Brexit

Hell is ever closer-how's your stash looking?

My brexit cupboard shelves have been depleted due to using up the things that were going out of date like long life milk and juice. We also seem to have raided the baked beans Blush
After today's announcement of buffoon johnson (isn't Johnson an American term for penis?) being our new PM and his threat of brexit on Halloween come hell or high water I figured I should assess my supplies. I still have my original lists somewhere so need to check everything.
Anyone else extra worried now and assessing their supplies?

Cards = I get cards from the card factory 5 for £1.

Ds2s b day next month...gifts all bought.

Started xmas gift buying.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 17:38

I'll get DH's birthday card sorted with Sept pay, probably. I buy personalised cards from eBay for him and the kids.

I need family cards before the end of Oct as that's when I'm seeing them for the last time before Christmas / their birthdays.

DH sorts his family, so that's not my problem!

This thread is getting towards the fuller end of 1000 posts. I was wondering whether we could collaborate on a list of things one may need to put at the top of a new thread as people begin to think of Brexit when kids go back to school and Parliament resumes.

I went through threads a while back nicking other people's ideas and based on Bellini's 3 day post.

We do have the tips thread as well to take ideas from.

I don't have a pet so knowing their needs is limited.

I have two secondary children but am out of touch with little ones. Mine are both autistic so different needs to NT children.

I am not into baking so some ideas about the bits and bobs you need for that.

BlackeyedGruesome · 26/08/2019 18:04

Also all those bits and bobs one has in the drawer of crap in the kitchen that you only use every now and again but are crucial when you need them.

prettybird · 26/08/2019 18:05

Some of the UK has been back at school for up to 2 weeks Wink. Even the private schools are now back. Grin

BlackeyedGruesome · 26/08/2019 18:24

Wolfcub · 26/08/2019 18:28

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 18:29

I got the big whites Persil, but there wasn't a colours one. I've got two HB near work though, so will try those this week.

I've got another two tubes each of adult and kids' toothpaste, so have 3 and 6 of these respectively.

A roll of 50 heavy duty bin bags, so that's a year's worth!

12 more bars of soap too. I'm well on the way to being sorted, hopefully.

I bloody should be after spending £40 in HB anyway!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 18:29

Oh yeah, I got two more boxes of paracetamol. We have plenty of Calpol (liquid and chewable).

prettybird · 26/08/2019 18:32

We don't even have a bank holiday today Wink

BlackeyedGruesome · 26/08/2019 18:36

I really do know that..

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 18:37

I know, prettybird. Kelvingrove Park was bloody lovely today: cooler and you could move. Yesterday was horrible there!

If you wear them, you might want to investigate Christmas jumpers and pyjamas to store too. I bought ours ages ago and have no idea where they are in the Next sale.

Socksontheradiator · 26/08/2019 18:49

Oh we loved doing new Christmas pj's when our babies were small!

prettybird · 26/08/2019 18:59

Nowordforfluffy - the Chief Executive of Glasgow Development Agency (which became Scottish Enterprise Glasgow) once said that, "Glaswegians don't use their parks" Hmm

Dh worked there at the time and still recounts that statement with ShockConfusedShock

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 19:03

What a stupid thing to say! We always see plenty of people when we're there (and at the Botanic Gardens). But it's nice to go during school hours so you don't have to queue for the swings too!

SheLivesInHope · 26/08/2019 19:27

Delurking to say hello all....
I have replenished my stash after eating it all earlier in the year. I've even made a spreadsheet with use by dates and quantities which my inner geek rather enjoyed. I borrowed Jack Monroe's Tin Can Cook from the library last week and the recipes I've tried so far are pretty good!
Anyone else finding it difficult to balance not advertising your stash vs trying to get loved ones to prepare? I can see my dear Mum getting in a mess but she views my boxes of tins with confusion and slight amusement.
Absolutely livid that we're having to do this in the UK in 2019.

BlackeyedGruesome · 26/08/2019 19:28

Christmas dvd for the Christmas box I read about on here.
