My brexit cupboard shelves have been depleted due to using up the things that were going out of date like long life milk and juice. We also seem to have raided the baked beans Blush
After today's announcement of buffoon johnson (isn't Johnson an American term for penis?) being our new PM and his threat of brexit on Halloween come hell or high water I figured I should assess my supplies. I still have my original lists somewhere so need to check everything.
Anyone else extra worried now and assessing their supplies?

i'm a bit late to this thread, but I just did a small shop with my little sister today. We got two boxes of cereal, a box of tea, 4 cans of chick peas, some tomato ketchup,a jar of olives, 3 bags of pasta, some long life milk, a bag of crisps, two tomato sauce jars, a packet of twirls, a chocolate orange and some chocolate buttons.

I don’t have the answer! But if a supermarket has told the bbc they’re considering rationing to businesses, I’d like to think they’ve already given some thought as to how they would actually do this in practice.

singswithitsfingers · 22/08/2019 13:13

@bellinisurge yes, I know. As a long time lurker on other Brexit threads I really appreciate your contribution. Thank you.

We have Christmas alcohol! 1 litre of Absolut vodka and 6 bottles of wine. We have a bottle of Lakes gin which was a gift too. Just need mixers and if all else fails, we can get pissed! 😂

CrunchyCarrot · 22/08/2019 13:50

Wow both Fluffy and Bellini!

Huge allotment, Fluffy, must be a lot of work. Shock

Bellini, I hope you've got the Gin in to use all those on! Grin

Welcome to the stashers thread, Orangecake Smile

I would expect the rationing to be a case of "X amount per any single purchase", as they usually are. Small business owners don't go around carrying business ID badges to Tesco if they run out of milk. I'd assume the reason it's worded the way it is, is to dampen any panic that might be caused by simply saying "we're going to ration what you can buy".

I seem to have stuff for Christmas, too, but only because I've saved up various bits we never used last year. The Christmas pudding is good until 2020, and the mulled wine should be fine.

I'm envious of your various gardening successes! My tomatoes are still looking puny and green, and I might have killed my rosemary. In general the whole garden is an unholy mess. On the other hand, the pear tree seems to have survived my attempts to prune it, so there's more poached pears and pear and ginger crumble in my future.

I had a precription of "just in case" steroids a little while ago, because my asthma has been shit. I was so excited; it would have made me feel slightly better about potential medication issues, if I actually had some emergency steroids at home. Annoyingly, I've had to pop them already. I wonder what the chances are of scoring anymore (specifically as "just in case" - I wouldn't try to lie or anything) before November...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/08/2019 14:58

Maybe I need a dehydrator? Are reasonable ones expensive?

I do have a bottle of sloe gin I put aside last Autumn for Brexit. It's getting to the point where I'll have two soon.

bellinisurge · 22/08/2019 15:10

Mwah ha ha - mine's a Carew and it cost £35 on Amazon. I used my tried and generally trusted scientific method of good reviews/second cheapest. It's not let me down so far.

I have just finished Round 2 of attempting to make raspberry jam. Tried 2 days ago but my 10 jars didn't set, just a (tasty!) but slushy mess. Bought some pectin powder and just done the first 5 jars, I think they'll set this time (only 3 jars made as they cooked down a fair bit). Whew.

bellinisurge · 22/08/2019 16:02

That alleged slushy mess would taste delicious on a boring baked apple, or on porridge, or yoghurt. For example. Don't dismiss syrup fruity yumminess.Smile

That does not include the half eaten packs of seeds and dried fruit .

NoWordForFluffy · 22/08/2019 17:34

@flouncyfanny, you need the gloves I've attached as a screenshot. They're very good!

And the booze is going under the bed, so it'll be fine! Grin

Hoooo · 22/08/2019 21:56

I've got another pack of the morrisons lemon deodorising soaps.
£1 for 4!

Also bought things like pizza bases and topping, cake mixes etc

Orangecake123 · 22/08/2019 22:14

For some reason I didn't think of adding soap. I will get some shampoo too.

MarshmallowManiac · 22/08/2019 22:26

I somehow seem to have accumulated quite a few shampoos and shower gels but have forgotten about soap. Maybe an excursion to Aldi and Lidl (and maybe briefly peeking into Body Shop) might be in order

Hoooo · 22/08/2019 22:42

And remember things like vitamins and supplements

BlackeyedGruesome · 23/08/2019 01:08

Check out the Brexit stash tips thread. Loads of lists.
