So how are the celebrating going?

Didn’t exactly go to plan did it?

Has it started to sink in what a fucking mess this all is?

So Born how to you envisage leaving actually working

As I have said I think there are many good reasons why not being in the EU is good but I have yet to see a way that actually achieves us leaving for the better

CostanzaG I dont think your husband has a clue how we can leave Brexit well then Im afraid. Because if he did he would have had it published by now

We are a laughing stock and its nothing to do with leavers or remainers or any of the voters but squarely at the feet of our Government who has proven how inept and self serving they are

Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:03

mummmy I genuinely don’t understand how anyone can be supportive of TMs actions - they are despicable.

That’s why I find all these comments about ‘democracy’ so ridiculously ironic.

On what planet is ‘democracy’ a stubborn woman forcing the same vote as many times as she needs to until she gets the result she want.

Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:06

dapple if your other half said

‘I have lots more knowledge than you’

or

‘you are not politically minded or educated at all’

What would your reaction be?

Any update on why you think the right to vote comes without responsibility?

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:08

its nothing to do with leavers or remainers or any of the voters

I completely disagree with that.

Those who voted for this need to own it - it has everything to do with them.

I've never Been embarrassed what people think of me.

I care not one jot that people think we're a laughing stock!

I'm glad if satirists across the EU are getting some light relief from this.

It must be a relief to look outside the troubles of their own countries.

How was Paris today?

Bornfreebutinchains · 30/03/2019 20:13

Listening to Hamilton tonight and what we are missing is the visionaries.

Positive people to lead is forward and drown out the nayersayers

{On what planet is ‘democracy’ a stubborn woman forcing the same vote as many times as she needs to until she gets the result she want.}

The problem is not 'democracy' but the way the parliamentary process has been played.
The UK government couldn't be arsed to come up with a leaving document that would not damage the integrity of the EU so the EU drafted much of the WA, which Theresa agreed to in November, along with the EU27.
The choice can only be the WA, revoke, or leave with no agreement (crash out). The HoC has said no to all 3 options so as it stands the International legal option, crashing out stands as the default.
The UK 'not liking' the WA is not the EU's problem. They are still waiting for the UK to decide.

Bornfreebutinchains · 30/03/2019 20:15

Worse things have happened and countries Been fine.

Quartz2208 · 30/03/2019 20:16

This is where we disagree Bearbehind - they were asked a question remain or leave and they answered which they would prefer. Simple as. Its not their fault that was all they were asked (incorrectly in my opinion it should have been two tier). That the leave campaign made incorrect and fraudulent claims. Or that the next 3 years would be spent with in fighting and a complete lack of a plan (even the WA TM holds dear isnt really an exit plan just a starting point)

They were asked a question and they honestly answered it - how can it be their fault. No it has to be owned by Cameron/Johnson/Rees Mogg/Gove/Corbyn etc and no one else. That their sheer arrogance and need for power has got us into this mess.

Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:16

Worse things have happened and countries Been fine.

I think that perfectly demonstrates how little knowledge you actually have.

“Worse things have happened and countries Been fine.”

Like?

Quartz2208 · 30/03/2019 20:17

Bornfree you havent answered how you think it should work though how we should leave

Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:19

quartz that is actually really patronising.

You are effectively saying every voter wasn’t capable of knowing what they wanted.

Leavers constantly tell us they knew exactly what they wanted, and very few are regretting their choice so the need to fucking own it.
.

OP posts:
Quartz2208 · 30/03/2019 20:26

No its not it is saying that the referendum asked one question do you want to stay or leave the EU - it never asked anything more than that. It never asked how they wanted it to happen, how they thought it could happen simply whether to leave or remain

They were capable of knowing what they wanted within the parameters of the question asked. Same as any time we vote in a General Election - very few voters actually know or need to know how most political and legal systems work - we trust that our vote will be for people who do

Leavers constantly tell us they knew exactly what they wanted, and very few are regretting their choice so the need to fucking own it.

Is surely equally patronising as it is saying they dont regret it because they dont understand what is coming

Really not sure why we are arguing though. I am certainly not a leaver (although I have concerns about the EU)

Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:28

let’s agree to disagree on that quartz 😁

American independence?

Can you imagine how afraid royalists were. They never thought a ramshackle country could exist without a king. It's was Very scary radical thought at that time.

Now look at them ( America)

Henry 8th doing the first brexit... breaking away from Rome... divorcing us from Pope. At that time it was an earth shattering thing to do.
I can't relay how immense that was at that time.
French Revolution?
Didn't just happen When peasant s marched on Versailles it happened in many waves....many different movements coming forward.. until....

Even the horrific world wars had some good come of them!
Most nations are not in the EU And are managing fine.

BertrandRussell · 30/03/2019 20:32

To quote “the most hated man on Mumsnet” James O ‘Brian -“The most important thing to do in the coming days (along with the petition & march) is to resist the desperate attempts of senior Brexiters to cast criticism of them as insulting Brexit voters. The former are discredited, delusional & deceitful; the latter our friends & family.”

Bornfreebutinchains · 30/03/2019 20:33

Nothing will allay remainers fears. nothing.

People think Armageddon is coming!!

We are just going to be totally autonomous that's it!!

Quartz2208 · 30/03/2019 20:33

Bear to be fair my hatred and dislike of our current politicians drives a lot of it. I have no idea what on earth to do with a General Election at all. Someone somewhere needs to create a much needed central party

And it leads to my biggest issue with all of this - why on earth would anyone want to give them any more power (although in practice I dont actually think leaving the EU particularly would but that is another thread)

Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:34

Most nations are not in the EU And are managing fine.

I think this is up there with ‘they need us more than we need them’ in terms or arrogance and rank stupidity.

Most nations are not an island who’s closest neighbours are the EU.

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 30/03/2019 20:36

We are just going to be totally autonomous that's it!!

Except for all those EU rules we still have to abide by, with no say in them.

Totally autonomous apart from that.

He's not politically educated 😂 he is educted but history, politics, socialism, Etc are not his thing.

May will be yet another PM who never gets to be a Lord...or Lady...
How have we come to this, that each one dips out on a disaster.

Quartz2208 · 30/03/2019 20:41

The big 7 are 4 EU countries (including us) US Canada and Japan

We are none of those other 3 without the EU - we will lose that completely

Sillybilly1234 · 30/03/2019 20:43

@Bearbehind just grow up.
