Johnson likes publicity.

Any attention is good attention. Whilst you are talking about how crazy his idea is, the less you come up with your own.

And there it is. The lack of plan to stop no deal. Just a bunch of idiots who argue over who is more right about politics without offering up a practical solution.

Unable to see their own flaws.

And leading us ever closer to the cliff edge and operation Yellowhammer.

Boris Johnson arrives to ceremonial welcome for tonight’s brief Angela Merkel visit. Shouts of “liars” and “stop brexit” from a smallish crowd visible thru the gates. German colleagues say unusual for Merkel to be sitting on seat rather than red box

Lots of people aren't wise
Yes, many are trusting, especially of government. He's presenting a patriotic hopeful image, which the majority will swallow easily......

I hope/pray not, but this is my sense of it........

Songsofexperience · 21/08/2019 17:08

They may not be wise or intelligent but they may end up knowing certain things. I think it's common knowledge now how social media works.

DGRossetti · 21/08/2019 17:18

Yes, many are trusting, especially of government

My childhood was a mix of my DM whose view would be "they can't do that ..." and my DF who had zero trust in government, police, council, or indeed any element of authority. Not that it stopped him knowing many policemen, lawyers (and a judge).

FishesaPlenty · 21/08/2019 17:20

DGR

It's more like a school bus rolling down a hill towards a cliff edge, with a drunken buffoon and a doddering pensioner sat in the front and a load of panicking teenagers in the back. And the twats on the back row shouting for them to go faster.

They still could do something about it. Be positive. [rum]

MockersthefeMANist · 21/08/2019 17:26

....It's the Italian Job, with £350m written on the side of the coach as it teeters off the edge of an Alp with the Self-Preservation Society on board.

'Hang About Lads, I got an idea.....'

tobee · 21/08/2019 17:27

I include myself in not being very wise btw! Smile

DGRossetti · 21/08/2019 17:30

It's the Italian Job

It certainly is ...

(Whistles ... This is the self preservation so-ci-et-y )

MockersthefeMANist · 21/08/2019 17:33

...Although Farage thinks it's Zulu.

(Not long before Swaziland joins the EU.)

prettybird · 21/08/2019 17:35

Speaking on Tuesday, Mr Johnson said he did not think it was true the EU would need to impose controls to protect its single market. (from the BBC article)

What planet is he living on????? ConfusedConfusedConfused

woman19 · 21/08/2019 17:35

It's the Godfather. 3.

Hoooo · 21/08/2019 17:44

More like nigel and bojos bogus journey...

woman19 · 21/08/2019 17:45

Watching the press conference; he's a smirking thug. 'small matter of brexit'. And people are losing their medicines and homes. Bastard.

woman19 · 21/08/2019 17:46

I like that Hoo but I love Keanu, so can't have him teinted with them. Grin

DGRossetti · 21/08/2019 17:50

Since Keanu got mentioned, how about Boris and Nigel in "My Own Private UK" ?

(The only film I've ever seen Reeves act in ....)

SistemaAddict · 21/08/2019 17:51

Potentially stupid question alert: why are Merkel and Macron so prominent in talks with the UK but other countries aren't involved in the same way. For example I haven't heard anything about talks with Spain or Sweden or Latvia. Ireland are prominent too obviously.

Also: what drugs is Boris on and can we all have some please?!

woman19 · 21/08/2019 17:53

It's partly based on Henry vth DGR: what that *** aspires to be......

woman19 · 21/08/2019 17:54

what drugs is Boris on and can we all have some please
He's on patrician entitlement.
No we can't have any.

BollocksToBrexit · 21/08/2019 17:58

I know, I know, it's my own fault for looking at it, but the Daily Mail is giving me rage. They're claiming that Johnson goes to meet Merkel 'as the EU closes ranks and isolates Britain. FFS, who's leaving? Who wants to sever all ties? Who's making it harder for outsiders to come in? And who's telling their staff not to attend meetings?

....yes, it's your own fault Wink What else do you expect from the Mail? Confused Taking responsibility for the UK's isolationist approach? Hmm

BollocksToBrexit · 21/08/2019 18:02

Pissed me off so much I posted it twice.

Corbyn says in his letter: "The chaos and dislocation of Boris Johnson’s No Deal Brexit is real and threatening, as the government’s leaked Operation Yellowhammer dossier makes crystal clear. That’s why we must do everything we can to stop it."

The "all tactics" line is significant. Suggests Corbyn might be open to measures short of a vote of no confidence and his caretaker prime minister plan.
