Johnson likes publicity.

Any attention is good attention. Whilst you are talking about how crazy his idea is, the less you come up with your own.

And there it is. The lack of plan to stop no deal. Just a bunch of idiots who argue over who is more right about politics without offering up a practical solution.

Unable to see their own flaws.

And leading us ever closer to the cliff edge and operation Yellowhammer.

Wow. Corbyn actually seems like he's got some fire in his belly. Wonders will never cease!

Hoooo · 21/08/2019 18:18

I've had a rather stressful day...

Finally got another script for ds1s inhalers. No stock. So off I trip tomorrow round the towns...it's also gcse results day so have that going on too...

Then a dr phoned and gave me the 3rd degree about my patch use...as per my gynae instructions I use them "off licence" (so I use double the amount basically to control my cardiac symptoms)

This is ALL in my notes.

WHY am I having to explain this??

And I've also got to keep an eye on mum's post for her urgent hospital referral...(I make all her appts at her request)

All in all, leavers can just fuck off.

Hopefully, they are all independently wealthy and very, very healthy and lucky (accidents do happen sadly).

Because if they aren't, then they are truly fucked.

The 2008 financial crisis directly led to 40,000 deaths in the US alone

No deal brexit is projected to be 10x worse than 2008.

Do the sums...

^ For those leavers who like mathsand attending funerals

Jeremy Corbyn has invited leaders of opposition parties and anti-No Deal Conservative backbenchers for a meeting next Tuesday to discuss "all tactics available to prevent No Deal."

All tactics apart from playing nicely with ChangeUK Hmm

MockersthefeMANist · 21/08/2019 18:25

Letwin has announced he's standing down at the next election, jumping before he's pushed. So that's one vote for Stop No Deal. But more Tories will be needed.

If Corbyn cannot grasp that no Tory MPs will vote for him to be PM, then he is, in Nye Bevan's words, too stupid to be Prime Minister.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2019 18:41

He did include Anna Soubry in his letter. Not that I'm one to stand up for JC, but I'm confused by this comment.

Yes, its all Corbyns fault isn't it? Nothing to do with the Tories causing this entire mess and now the "commendable" ones are too principled to help stop no deal. Centrists and remainers forever snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

All tactics apart from playing nicely with ChangeUK

Who?

MockersthefeMANist · 21/08/2019 18:48

He's written to Soubry, but not "The Independents" group of Allen, Berger, Shuker, Smith and Woodcock.

Alternative solution = revocation of article 50 Grin

DGRossetti · 21/08/2019 18:55

I am pleased to see Jeremy is finally realising this is a serious situation. I wonder what difference it would have made if he had realised this 3 years ago.

However, given that about 80% of the public (as deduced from a trawl of MN Grin) even now don't seem to have "got it", then what good would that have done ? Bearing in mind any and every attempt to engage the public has drawn the "Project Fear" supergun fire of the combined MSM.

Corbyn - like a lot of us - has only really been in a position to react and follow, not lead the narrative. In the UK at least.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/08/2019 18:59

No deal was not on the radar 3 years ago, options were greater. Now is the point of saving the UK from the disaster of no deal. Now or never. Where are the remainer Tories?

Sorry, I am too! I just scanned the names of the parties written to, rather than registering the actual names listed Blush

I agree, Mother. Just bloody work together for the good of the country. Parties and egos need leaving at the door.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/08/2019 19:04

Oh, and Queen, would Gin help?! 😂

Just listened to the 6 o'clock news on R4. A major supermarket has told the BBC it will be rationing sales of fresh goods post No Deal Brexit to avoid its shops being a virtual wholesaler for smaller shops and restaurants.
Hope the cheery Leavers are fucking proud of themselves.

woman19 · 21/08/2019 19:23

bellini I can't the end of that: it didn't mention the supermarket?

Interesting thread twitter.com/Sime0nStylites/status/1164227891267342336?s=20

Suggestions are that (as well all know) it was May's red lines that caused problems (comments under this tweet twitter.com/Sime0nStylites/status/1164228452549107713?s=20 are ones to watch). Plus, she's skillfully throwing the backstop back as a problem of the UK's own making. Deal with it like an adult, Johnson.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says a solution for the Irish backstop could be found in the "next two years" or the "next 30 days".

I've looked at the VT again and I think it is a bit more subtle.

I paraphrase but AM says there’s no reason why an answer to the backstop can’t necessarily be found in the next 2 years or the next 30 days.

She goes on to say that’s only possible if there is clarity regarding the future relationship. She then says that they have heard more about that in recent days and they will have much to talk about at dinner.

What this means, I think, is if the future relationship posited a closer relationship then PERHAPS MAYBE there is something to do. But we know this is not what Team Johnson wants.

So I think the ground has been prepared for Germany to say that we really need the backstop because of the UK’s own plans for the future relationship.

V interested in other folks’ takes.

The fervent desire for people to find grains of hope in this is really telling us something.

Alternatively, people can choose to believe that in an EXTRAORDINARY diplomatic reverse, AM has broken ranks with Ireland, France, the EU and herself.
