Westministenders: Hustings and Humilation

Round 1 has passed.
Boris is winning. But these are the Tories. Surprises might yet happen.

But the chances are the lying buffon is full speed ahead to be the next PM. As long as he manages to keep his mouth shut.

Unfortunately being Prime Minister involves talking. This might prove to be something that bursts the BorisMania rather rapidly.

A GE is still very much on the cards.

And we might face the Constitutional and undemocratic shutting down of parliament to satisfy the Tory Faithless.

Meanwhile the EU couldn't give less shits. They just think we are wasting the time we were granted in good faith.

31st October beckons with No Deal.

What time are the results out tomorrow?

prettybird · 17/06/2019 19:08

Just after 6pm

prettybird · 17/06/2019 19:12

Have to say, I liked and respected Watson's speech: he was saying things that the Labour Party should have been saying a looooong time ago if it weren't led by a Lexiter Hmm: that it was possible to be both British and European; that the EU was a good thing; and that it was compatible with being a democratic socialist.

Not rocket science Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 17/06/2019 19:15

I wish he were leader
Maybe .....

Cherrypi · 17/06/2019 19:17

Thanks.

prettybird · 17/06/2019 19:24

The first job of an MP is to represent the best interests of their constituents Smile

Country first, constituents second and party last Shock

At least, that's what it used to be - and still should be Sad and I think is still in their code of conduct but couldn't swear to it

Basilpots · 17/06/2019 19:37

Pretty do you think Tom Watson would mount a leadership challenge ?

howabout · 17/06/2019 19:55

The other side of the Tom Watson debate.

prettybird · 17/06/2019 19:57

Unfortunately, I think not Sad

Corbyn and his acolytes are totally without self-awareness Sad

But what do I know? Wink I've not been a Labour voter for 20 years Wink - but I was a dedicated one for 20 years before that Confused

Basilpots · 17/06/2019 20:04

Cheers How

Tory leadership hopefuls Rory Stewart and Sajid Javid insist they have enough supporters to stay in race

Oh good, I didn’t have a school run hallucination after all! 50% of respondents to the survey on that page think Rory the Tory should win, with Bozo second on 33% Grin

RedToothBrush · 17/06/2019 20:28

Nope you didn't Queen!

Iambuffy · 17/06/2019 20:30

Oh! How glorious it would be if bojo didn't get through to the last 2!!!

Can't see it though.

Not on his numbers.

He's schmoozing and promising the world to the people that count atm - Tory MPs.

More fool them.

He's a lying fucker. Any MP who trusts or believes him deserves what they get.

ComeAndDance · 17/06/2019 20:30

The EU commission told member states on Thursday (28 March) that conditions should be set for the UK to enter into future trade talks if the divorce deal is not approved by lawmakers in Britain.

So basically the EU is miles ahead again, ready to deal with whatever the UK is doing, incl setting out conditions for a No Deal and the UK.... still havent even decided what it wants.

How on eartth do they think they wll ever have the upper hand in negociations???

Iambuffy · 17/06/2019 20:31

Hope Gove and hunt are kicked off...the motherfuckers.

TheABC · 17/06/2019 20:34

@ComeAndDance, you are giving them too much credit. They are not thinking further than tomorrow and what they need to say to win the selection race.

OublietteBravo · 17/06/2019 20:38

I’d like Raab our tomorrow. Since hoping it’ll be Boris is pointless.

BigChocFrenzy · 17/06/2019 20:53

Raab comes across as nasty imo and would do much worse in a GE than Boris or any of the others

So if you want the Tories to be buggered ....

Violetparis · 17/06/2019 21:04

Iambuffy Grin

pointythings · 17/06/2019 21:09

BCF Tories sadly are like hedgehogs in that they cannot be buggered at all...

jasjas1973 · 17/06/2019 21:10

@FUSOI

I'll take Churchills view....

'The first duty of a member of Parliament is to do what he thinks in his faithful and disinterested judgement is right and necessary for the honour and safety of Great Britain. His second duty is to his constituents, of whom he is the representative but not the delegate

Iambuffy · 17/06/2019 21:11

The erg are basically just a circle jerk away from an evening at the bullingdon.

Fuckers.

BigChocFrenzy · 17/06/2019 21:17

Thanks for the Labour List link, howabout (although I totally disagree with it ! Grin )

The article was criticising what most of us on this thread believe:

even if some of the hard left also support it,
Brexit is a hard right project from creation to execution

There are many reasons we think this, including e.g.:

  • nearly all leading Leavers are hard right Tories / far right Faragists & Kippers, politicians & voters
  • Most Brexiters side with Trump & the far right in the USA and Europe, keep quoting them
  • The right's eagerness for a US FTA which would savage the NHS and our manufacturing and farming / agriculture businesses
  • Tory / Leave hedge-funders like Odey making millions from betting on Sterling sinking - just a preview of what is to come

But one reason is that almost every pro-Brexit quote is from Tory / Faragist sources, hardly anything from a Lexiter

so we have little idea of policies they have post-Brexit to
e.g. reverse inequality, reverse decades of cutting back on the welfare state & under-investment in public services, put climate change measures before US oil & business interests

You have given us a rare glimpse of official Lexiters
Much more useful than all the Faragist & ERG links

It would be very imformative to see a lot more Lexiter plans and links
not just the claim that things will somehow improve if we just reduce immigration - nothing particularly left about that.

BigChocFrenzy · 17/06/2019 21:18

pointy To bugger hedgehogs, you must approach very carefully ....
