Westminstenders: Indicative Crossiants

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2019 18:23

Tomorrow the Indicative debate starts at 3pm

The Speaker will choose options to go to vote.

Vote at 7pm for yes or no for each option.

7.30pm The SI debate on extension followed by vote.

Announcement of the indicative vote sometime between 8.15pm and 9.30pm

Meanwhile the DUP have indicated they would prefer a long delay (and presumably EU elections by default) rather than May's deal, in a strange twist of Brexit.

Boris, gove et al will be voting for May's deal now.

They have no integrity.

And, bottom line, their own ambition is all they care about.

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 18:22

I hope her deal is voted down.
I don't want no deal but all this messing about is annoying. She is now using blackmail! It's last chance for the deal isn't it? If speaker lets it go through.

LonelyTiredandLow · 27/03/2019 18:22

But they also have to win some Labour voters, no? Not just ERG and DUP. So why would a Labour MP decide this was a reason to sign WA - just because the next person might be easier to work with? They must be aware it will be an ERG member...?

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 18:22

What has been striking today, has been how many good speeches have come from moderate Tories.

I don't agree with all of what they have said but the quality has been substantially higher than in other Brexit debates.

Angry Angry Angry

Flowerplower · 27/03/2019 18:23

BoJo is such a divisive figure, whereas surely the Tory party and its members would now want someone who could bring the party together. On the other hand, a lot of people who aren't paying much attention just think he's amusing and would be fun to see in their televisions more often. He certainly knows how to get himself talked about and knows bad publicity is better than no publicity.

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 18:24

Dirty rotten snakes. All of them.
I hope that all the tories lose their seats over this ( they won't of course , but a few might)
All this has shown them up for what they are. Party before country. As always.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 18:24

So Watt's source is saying that they won't bother voting on the WA again, they'll go straight to WAIB? And they're allowed to do that?

ContinuityError · 27/03/2019 18:25

Lordy, even Piers Moron has a point here:

@piersmorgan

^So: if Theresa May FAILS to get her useless Brexit plan passed, she doesn’t have to fire herself & can carry on running the country for another few years. But if she SUCCEEDS, she has to fire herself.
Nothing more perfectly epitomises the insanity of this Brexit farce.^

Flowerplower · 27/03/2019 18:26

She also needs to purpose any of the votes already had for her deal...and that's far from a given. Although she will have won over more hard core Brexiteers who would prefer no deal, I think a few moderate Remainers will be less willing to compromise now that the potential possibility of a softer Brexit is on the table.

Pegsinarow · 27/03/2019 18:26

Watching Parliament TV just now, I don't understand why Ken Clarke and co were encouraging Remainer MPs to vote for May's WA even though he and they would prefer Revoke, when this will now deliver the process in to the hands of a Brexiteer?

Is it because he thinks there is a greater possibility of No Deal now or is it just that TM has proved so poor a PM that almost anyone else would be better?

Flowerplower · 27/03/2019 18:27

Purpose = not lose

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 18:27

Morgan is a arrogant bore but that sums up things really well! He can put his finger on the pulse at times.
Some bloke on bbc news 24 saying ' country before party' pfff! As if

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 18:29

I'm a bit confused. How can May bring WA back to vote on it when Berkow said this afternoon it has to pass his test? It hasn't changed so how else can she bring it ?Confused

Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 18:30

What is WAIB please?Blush

LonelyTiredandLow · 27/03/2019 18:30

I think there is an idea that her WA was about as soft as a Brexit as we were going to get...I suspect Ken Clarke is worried it might end up as No Deal or strong in one area and weak in another (from a remain perspective). Also avoids issue of another ref which might not change the end result? That's all I can think of!

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 18:32

Johnson is a dangerous individual.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 18:32

Harry Cole @MrHarryCole
Boris Johnson tells ERG he’s backing deal

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 18:32

Withdrawal Agreement Implementation Bill.

But it's not a deal, so we can't know that it's as soft as we'll get!

BercowsSilkTie · 27/03/2019 18:34

Backing the deal that Bercow has said she can't bring back?
I'm so confused Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 27/03/2019 18:34

What was the last majority against the WA? Is it 69 people she needs to swing?

The80sweregreat · 27/03/2019 18:34

Boris is a a massive hypocrite.

67chevvyimpala · 27/03/2019 18:37

Ok.

So, I may have had a potentially fatal amount of lemon drizzle BUT...

If the hypocritical scumbags vote for the WA and TM actually keeps her word and resigns then maybe bojo could become PM and revoke??

Because - honestly - I wouldn't put it past the fucker.

RedToothBrush · 27/03/2019 18:37

The WAIB is the Withdrawal Agreement Implementation Bill.

This has not be published yet. Its purpose is to implement the WA. The WA was supposed to pass the MV before it went to the implementation phase, otherwise the MV is not Meaningful.

Yes. You read this right.

They want to implement something which has not been approved by parliament.

Its an arse about face way of forcing it though. The effect could be to make it even more difficult if there are concerns over how the implementation is intended to work.

OP posts:
Sostenueto · 27/03/2019 18:38

Berkow would know how the government would try to bring WA through another route so if they can do that why his warning to them today?
