Westminstenders: 1001 Ways to wait for EUCO - Sprouts, Nits and Brexit

Not much more to say other than, all we can do is wait to hear our fate.

Which seems to lie in the hands of Macron.

I think these tweet sums a lot of it up from a couple of jaded soft leavers

Iain Martin @ iainmartin1
This terrible farce in Brussels tonight is like being British during the eurovision song contest. British entrant awaits fate, watching humiliating results come in, trying to smile for the audience back home.

George Trefgarne @georgetrefgarne
To be honest I think Buck’s Fizz and Cheryl thingummy would have made a better job of it

My advice: Don't wait up!

Pippa Crerar @pippacrerar
EU source on Macron: "He is in a bit of a schizophrenic situation - (his) domestic audience demands that he is tough on Britain for historic reasons. On the other hand, France is among the most-hit in any no-deal Brexit. It will take hours before we pull him down from his tree."

So Macron may end up being the one who gets the UK what it wants but is doing it to be tough on us. I'm not sure I understand EU politics.

Go DGR

HazardGhost · 11/04/2019 13:41

Do it DGR then I can vote for you Grin

lonelyplanetmum · 11/04/2019 13:45

Go DGR (and other tempted Westminsterenders.)

The initial bit is just 4 weeks frenetic activity I guess...

Kate Proctor @ kateproctores
May tells MPs to reflect over the Easter recess, and then come back to Parliament to try and break the impasse.

Basically can everyone chill out, eat some chocolate, and vote for a deal.

All options should remain on the table including the option of a public vote says
@jeremycorbyn

RedToothBrush · 11/04/2019 13:49

Corbyn saying that whatever happens Labour have cause to be concerned about what some Tory leadership candidates are suggesting in terms of human rights, workers rights, tax havens and no deal remain a big concern that mustnt be ignored.

That's one of the reasons why no one knows who their MEP is.

Correction, I know the names of four of mine without having to look them up. Two of which, Farage and Hannan I most certainly did not vote for.

MadAboutWands · 11/04/2019 13:57

I blame TM and DC for the whole mess brexit is.
I also blame voters who still voted for the conservatives after they had made their views in brexit very clear. As far as I am concerned, they have voted for TM Brexit, which includes the end of FOM and making EU citizens immigrants in the country (Worth remembering that Settled Status is just that. Indefinite leave to remain. Except that it’s not even as good as that because we don’t even have a piece of paper to prove it). They also have voted for her brexit unicorn.

RedToothBrush · 11/04/2019 13:59

Beth Rigby@bethrigby
May points out to Corbyn that she did offer talks earlier but he turned them down. Tory source told me this week their polling had showed Corbyn’s initial refusal to engage in x-party talks played very badly with the public #euco #brexit

I got a TIG email as well and I’ll think about it. I recently got displeased at work and threatened - well sort of threatened - resignation, but they rolled over. So I don’t have any spare time for politics atm! I had thought of it but I do like my job...

BestIsWest · 11/04/2019 14:02

Pmk

BestIsWest · 11/04/2019 14:04

DH said the same thing about no one knowing the names of their MEPs last night, at which point I was pleased to put him right.

lonelyplanetmum · 11/04/2019 14:04

Born you should do it! You are so insightful and articulate and ...Honest it would shine through!

ElenadeClermont · 11/04/2019 14:07

Ian Dunt is slightly wrong in that the October deadline has no point. Of course it does. They do not want us to mess up their Christmas with our last-minute scrambling.

borntobequiet · 11/04/2019 14:07

Thanks, lonely...I’ll think...don’t like to wimp out of things...

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 11/04/2019 14:08

I got the TIG email as well.

I’ve allowed myself a few moments daydreaming of becoming an MEP and making it my business to take down Vile-Little-Man-Frog every time he opens his mouth.

HazardGhost · 11/04/2019 14:09

born if I remember right I could vote for you to...! Do it! It'll be fun, would rather be a mep then a mp.

Wakemeuuuup · 11/04/2019 14:10

Thanks Red for the new thread. Thanks also to the pp (sorry, can't remember who it was) who posted the ledbydonkeys fundraising page.

I'm looking forward to the EP elections now. Would be lovely to see some movement from TM towards a compromise.

HazardGhost · 11/04/2019 14:10

Yes singing !!!!

Take down frog man be our hero!

lonelyplanetmum · 11/04/2019 14:18

Look to anyone in here thinking of standing in the next 4 weeks to be an MEP.

If this can be touted by a leading newspaper as the next PM - you can be an MEP!

enochroot · 11/04/2019 14:22

Is there a danger of too many pro-remainer candidates fragmenting the vote in the EU elections?

phpolly · 11/04/2019 14:26

That is some very satisfying footage of Assange getting dragged out of the Ecuadorian Embassy. (I love the expression of the policeman standing at the back of the van.) I so hope that Farage, Banks, Boris, and whomever else might be implicated are quaking in their boots right now.

Windowsareforcheaters · 11/04/2019 14:26

EU elections are a party list system, so you don't vote for individuals.

Party policy of Brexit will be what matters.

LibDems may well get my vote.

HazardGhost · 11/04/2019 14:27

I used to think i couldnt hate any politician more then Farage but Francois has changed my mind. Farage has showmanship, he's vile but you can see some skill in his repulsiveness...Mark Francois? A useless red angry potatoe.
