The law once it has Royal Assent will require him (or the PM) to ask for an extension if he can't get a deal.
He might try and get a GE and stand on a No Deal platform. If 2/3 of the house agree with it.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 14:30

Do you want him to break the law to get No Deal?

ContinuityError · 05/09/2019 14:34

Boris could go to the EU on 31st refuse to ask for an extension.
If he doesn't ask the EU can't give one.

I wouldn’t be so sure on that one.

Once the legislation to prevent leaving on 31/10 with No Deal is enacted the EU might choose to accept that as a legal request for an extension.

Might be out of Johnson’s hands.

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 14:38

Apparently it will be legal.
He will have nothing to offer the EU.
He can day he doesn't want an extension, that others do.
The EU say will anything change in the UK.
Is there any signs of any agreement, he says no.
They say no point talking about extension...
Hey ho. Not deal.

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 14:40

Think about it .
The EU know there will not be a way forward. So why bother with more waiting.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 14:41

On what basis will it be legal to go against an Act of Parliament signed by the Queen?
Did a posh boy tell you it was ok to do it?

SistemaAddict · 05/09/2019 14:44

The rest of the EU will try their best to protect Ireland so are likely to agree an extension especially as this is what parliament/lords have legislated for. No deal is not in any country's best interests.

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 14:44

Boris just has to say the truth...
Deadlock, nothing will change.
Your acting like we have all the power in the deal, no deal. You have so many times said we can't dictate to the EU, are you now saying they have to obey us?

SistemaAddict · 05/09/2019 14:55

Nothing will change with him as PM but the rest of the EU won't throw us under the bus.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 14:56

No @mummmy2017 , I'm saying he can't ignore an Act of Parliament.

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 14:58

France wants to.
Germany needs to.
Italy is about to get a new PM who wants to go too.
Your now saying we hold the winning hand, when for ever it has been we have to play ball.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 15:46

I'm now saying I have no idea what you are talking about.

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 15:55

BJ is an idiot but I can’t see even him ignoring an Act of Parliament although Corbyn isn’t going to risk agreeing to a GE until they have got Queens Assent.

jasjas1973 · 05/09/2019 15:57

Fedupcitizen

Your vote was advisory, you can argue all you like it wasn't but you'd be wrong. Parliament has noted the result, hence honoured the referendum.

Cameron promised something he wasn't in a position to deliver, he also resigned and whatever he promised went with him - you need to take that up with him?

As for BJ not asking the EU for an extension?
Well, that is why many will not back a GE until the request is handed over & EU agrees - BJ will have to resign, as he has staked his reputation (as poor as it is) on leaving on the 31/10.

Hammond has already talked about litigation in this regard.

time4chocolate · 05/09/2019 16:05

I have just got round to reading the β€˜no deal’ bill and it’s quite bonkers reallyShock

That’s all I cba to say at the moment, I’m off to mow the lawn!

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 16:06

Ok bluntly put.
If France and Germany can see nothing changing and us not revoking, then they will just say no extension, and nothing Parliament does matters.

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 16:11

Representatives from the EU have said this morning that they would grant an extension when it is requested.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 16:29

Based on what, @mummmy2017 ? Your feelings, again?

mummmy2017 · 05/09/2019 16:37

EU saying only if an Election.
Tory's win...out we go.

ListeningQuietly · 05/09/2019 17:00

So, once we are out with a No Deal, what will be the best change you'll notice?

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 17:44

It doesn’t look like Labour will agree to a GE until after 31 October and BJ is saying he won’t request an extension, it looks like BJ will have to resign as he won’t have the authority to take the UK out of the EU and he doesn’t even have a majority to do anything.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2019 17:49

Just watched your boy on TV. He was embarrassingly poor.
I feel sorry for those wonderful recruits standing behind them.

Parker231 · 05/09/2019 17:57

BJ says negotiations are ongoing with the EU but the EU are saying that the UK has not put forward any alternative proposals to the Backstop.

time4chocolate · 05/09/2019 18:09

Oooh I have a feeling something or someone is going to implode imminently and complete chaos will ensue. We are in absolute deadlock

Still my front garden looks much better (it’s the little things in life that bring happiness and contentment😊).

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/09/2019 18:12

Corbyn has the power to stop no deal by winning an election. He is running scared because he knows he will never win an election against Boris.

Boris has got rid of remainer MPs, he has parliament stopping the implementation of the peoples vote. All he needs is an election and we can leave the EU. Plan on track.

If Corbyn is so stupid as to try and keep Boris hamstrung then he takes us out on no deal, irrelevant any so called law stopping him. The UK will forgive him Grin and he will be an even greater leader than Churchill. Parliament does not have the moral right to ignore what the majority of this country voted for.
