The Euros were a protest vote and a low turnout
And even if he were: in a GE people will troop back to their blue or red rosettes.
I disagree.... I strongly believe we’re in the midst of a re-alignment. I expect people were saying the same 100 years ago about the Tories and Liberals.
I think the Tories will split some time in the autumn as the prospect of a no-deal will mean the Tory moderates will vote down the Government.... Labour too could split as the tensions become unbearable with a GE to fight....
The ensuing GE will involve a Brexit Party/ ERG Tory alliance versus a Remain coalition and a marginalised left-wing Lexiter Labour Party still led by Corbyn.
The Remain coalition will be especially fragile as many they won’t want anything to do the ex-Tory remainers.
The defining moment will be how this tension works itself out. If they hold their noses and campaign as a united force, a Remain-led coalition win, a referendum will follow and we’ll
stay in. If they can’t cooperate, the Remain vote is split and the Brexiteers win and we’re out
with a no-deal.
Which ever side is most united will win...
