Proud Bristolian here!

Frazzled2207 · 22/03/2019 17:40

I'm also disappointed that apparently only 5.9% of my constituency has signed. I don't really get it because everyone I know has (or says they have)

AnnieKenney · 22/03/2019 17:46

Bristol West MP is Thangham Debbonaire and she is a friend of women beyond compare. I hacecworked with her for 30;years+ and trust her implicitly.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 22/03/2019 17:47

I used to live in disgraced MP Liam Fox's constituency (got to give him his full title). It's up to 7.4% signed there now (North Somerset)

Apileofballyhoo · 22/03/2019 18:24

100,000 an hour roughly. Will it speed up or slow down now the working day is over?

IceRebel · 22/03/2019 18:28

I'm impressed to see how much it's grown since i've been out at work. Here's hoping the numbers keep rising.

Wheresthebeach · 22/03/2019 18:52

The weekend will be interesting! Hopefully the numbers will continue to rise into next week.

KennDodd · 22/03/2019 18:57

The numbers haven't moved for ages?

MrPan · 22/03/2019 18:58

I think it gets updated in chunks.

Don't forget your kid can sign up too, it's relating to their future anyway. Anyone with a email account can sign. Grin

Dohangoversgetworseasyougetold · 22/03/2019 19:02

I don't want to say on here who my MP is, but he's a cunt. I'm not surprised that so few people in my constituency have signed. They'd elect a dog biscuit round here if it wore a blue rosette.

IceRebel · 22/03/2019 19:02

The numbers haven't moved for ages?

Haha they're listening, it's just gone up again. Grin

Poor little Nige is crying, saying it's not fair... people who aren't properly British are signing, there's been 'Russian collusion', etc.. He wants an enquiry, in fact.

I think it would be nice if you all wrote to reassure him that you signed the petition and are local people signing about local issues. His email is:

[email protected]

It's in the public domain anyway, so feel free to share.

Looks like the good folks of Edinburgh have done well in signing the petition (and East Lothian which is a fairly rural area!)

trilbydoll · 22/03/2019 19:34

The main thing I've just discovered is that neither the constituency I grew up in or the one I live in are called what I thought they were Confused I had to scroll through the whole list. That feels like a whole new level of being uninformed. Only 8% here, I might start knocking on doors Grin

IceRebel · 22/03/2019 19:36

I'm having a hard time biting my tongue at the people online claiming the petition is hacked, because it has been signed by people with foreign sounding names.

Would I be unreasonable to point out that by their logic, 8 of the top 25 voting constituencies MPs would actually be hacking the petition should they vote.

Thangam Debbonaire
Keir Starme
Tulip Siddiq
Rushanara Ali
Chuka Umunna
Marsha De Cordova
Rupa Huq
Rosena Allin-Khan

JuniperNarni · 22/03/2019 19:39

Can I have a link to the figures please

IceRebel · 22/03/2019 19:40

JuniperNarni · 22/03/2019 19:44

Thanks for the link, not surprised at all to see the constituency I live in right down near the bottom.

plinkyplonkyploo · 22/03/2019 20:19

Haven’t rtft.
We need to push for this to get to >17m. With >17m the argument that Brexit is the will of the people will be untenable.

With a targeted coordinated effort of fundraising and mobilisation over the next 2 weeks it’s totally doable. For example if everyone who’s signed so far gave £1 that would be >£3m. More than enough to pay for a campaign.

The challenge is leadership and bringing all the different organisations together to divide and conquer and focus on this target.

You could have different focus areas
Students ( coordinate with NUS etc)
Social media ( maybe billboards too)
Door to door in certain areas

Just some rough thoughts. There will be others more experienced than me who can contribute more.

Does anyone have connections to any of the big remain organisations? I have emailed them but no response yet. It’s possible!!

BlackeyedGruesome · 22/03/2019 20:20

All local constituencies are below 10% most well below.

Arowana · 22/03/2019 20:34

Signed

Graphista · 22/03/2019 20:51

Just seen this on Facebook/huff post

Also (warning the comments are shocking!)

Almost 7% here good but could do better. But lots of pensioners so lots of people that don't really do sm. Other constituencies I've lived in doing far better particularly in glasgow.

I do think and am incredibly disappointed that Labour didn't come out in clear favour of remain particularly ahead of the last general election, I really think they missed a trick there.

Yes >17 million voted leave but >16 million voted remain and by the time of the last election I suspect quite a few leavers had changed their minds.

I really do think if they'd been clear Remainers providing SOMEONE viable for Remainers to vote for, hell even if lib dems had I suspect that would have prevented a Tory majority and quite possibly we wouldn't be in quite as much a mess now!!

Almost all uk wide political parties have completely ignored Remainers.

Mner2019 · 22/03/2019 20:53

Signed but May has has her fingers in her ears.

ReleaseTheBats · 22/03/2019 20:57

"With >17m the argument that Brexit is the will of the people will be untenable."

Hardly. Even on this thread people are encouraging people who aren't eligible to vote to sign.
