DH seems to think the polls are predicting this and wants to emigrate!!

OP posts:

Its not going to happen. He's not an MP.

Presumably the OP is talking about after a GE.... and based on current polls the Brexit Party will win seats, and Nigel Farage would be one... he’d probably stand in somewhere like Boston to give himself the best chance of a seat.

The thought of him being PM appals me... I don’t think the country would go that mad... but then I was convinced the US wouldn’t vote Trump.

Oakenbeach · 04/06/2019 01:04

The Euros were a protest vote and a low turnout
And even if he were: in a GE people will troop back to their blue or red rosettes.

I disagree.... I strongly believe we’re in the midst of a re-alignment. I expect people were saying the same 100 years ago about the Tories and Liberals.

I think the Tories will split some time in the autumn as the prospect of a no-deal will mean the Tory moderates will vote down the Government.... Labour too could split as the tensions become unbearable with a GE to fight....

The ensuing GE will involve a Brexit Party/ ERG Tory alliance versus a Remain coalition and a marginalised left-wing Lexiter Labour Party still led by Corbyn.

The Remain coalition will be especially fragile as many they won’t want anything to do the ex-Tory remainers.

The defining moment will be how this tension works itself out. If they hold their noses and campaign as a united force, a Remain-led coalition win, a referendum will follow and we’ll
stay in. If they can’t cooperate, the Remain vote is split and the Brexiteers win and we’re out
with a no-deal.

Which ever side is most united will win...

It would serve him right but he's far too wily to put himself in a position where he'd have to take some blame. Thank god.

jasjas1973 · 04/06/2019 05:49

Its very doubtful there will be a GE followed by an EU referendum, at least not whilst we are still IN the EU.

The evidence so far, is that the Remain parties or rather the remain elements within Lab/Con cannot organise themselves, its Green or LibDem only if you are Pro Remain.

I think most Cons will be perfectly happy working with BXP, they share many common views.

abbiecloud · 07/06/2019 06:33

They didn't win Peterborough

EngTech · 07/06/2019 06:42

Could always be JC as PM though 😳

Peregrina · 07/06/2019 06:48

Wasn't Farage talking about winning hundreds of seats in a GE? Looks like he and his 'new' party need more than big gobs to win even one Parliamentary seat.

bellinisurge · 07/06/2019 07:06

Fucking dickwipes couldn't even win in a strong leave area where the previous MP was actually corrupt. Doubt they will "take the country " if they couldn't win Peterborough.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 07/06/2019 07:10

Thank fuck for that. Got up for a pregnant wee at 3am and read the news, so relieved.

madcatladyforever · 07/06/2019 07:13

No we won't. Parties like UKIP and Brexit party always get a very good vote in the European elections because of the issues but when it comes to general elections people always vote for a party that will tackle their specific issues not a one issue party.
They have failed to get any MPs and UKIP only ever had one MP.

WhenIsTheEasyBit · 07/06/2019 07:13

Very disorienting to feel cheered by political news after so long a period of relentless grimness.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 07/06/2019 08:18

Just seen his cunty chops on the news in Peterborough. Wish I had got up earlier so I could go down and shout at him

PortiaCastis · 07/06/2019 08:24

I woke up expecting grim news and the start of something nasty but no the people of Peterborough have seen sense Halo

Flobochin · 07/06/2019 10:33

What?

To elect a member of an anti Jewish party?

Flobochin · 07/06/2019 10:33

You have odd values.

Peregrina · 07/06/2019 10:44

Farage is on record as an anti-Semite, so it's a good job his party didn't get in, if that is what you are worried about.

Zipee · 07/06/2019 13:44

Hilarious that anti jewish point.

letsrunfar · 07/06/2019 13:51

Peterborough result sends another shot across the Tory bows. Like has been said recently , vote Brexit Party, get Labour.

All the Tory leadership hopefuls know now, if they didn't before, Brexit will have to be delivered before another election.

The remain ship has sailed along with May's soft Brexit. They'll be MP's wishing they'd supported May come Halloween!

Jason118 · 07/06/2019 14:06

As a solution, the remain ship is moor d gently with engines runningSmileSmile

letsrunfar · 07/06/2019 14:57

Waiting to take the remainers off to the blue yonder on the 1st of November!

Jason118 · 07/06/2019 16:18

@letsrunfar
If it was an option, I think many would be delighted to do so Smile

ContinuityError · 07/06/2019 18:20

Remain ship

Oh yes, there’s a precedent for this.

It was called The Ark.

Peregrina · 07/06/2019 19:56

May never had a soft Brexit in mind - but the ERG especially scuppered what deal she did have.

But this is a thread about Farage, whose party should have been the runaway winner yesterday. It wasn't so he had to run and hide in the gents.

time4chocolate · 07/06/2019 22:15

Actually, what you should find a bit concerning is that a party that is a matter of a few weeks old and with no manifestos whatsoever came 2nd in a by election and only by a couple of percentage points.

If you had told someone that 5 years ago they would have said you were mad. Strange times.

Indeed. And even more concerning is the fact the whole country is supposed to suck up the so called ‘will’ of people with such a lack of critical thinking that they’d vote for said party.
