Westminstenders: Happy Brexit Day!

Happy Brexit day!

Oh wait. No its not.

May looks like she is going to bring the MVIII (Meaningful Vote 3) tomorrow minus the PD (political declaration).

The legalities of this are questionable should the vote pass. The MV needs to have an accompanying PD, by law under the terms of the Withdrawal Act.

That's kind of irrelevant given the likelihood of the deal passing anyway. The DUP have apparently negotiated a 'Stormont Lock' to get more assurances, only for them promptly to say there's no chance of them voting for the deal anyway.

The vote is all about Labour v Conservatives and where we can lay the blame for no deal in two weeks time.

Meanwhile we are already into a prolonged Tory Leader Election with all its glorious gentlemanly behaviour.

Anyway its time for extra time and national riots for delaying Brexit.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 29/03/2019 14:47

She’ll bring it back again next week...

Langrish · 29/03/2019 14:48

FedupofBrexit: grab silver linings where you can 😁

tobee · 29/03/2019 14:48

I've said it here before but I'd quite like a cuddle with Ian Blackford Grin

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 14:48

J C is a complete idiot. Nobody will vote for him : not enough people to get him elected anyway.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 29/03/2019 14:48

Caroline Lucas has also been a star during this whole three years

Tomtontom · 29/03/2019 14:48

@prettybird A PV would be on the Labour manifesto, they've already said that. But as the Tories are changing leader we need a GE to determine if the country wants their leader to be PM.

And keep in mind, their next leader could well be a hard Brexiteer. They're never going to give us a PV.

I do like John's tie today 👔

prettybird · 29/03/2019 14:49

She is truly a Zombie PM Confused

She will keep going and keep going no matter how many times she or rather the WA is killed Sad

CordeliaEarhart · 29/03/2019 14:49

I think she is going to go scorched earth on this one. HoC better be ready, and able, to find a way to force her to extend rather than go for No Deal. As I understand it, EU council will only deal with the Prime Minister so if she chooses not to ask for an extension we're screwed. Cos there's no time to oust her and get a new PM in.

Horehound · 29/03/2019 14:49

She still seems to think she will bring it back again.
She does really need to let it go now.
How can made In say they can decide date of no deal. It was decided. 12th April...

I would not put it past her to bring mark 4 back to the table.

tobee · 29/03/2019 14:50

Currently half pleased that the government lost on March 29th. Half terrified thugs on the street will kick off. Sad

Icantreachthepretzels · 29/03/2019 14:50

She can't bring it back without the PD because of Erskine May. And she can't bring it back with the PD because of Erskine May.

If she wants to bring it back she needs to find a way to change it significantly - and she doesn't have that power.

Besides - today was emotive - it was meant to be brexit day. Without that and having been made to look like turncoat twats already, she won't necessarily have BJ and JRM on side.

My current analysis of the situation.

DadDadDad would Bercow allow the WA to come back yet again?

MissMalice · 29/03/2019 14:51

Presumably she’d have to think of another procedural twist to bring it back again?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/03/2019 14:51

Donald Tusk has just said European council on 10th April

I don't even know how to feel anymore!

Does this make crashing out on the 12th more likely? I presume so... However, I've also always felt that revoke would only happen if we were really out of options other than no deal...

But then the deal going through would have prevented no deal, but not necessarily a hard brexit Canada style...although I don't think parliament are finding hard brexit too palatable...

In view of the rejection of the Withdrawal Agreement by the House of Commons, I have decided to call a European Council on 10 April. #Brexit

wheresmymojo · 29/03/2019 14:52

I wouldn't want to be a Remain MP leaving Parliament today through the mob that I assume is outside now
