The world might not fall apart but NI might.

Thankfully court action has been heard today in the Court of Sessions in Scotland to prevent the proroguing of parliament. Decision due at 10am tomorrow.

placemats · 29/08/2019 18:26

Meanwhile Nigel Farage asks the question if Jo Brand was inciting hate.

Yes, that Nigel Farage.

placemats · 29/08/2019 18:28

Northern Ireland will not fall apart. The UVF might get a bit testicle and testosterone about it but Arlene's days are numbered.

Parker231 · 29/08/2019 18:58

Tell that to my friends in NI who are scared as to what is going to happen.

My brothers and mother aren't scared. They all voted remain. In fact they see it as a united Ireland. The DUP have missed a trick here.

The GFA isn't going to go. It cant. It's an international agreement. The roads have been built (EU money), and some are still being built.

What will change with a no deal is the break up of the Union. It's as simple as that.

Dapplegrey · 29/08/2019 19:16

I noticed one leaver went onto Westminster thread and posters flocked like hungry piranhas claiming the poster was a Russian /trump /farage frankenstein bot.

The Westminster posters must have thoroughly enjoyed that feeding frenzy.

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 19:17

Parker has anyone ever called you nosey?

I've never seen so many questions on a thread it's bonkers. Who do you think you are?

On another thread, I've been reminded of a da spiegal article and posted it.
It's about gun running in open border area and how failings by the eu led to automatic rifles in the hands of terrorists.

You clearly want to be in the eu by your logic you obviously weigh up all these unexpected consequences.... Gun running, sex trafficking, slave trafficking... The failure of the eu to act on information and prevent that awful attack at the battaclan.
Future terrorist attacks due to eu failings and death??

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 19:20

Bear again that sort of mentality is in sync with eu machine, sticking it's nose in everywhere. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

placemats · 29/08/2019 19:21

WTF are you talking about?

Bearbehind · 29/08/2019 19:24

Bear again that sort of mentality is in sync with eu machine, sticking it's nose in everywhere

Maybe - but also like the EU it makes absolutely no difference to your life

Well, I enjoy mumsnet and the boards I frequent. I used to enjoy the brexit Arms and light hearted brexit chat but unfortunately posters with a lot of uncontrollable anger can't keep themselves away and constantly demand answers... So it erodes my enjoyment of chatting with fellow leavers on this subject.

As for the eu...

Parker231 · 29/08/2019 19:30

@Autumnintheair - there is no limit on involvement in a topic which concerns me so much. Brexit affects me hugely - I’m Belgian with a Belgian passport. I’ve lived in the UK since I was five and have right to remain. My DT’s have Canadian passports but are Uni in the UK. I work in London but in an international role and DH is a GP. As a result of Brexit we are seriously considering leaving - the UK is no longer the place to be.

jasjas1973 · 29/08/2019 19:31

@Autumnintheair

Kinda shows the EU isn't this all encompassing behemoth you people like to portray it as.....

If the EU started pushing its weight around and started controlling national Police forces, i feel sure you would be the first to complain about a supranational eu state taking over?

Its down to national govts and police/security forces to prevent the criminal activities you are talking about.

Though it could be Corbyns fault?

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 19:35

But Parker I still don't understand why you're questioning throughout an entire thread? What do you hope to achieve? I imagine it would make you feel more angry when leavers do not answer your questions?
Jas jas I am struggling to follow your logic.

Us people would accuse the eu of meddling?

Parker231 · 29/08/2019 19:38

I want to understand people’s views - that’s why we debate on these boards- I don’t always agree but respect other opinions. Where people lose my respect is when they are unable to come up with any reasons for why they voted as they did or why they see the future positively.

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 19:43

But Parker has your interest and style produced anything that pleases you on this thread?
Are you enlightened? Surely reading newspapers, other forums, etc would provide comfort for you. How is there debate here? Leavers have come here to have light hearted chat? This isn't the thread for questions... Whatever anyone answered would be rejected by you anyway so what is the point?

Parker231 · 29/08/2019 19:57

The advantage of this site is that you can dip in and out as much or as little as you want. Brexit isn’t a subject for light hearted chat so everyone can comment and debate as much as they want.

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 20:00

Ah OK parker. So it's down to you is it.

Again a very eu mentality. The brexit arms was light hearted chat thread... But you have soley decreed that's not the case. I see.

ContinuityError · 29/08/2019 20:15

This isn't the thread for questions

There never is a Leaver thread for questions.

Funny that.

Coppersulphate · 29/08/2019 21:52

Yay, the Brexit Arms.
Bunting out.
We are nearly there. #goBoris.
JRM has a countdown on Twitter.

Funny how all the Remain MP are calling this the end if democracy. All Boris is doing is trying to implement the democratic vote of the country. They are trying to stop him.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 29/08/2019 22:12

I read Corbyn is going to try and pass legislation to stop Brexit next week.

I am confused, how could he do this if a coup has occurred?

I guess the so called coup is just remoaners angst!

tomtom1999xx · 29/08/2019 22:15

Funny how all the Remain MP are calling this the end if democracy. All Boris is doing is trying to implement the democratic vote of the country. They are trying to stop him

I know. You couldn’t make it up.

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 22:29

Bercow said it was dreadful but jrm said he couldn't possibly be speaking in capacity as speaker because speaker is neutral.

Queen won't meet corbyn. Bless her. She's too old. What would he say to her?
