Westminstenders: Happy Brexit Day!

Happy Brexit day!

Oh wait. No its not.

May looks like she is going to bring the MVIII (Meaningful Vote 3) tomorrow minus the PD (political declaration).

The legalities of this are questionable should the vote pass. The MV needs to have an accompanying PD, by law under the terms of the Withdrawal Act.

That's kind of irrelevant given the likelihood of the deal passing anyway. The DUP have apparently negotiated a 'Stormont Lock' to get more assurances, only for them promptly to say there's no chance of them voting for the deal anyway.

The vote is all about Labour v Conservatives and where we can lay the blame for no deal in two weeks time.

Meanwhile we are already into a prolonged Tory Leader Election with all its glorious gentlemanly behaviour.

Anyway its time for extra time and national riots for delaying Brexit.

I was wondering about Skinner

havingtochangeusernameagain · 29/03/2019 15:11

Ken Clarke voted in favour of the deal. That surprises me a bit - I guess he thinks it's all to play for with the second stage (which I also did but am too scared of who may take over from May).

TheElementsSong · 29/03/2019 15:11

State broadcaster says 'thousands' at the demo in Parliament Square.

Wait until Fullfacts gets hold of that footage, and proves using MATHSSSSS that there are 8 million marchers Grin

Although this is all stressful and tense; it's not really a big surprise, is it? The whole thing I mean.

Although it's not really funny...

Interesting twin-podial arrangements in Parliament Square: People's Front of Brexit on one side, Brexit People's Front across the way.

fruitpastille · 29/03/2019 15:16

Delurking...

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 29/03/2019 15:17

^There’s a special rung in hell for the Labour MPs who vote for a Tory Brexit. Not

Agreed, right next to Johnson and Gove.

We can revoke even if we don't hold European Parliamentary elections - you can take it from @MartinSelmayr.

On 12 April, right before midnight #lastchance

Tanith · 29/03/2019 15:17

Indeed. And I'd like to recommend cross stitch for when anger starts to get too much. You get to stab something 10,000 times and instead of injuries you get a beautiful picture.

Try felting - you can really take out your aggressions with that needle Smile

MockerstheFeManist · 29/03/2019 15:18

17.4 Million, shirley?

Theo Usherwood @theousherwood
The Prime Minister is of course right: MPs can find a way forward next Monday, they can legislate for that on Wednesday to set an end point (which would need to be agreed with the EU) but they will still need to pass a Withdrawal Agreement.

I was wondering about Skinner too. Hoey will do whatever the DUP do.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 15:19

The meaningless vote will be back im hearing.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 29/03/2019 15:21

EweSurname I was just coming to post the same tweets. Don't have much time for Selmayr, but thank you to him for confirming the option to revoke. I still think a long extension is more likely though.

Choreographed ages ago.

Not only that, it looks like the only way to get out of the palace of Westminster safely will probably be by boat.

1922 committee spring reception on Monday night as pressure mounts on May to quit

They could order a cake, a Rees-Moggagram, and the Dagenham girl pipers. She's still invulnerable. Excepting dirty tricks (and I refuse to believe there's no dirt somewhere on her) she is stuck fast. There is no way to force her to do anything after the confidence vote trick failed.

I wonder if she was giving them a hint a while ago when she said she wouldn't lead them into the next election (although my memory was the exact phrasing was "2022 election" Hmm). Suggesting if they want her to go, they need to have a General Election. If that's the case, it's the one single decision she's made I might think isn't shit.

DGRossetti · 29/03/2019 15:24

Is Traitors Gate still in working order ?

BollocksToBrexit · 29/03/2019 15:25

FFS. What are these idiots playing at. No to everything. They are fools if they think the EU is going to continue to sit back patiently while they fuck around with party politics in Westminster. I have a mate who works with politicians within the EU. He told me that at the last summit they were a few countries who are now so fucked off with Britain that they were pressing for the UK to just be kicked out.

CordeliaEarhart · 29/03/2019 15:27

Tanith, I might give it a go, but it looks a lot harder than cross stitch so I don't think I have the skill yet!
