Johnson likes publicity.

Any attention is good attention. Whilst you are talking about how crazy his idea is, the less you come up with your own.

And there it is. The lack of plan to stop no deal. Just a bunch of idiots who argue over who is more right about politics without offering up a practical solution.

Unable to see their own flaws.

And leading us ever closer to the cliff edge and operation Yellowhammer.

He’s reappeared on Line, he has put his application in, a couple of months ago. Which is a relief to hear, wonder how long processing is taking ?

Thank you Carpediem for those of us just entering our prime: larger print version here:

Worth seems like a sweetheart, and is based in Germany, so doesn't 'get' the full fat evil that is johnson and the crash out project, and the glorious revolution to follow.

He thinks an extension will be sought.

He's so wrong.

NEW: Council No deal plans, seen by BBC, reveal “danger to the viability” of refinery under Govt’s temporary tariffs due to absence of level playing field - UK petrol exports to EU, incl Ireland face 4.7% WTO tariff. Govt set import tariff at 0 to minimise inflationary shock /1

Petroleum Industry Association boss Stephen Marcos-Jones tells BBC all the industry is asking for is a level playing field: “we could end up in a situation where it becomes extremely uncompetitive for a domestic industry to to stay in the UK.” /2

Thank you for support earlier. He forgot he had the email, he does have pre-settled status and what they have read suggests he will be able to keep it if he goes with DD whilst she does her year out. I am waiting for a reaction when he hears we are giving his country our votes from 1st September!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/08/2019 19:35

Could you imagine the uproar if we gave another country our eurovision votes?

Songsofexperience · 20/08/2019 19:38

Lol
Or got another country to compete in football on our behalf!

Peregrina · 20/08/2019 19:41

Or got another country to compete in football on our behalf!

I would ask Germany in that case. We might just win something.

British diplomats across the European Union are preparing to take part in a government-wide no-deal Brexit rehearsal, BuzzFeed News has learned.

Diplomats have been told that the rehearsal, which is code-named "Exercise Yellow Rehearse", will be a live cross-Whitehall exercise involving all Foreign Office posts in Europe and government departments in London.

www.buzzfeed.com/albertonardelli/no-deal-yellow-rehearse?ref=hpsplash

Scheduled to take place 3 weeks before exit date.

Exercise Yellow ReheARSE

Is Captain Mainwaring leading the rehearsal?

Jesus wept.

ZazieTheCat · 20/08/2019 20:14

Fucking pantomime.

As you know I take view EU won’t negotiate elimination of backstop. And Brussels sources corroborate today. BUT intriguingly there are tiny hints in Whitehall that in back channels EU & some member states hint at concessions on backstop. No10 keeping this extremely tight.

re Peston tweet:

German / EU officials said months ago that although UK govt and even sometimes Remainers keep tweeting about possible EU backstop concessions,
do NOT believe it until the German press carries the story.

This claim has been made umpteen times by May & BJ's No 10
and I suspect journalists keep being fooled by planted rumours and their own desperate hopes.

Time-limiting or otherwise weakening the backstop would only happen if Ireland freely agrees - the EU will not pressure them to do so

As far as I can tell, Germany expects No Deal is v v likely

Personally, I put No Deal probability at over 95%

@red, anyone else: am I being too pessimistic ?
