Mummmy2017 - a no deal will happen if the UK don’t come up with a proposal which is acceptable to the EU. So far they haven’t done so.

mummmy2017 · 31/08/2019 09:10

Great so as I have always said this would happen, no one agrees....no deal it is.

DustyDiamond · 31/08/2019 09:25

Bellinsurge you misunderstand me - I wasn't referring to remain voters in general, or remain-voting MPs who are prepared to accept the ref - but rather those MPs who loudly proclaim to be 'anti no-deal' when really they mean they will do anything to thwart Brexit completely.

They are the ones whom I hold in contempt - not because of their pro-remain/anti-Brexit stance, but because of their duplicity.

Besom · 31/08/2019 09:36

The EU cannot and will not agree to something which risks wrecking the GFA and puts the lives of citizens of one of it's member states at risk. It is as simple as this.

The UK govt doesn't give a stuff about NI and has to keep DUP on side so 'alternative unicorn arrangements blah blah'.

There is no solution to NI issue that doesnt involve NI somehow staying in line with EU regs. Sectarian riots in Govan last night show this is a live issue.

Cobblersandhogwash · 31/08/2019 10:23

@bellinisurge how can you accept the result via a referendum that was riddled with illegalities and untruths?

Give us a referendum that is without any of this.

Mamamia456 · 31/08/2019 10:48

Miljah - I was referring to a quote that you used in your post belittling a leave poster because they voted leave as they thought it was the right thing to do.

Every leave and remain voter had their own reasons for how they voted. You may not lke some of those reasons, but tough, you don't get to decide how other people vote and why.

Socksontheradiator · 31/08/2019 10:58

I listened to Alex Andreu (sturdy Alex on twitter) this morning. He is suggesting that despite the posturing by Johnson etc, it's very plain for anyone (notably the eu) that we are nowhere near prepared for no deal. Govt absolutely know this. So his opinion seems to be that the Prorogation might simply be so in the very few days left to sit before 31st Oct, a minutely altered WA will be voted through as the only alternate to a chaotic ND. And that this is what he wanted all along.
It actually made sense to me.
Still making ND preparations of my own though.

twofingerstoEverything · 31/08/2019 11:41

That's what I think, too, socks. I said so on another thread. It's all posturing to groom the populace/parliament into accepting something like the old WA. It's Johnson holding a gun to the nation's head. Don't want chaos? Vote for this deal instead.

mummmy2017 · 31/08/2019 12:02

Boris knows the EU can't and won't change the deal.
He just has to Wait and he gets no deal and can say he tried.
Why on earth do you think he is all about no deal.
He gets to say look what I did, while doing nothing.
He goes down in history as he Boris was PM when it happened.

Bearbehind · 31/08/2019 12:25

Totally agree socks

I do find it amusing that mummmy literally won’t entertain the idea of anything other than no deal though

mummmy Boris has always said he wanted a deal - just for a second imagine that is the truth, not the threat of no deal - what would you do?

RuggerHug · 31/08/2019 12:53

mummmy and the others, why do you think your wants are worth more than others lives and safety? Are your children more worthy than NI children?

twofingerstoEverything · 31/08/2019 13:37
Cheerful little Boris song for the Brexit Arms
Socksontheradiator · 31/08/2019 13:40

Hahaha

prettybird · 31/08/2019 13:51

My 83 year old dad sent me that video Grin

Frankiestein402 · 31/08/2019 13:55

IF you leave your club, you walk out the front door, shut the door and don't go back in.

This (from mummmy2017) feels like the no-dealer position.

As a remainder it is frustrating that the 'no dealers' don't seem to understand that simple geography means that we have to interact with the 'club' - if we leave without a WA or paying our debts the club has us over a barrel, far more restricting than the current club rules.

Mamamia456 · 31/08/2019 14:01

That video is a bit boring and repetitive half way through!

twofingerstoEverything · 31/08/2019 14:01

I like the cut of his jib, prettybird!

Great turnout in Downing Street and other city centres!

merrymouse · 31/08/2019 14:07

Yes - Boris doesn't want to carry the can for No Deal, but needs the support of Labour MPs to get a WA through parliament, therefore he is trying to shift the responsibility for No Deal onto them.

"You said you would do anything to stop No Deal - well vote for my Deal then".

bellinisurge · 31/08/2019 14:11

@Cobblersandhogwash I accept it because I want to compromise. Of course it is a pile of shit. But once Article 50 was triggered, it was a pile of shit we all had to live with.
2nd referendum would be great and I would vote Remain again. But I can't assume we would get one or that the result wouldn't be the same with the arsey belligerent attitude of Leavers.

merrymouse · 31/08/2019 14:11

The EU cannot and will not agree to something which risks wrecking the GFA and puts the lives of citizens of one of it's member states at risk. It is as simple as this.

And even if they wanted to, Ireland has power of veto.

The EU Canada trade deal had to be approved by a province in Belgium before it was agreed.

jasjas1973 · 31/08/2019 14:18

opinion seems to be that the Prorogation might simply be so in the very few days left to sit before 31st Oct, a minutely altered WA will be voted through as the only alternate to a chaotic ND

Unless the backstop itself is altered significantly, that isn't going to happen.

mummmy2017 · 31/08/2019 15:37

For people who came to be bright your stupid. As in have a brain and won't use it...
EU won't move.
Parliament won't go for WA....
How do you get two sides to agree with no time left...

No agreement no deal.
How hard is that to see.

Socksontheradiator · 31/08/2019 15:48

If that's aimed at me, I never claimed to be bright. I quoted what someone much more knowledgeable than me said, and then said that I thought they might be right.

jasjas1973 · 31/08/2019 15:51

Mummy2017

For someone who cannot construct sentences or spell very basic words, i'd be careful calling others stupid.

mummmy2017 · 31/08/2019 15:57

At least I can do logical thinking....
If no one can agree. You can't have a deal.
