Westminstenders: Plan B is Plan A again.

The voting starts around 7pm and is expected to finish up between 8pm and 8.20pm.

May is expected to lose. The question is by how much.

We are then expecting an immediate motion of no confidence in the government by Labour to be put forward.

May is expected to make a speech to calm the markets and then go to Brussels for an utterly pointless visit.

The Labour No Confidence is expected tomorrow afternoon after PMQs. Its expected to fail.

We move no closer to a resolution and ever closer to no deal.

Half the Cabinet want to go into cross party talks. Half the Cabinet don't.

May is apparently insistent that Plan B is Plan A. Which is what you would expect her to tell the house to comply with Grieve IV. Which again is bollocks.

But Bercow could yet refuse to indulge it.

If Plan B is Plan A again, then what's Plan C?

Crisis with a Capital C.

The stalemate grows.

"No deal is better than this bad deal". Reciting that mantra as May did was so very foolish and irresponsible.

Not just that - she's been forced to admit to the cabinet that it's untrue. No deal pretty much sets the clock ticking on all sorts of tensions on the "U" bit of the UK. Ultimately Irish reunification and an unstoppable Scottish independence. By which time, Wales might have got the message that lifes worse in the Union.

To lose one member of the UK could be an accident ... to lose two .....

2016 not 2006 ! Although it feels that long

DGRossetti · 15/01/2019 18:30

Well that was quick Grin.

DW decided to have some "beautifying" done, so I'm killing time here until I have to cook dinner. For some reason we need to open a new bottle of Wine Grin

The day of the referendum result, DW just said "it will never happen". Wish she'd put s few quid on now ....

Thunderbird 1: a hypersonic rocket plane used for fast response and accident zone reconnaissance. Piloted by primary rescue co-ordinator Scott Tracy.
Thunderbird 2: a supersonic carrier aircraft that transports rescue vehicles and equipment to accident zones in detachable capsules known as "pods". Piloted by Virgil.
Thunderbird 3: a single-stage-to-orbit spacecraft. Piloted alternately by Alan and John, with Scott as co-pilot.
Thunderbird 4: a utility submersible. Piloted by Gordon and normally launched from Thunderbird 2.

TokyoSushi · 15/01/2019 18:34

I think we all need to hold hands tonight!

millyonth · 15/01/2019 18:36

It was terrifying how many no dealers there are in the public at large. One relatively articulate man interviewed regurgitated the " No deal is better than this bad deal" I'm with him. We want no deal because we think it's the first step on the path to a Canada style deal. We just want to be a self-governing country like Canada. That's all. And I know Canada spent years getting a deal. I do understand how things work.

RedToothBrush · 15/01/2019 18:37

I have baked beans on toast for dinner. When I can be arsed to get up and make it. With beer. More beer.

I need to get used to the Brexit lifestyle.

BTW did you know that today is National Pot Hole Day? Well now you do.

Labrokes current forecast for the number of MPs backing May's deal is 218.

Arj Singh @singharj
Corbyn says it’s not enough to vote against May’s deal and no deal, “we must be FOR something”.

“Ahhhh” says the Tories, “we’re all ears” shouts one #Brexit

Don't want to intrude on a Remain thread. Just wanted to explain a different POV.

Hazardswan · 15/01/2019 18:39

Yes to hand holding!

If it gets real bad someone needs to stroke my hair and talk in soothing tones to me.

Perhaps TM is the same and that's why Mr May is in building...

TokyoSushi · 15/01/2019 18:39

Laura K saying that the whips have switched focus and they're trying to get Brexiteers to abstain rather than vote against, let's see...

SusanWalker · 15/01/2019 18:39

The first step to a Canada style deal is to sign the WA. The EU will not do a Canada deal without insurances on the Irish border. Even if we no deal and go to them for a Canada deal the first thing they will bring up is the border.

Holidayshopping · 15/01/2019 18:40

If any MPs do abstain from the vote-will that be searchable/public knowledge and their constituents able to see that?

Greensleeves · 15/01/2019 18:40

Don't know which is worse. Watching Corbyn tying his shoelaces in front of an open goal - again - or sitting through another rendition of the Maybot programme. Just get on with the fucking vote already.

Sostenueto · 15/01/2019 18:41

Made it! Thanks Red.Flowers

Canada was royally screwed over by the USA cos its bigger and more powerful
be careful what you wish for

MissMalice · 15/01/2019 18:41

Yes they will @HolidayShopping

RedToothBrush · 15/01/2019 18:42

We can get to Canada via the WA.

Just with food and medicine along the way.

OP posts:
Belindabelle · 15/01/2019 18:42

Surely they can’t abstain in such an important vote.
