way forward.
There never was.

merrymouse · 07/09/2019 09:24

All they seem is we asked to go

What you are saying is that the public have been misinformed that ‘No Deal’ means ‘taking back control’, but the government should do it anyway.

Parker231 · 07/09/2019 09:24

@time4chocolate - MP’s were right to put through legislation to stop a no deal - they know that a no deal is a disaster. Why does anyone think a no deal is the way forward?

merrymouse · 07/09/2019 09:26

He has no plan because there is no other way forward

But ‘No Deal’ isn’t a way forward. It’s just more negotiations from a poorer position - both figuratively and financially.

Why would anyone want that unless they have some other motive that has nothing to do with the well being of the U.K.?

Parker231 · 07/09/2019 09:27

Corbyn wants an election but knows that this month isn’t the right time. He and the other MP’s are doing what they can to ensure there is a no deal. They have run rings around Johnson.

jasjas1973 · 07/09/2019 09:27

Yeah the vote will be on who tells the truth, and that won't be Corbyn who lies

"I will not prorogue parliament" then does exactly that as a memo written in mid August proves he intended to do just that.....

Boris has been sacked twice for lying and got Naserin Radcliffe an extra 5 years in an Iranian jail for yet another lie.

mummmy2017 · 07/09/2019 09:28

So Parker you approve of a nanny state.
Wait till something you disagree with is the issue, your setting up presidence for your vote not to count.

time4chocolate · 07/09/2019 09:28

Mummy - I see one flaw with your logic - not all of the 17.4 million leave voters are bat shit crazy like you

No-ones bat shit crazy - there are a huge number of those 17m that would chose leave (in any way) over remain, myself included.

If Boris wins a GE (or goes into a pact with the BXP) that will be your answer, more people would rather leave on a no deal than to remain

I’m not a fan of polls but the ones I’ve seen over the last few days certainly don’t favour Labour (especially the ‘I’m going to get a good deal and then I’m going to campaign against it’😮, now that is bat shit crazy😊)

merrymouse · 07/09/2019 09:29

leave (in any way) over remain, myself included.

There was an opportunity to do that months ago, but it was obstructed by Leavers.
