About 84 at 5% which is 3 up from yesterday. I may have lost count and be one out. It has updated a few times since I started counting this morning.

Hoxton · 23/03/2019 09:17

Apparently, the founder of the petition had made rather unsavoury social media comments about shooting TM, and also taking a gun into the HOC.

Thoughts?

BlackeyedGruesome · 23/03/2019 09:20

Proof?

All threats of violence against anyone are wrong.

Really? Source? I didn't see anything alarming in the twitter feed - though it is focused on this one issue.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 23/03/2019 09:22

Lord Adonis said he was going to table a petition for revocation at 2.5 million.
Surely the signatures will go up even more today with the March?
I can’t understand why Revoke is seen as a “Unicorn option”

Hoxton · 23/03/2019 09:22

Won't let me attach screen shots, however can be searched online.

SaskiaRembrandt · 23/03/2019 09:23

Apparently, the founder of the petition had made rather unsavoury social media comments about shooting TM, and also taking a gun into the HOC.

She was clearly being hyperbolic.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 23/03/2019 09:24

Then a link?

Hoxton · 23/03/2019 09:24

If it was a Leaver suggesting similar, would you write it off as hyperbole?
Double standards much?

SaskiaRembrandt · 23/03/2019 09:27

If it was a Leaver suggesting similar, would you write it off as hyperbole?

In that context, yes. Sorry, I don't get my knickers in a bunch about obvious hyperbole.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 23/03/2019 09:29

Hmm. I don't like what she said there.

She should really apologise for that.

But what the hell is the Daily Mail doing fanning the flames? Incendiary.

MockerstheFeManist · 23/03/2019 09:31

....If I got hold of her 'gun' I'd shoot her.

This is a metaphorical 'gun' TM is holding to Parliament's head: Back my deal or else...

Perhaps in poor taste.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 23/03/2019 09:31

And I don't believe the Daily Mail is remotely shocked.

IceRebel · 23/03/2019 09:32

It's a single message in 3 years of frustration. Whilst I don't condone violence, I think some media outlets are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Also her comments, however unsavory, have no bearing on the petition.

Hoxton · 23/03/2019 09:32

I abhor violence of any kind, and whether you're for Remain, Leave or pink spotty unicorns surely her comments were disgraceful.
That threats of violence can be written off as hyperbole? Words fail me.

Dohangoversgetworseasyougetold · 23/03/2019 09:35

I absolutely don't approve of or endorse that kind of talk. Doesn't matter if it was meant seriously or not - people need to be more careful on social media.

However, that doesn't in any way affect or invalidate the concerns that the Revoke petition has revealed. Heck, we've been told enough times that the actual, brutal murder of Jo Cox had nothing to do with the case for Leave.

Also, as I've said before, it's funny how threats of violence from the far right if we cancel Brexit are cited as a reason to go through with Brexit, but threats from the other side are also cited as reasons to go through with Brexit...

BlackeyedGruesome · 23/03/2019 09:40

It does not look like she is saying she will get an actual gun, but without seeing the whole thing in context it is difficult to tell. Whatever the intent, it is not acceptable to use language that can be interpreted as a threat of violence. One has to be very careful.
It is a lot less as than some of the things that other MP s have said about TM.
