Johnson likes publicity.

Any attention is good attention. Whilst you are talking about how crazy his idea is, the less you come up with your own.

And there it is. The lack of plan to stop no deal. Just a bunch of idiots who argue over who is more right about politics without offering up a practical solution.

Unable to see their own flaws.

And leading us ever closer to the cliff edge and operation Yellowhammer.

Cummings has great influence in No 10,
especially since BJ is so lazy and leaves actual work to others, as when he was London mayor

This is particularly alarming, because Cummings' blogs over several years reveal genuinely lunatic ravings about future disasters:

https://www.buzzfeed.com/alanwhite/dominic-cummings-brexit-plan

Here are two beliefs Dominic Cummings holds about Brexit.

One:
He believes it will help us to phone up Jeff Bezos and partner with him on creating a base on the moon,
which will in turn enable us to industrialise space.

Two:
He believes it can be delivered by using the same models of government that will inevitably be required to avoid an apocalypse
brought on by either nuclear war
or an artificial intelligence (AI) that decides to destroy the human race. 🤯🤯
< he thinks the Terminator films are rl ? >

These two statements aren’t throwaway examples of his most outlandish claims.

They’re significant elements of what Cummings, the prime minister’s most senior adviser, thinks about Brexit, as laid out in his blogs.

Songsofexperience · 20/08/2019 21:33

Brexit is turning into a Lord oc the Rings/ Texas Chainsaw Massacre mash up.
We already had May as Gollum with her Previous, now we have Worm Tongue advising Leatherface.

Songsofexperience · 20/08/2019 21:33

No BCf

We are just not 'reading the runes' and genuinely think we can throw our weight around and get our own way. Mainly because historically we always have in the past.

It's a measure of our falling international influence that we can't. Yet we are not willing to come to terms with that reality yet.

It seems these strict new border controls are all about crinimality checking. Am I right in saying that this is merely an enforcement of existing laws under the EU rather than something new then?

EU citizens to face ‘tougher criminality rules’ entering UK the day after a no-deal Brexit, say No10

Daniel Hannan @ danieljhannan
It's irresponsible to scare EU nationals in the UK by hinting that their status might change after Brexit. No one's suggesting such a thing.
3rd March 2016.

OP posts:
Peregrina · 20/08/2019 21:43

Red - Hannon also said after the result came out that 'No one is talking of leaving the single market'.
Rees-Mogg talked about having a second referendum.

They will all swear black is white that either they didn't say that, or when the evidence is produced, say it was taken out of context and wasn't what was meant. Like the Rees-Mogg statement that LedbyDonkeys produced - because their heading was a twitter link, he wittered on about not being on twitter at the time. Not denying the substance of what he said.

Latest YouGov polling suggests the 'Boris Bounce' is over.

Westminster voting intention:

CON: 30% (-1)
LAB: 21% (-1)
LDEM: 20% (-1)
BREX: 14% (-)
GRN: 8% (+1)

It seems that the only positive has come for Caroline Lucas after her mad 'all female cabinet'.

OP posts:
BigChocFrenzy · 20/08/2019 21:53

@red afaik, FOM in EU countries rules out criminality checks at the borders, so this is only legally possible after Brexit

Anyway afaik, a criminal record does not remove the right to move to another EU country,
provided that person does not later commit a crime in his host country (in that case, he can then be deported)

Even back before full FOM in the late 1980s, when I still had to apply a residence permit ( renewed every 5 years), there was no criminal record check

It was done on the spot:
I went to the local Foreigners Office with passport, proof of residence, proof of income and 2 photos,
Filled in a short 1-page form - place & date of birth etc, but no physical characteristics except sex
5 mins later, they gave me the residence permit which had one of the photos

Many or most politically engaged voters in their 20s have zero interest in the brexit but 100% devotion to the extinction rebellion and Green issues, I've observed. It's an interest that's probably growing in other demographics too with Greta Thurnberg Atlantic crossing. She makes the good news story. (I've noticed the same youngsters switching from their allegiance to Corbyn too)

Outsomnia · 20/08/2019 22:13

UK is being laughed at. No matter what now.

Hubris has its price. What the actual bleep are they imposing upon us?

I don't thing they know themselves anymore. It is just a cultish thing now.

But anyway.

SwedishEdith · 20/08/2019 22:17

Yep. Climate change denial is a seen as a real 'old person' thing.

The Columnist@Sime0nStylites has been speculating a lot on the prospect of a short-lived 'Boris Bounce' - looks like he was right. All the "immediately ending FOM" has been playing to the BXP voters. If they don't trust/believe Johnson (why would they?), the won't vote for him.

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 20/08/2019 22:20

Is Dominic Cummings the world's first Useful Idiot Savant?

TheABC · 20/08/2019 22:33

It's going to get madder.
I am seriously thinking of stepping away now until September if only to enjoy the last golden weeks of peace before the shit really hits the fan.

Outsomnia · 20/08/2019 22:40

What the heck is wrong with the status quo?

Can anyone tell me me now. Well it looks to me like millions or billions are being spent out of our taxpayer money for this. For what?

RedToothBrush · 20/08/2019 23:07

FFS, it was obvious in May 2016 this was about choosing between The EU and the US.

But NO ONE TALKED ABOUT IT.

SwedishEdith have you read The Columnist today?

Interesting thread. Not convinced myself, but its a thought provoking read if nothing else.

Thread Here

The Columnist @Sime0nStylites
1. Team Johnson is in danger of making Theresa May’s administration look strong and stable.

Voters will only forgive so much and they will most certainly punish incompetence.

Let's hope that the Daily Mirror's belated splash gets more prominence. The one think most in the UK do care about is the NHS. Hence Johnson's bus promise being so effective.

Peregrina · 20/08/2019 23:22

Voters will only forgive so much and they will most certainly punish incompetence.

Perhaps the truebelievers would like to comment.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2019 23:25

There's a definite shifting in mood, attitude and reporting in the last week. (Especially now Project Fear has been seen to be reality.)

BoZo has already fucked it right up!

Peregrina · 20/08/2019 23:30

I must admit I was happy to see Carrie Simmonds barred from America. I wonder if Trump will waive the rules especially.

I laugh because it shows the absurdity of such blanket rules. I have an NZ friend who was born in one of the countries on the list - a white Christian, so not the sort of person that Trump is against, but the passport doesn't say this of course.

SwedishEdith · 20/08/2019 23:31

Not caught up with much on Twitter today, RTB. Am currently distracted by Blackpool manager (?), Ian Holloway blaming VAR on the EU. 😁
