After disaster after Salzberg and a very predictable humilation over the Chequers Deal which the ERG reject, moderate Brexiteers reject, Remainers reject and the EU reject....

May does a press conference...

...which is delayed by a power shortage inside No. 10.

And....

I believe if I go out in the rain I will get wet. It says nothing

Ah, but "I believe if I go out in the rain I won't get wet" tells us everything

lonelyplanetmum · 26/09/2018 17:43

Well done Mrsr8!

1tisILeClerc · 26/09/2018 17:45

What, that I have a coat or umbrella?

It depends on the timespan.
A huge chocolate gateau with masses of cream for tea will be self limiting as a 'one off' event. Two a day for a few weeks would be pretty bad.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 26/09/2018 18:43

MrsR8! 👏 👏 👏

Have some more 🍰 🍰 🍰

pumkinspicetime · 26/09/2018 18:47

I think there are very few cake related fatalities! Have another slice.

MyBrexitGoesOnHoliday · 26/09/2018 18:53

DG
among the rafts of mainstream media coverage, I have not seen this issue of May’s bad faith given the prominence it deserves. Whatever your stance on Brexit, conducting negotiations in this manner – the cliche of perfidious is in fact the best description – is a ludicrously ineffective way to behave

THAT I think a really good point. No one, absolutely no one is actually talking about the fact TM and the U.K. has already agreed to keep in line with the EU. And that SHE is going back into her word.

Where is our press that will fight for clarity and impartiality??

woman11017 · 26/09/2018 20:14

Flowers well done mrs8 Smile
mother London transport update this PM: a 40 minute journey took 3 hours!
Euston was completely closed ( terrible for those trying to get to Liverpool and Glasgow) and still was as of this evening, and I arrived back to a different town from my car, Again!

BigChocFrenzy · 26/09/2018 20:24

3 cheers for Mrsr8 👏🏼Thanks
You are a Star

Mark Di Stefano @ markdistef
In email to staff, The Guardian has announced it'll host the NUJ's Black History Month event with main speaker, The Canary's editor Kerry-Anne Mendoza.

Sarah Ditum @ sarahditum
Mendoza, who pays her own writers pennies per click; who led a harassment campaign against actual journalist Laura Kuenssberg; who's built a destination site for fake news, giving unqualified support to a politician who's declared himself the enemy of journalism. GOOD ONE

The Guardian. Committed to supporting proper journalism against fake news.

Except when it suits their political agenda.

But we knew that already. Just interesting to see it confirmed.

Bloody hell, woman What a dreadully tiring evening
I hope you are now safely home, with feet up, enjoying a hot Brew, while someone brings you supper

London rail services - and those in many other regions - are not fit for purpose
The joys of monopoly privatisation and taxpayer bungs to the super-wealthy
Pity the poor sods who have to commute for hours daily

10degreestostarboard · 26/09/2018 20:34

Bigchoc

Not to worry - a general election with a corbyn government would see those taxpayer bungs directed at the unions instead. Trebles, as they say, all round!

I'm still staggered by this, which I know we mentioned earlier

Scottish MNers - pretty, mother, anyone else ?

Was this an absolute one-off brain-fart / too much booze, or are Labour going after the Orange vote ?
After all, they seem to have decided there are votes in anti-semitism, or at least that noone cares

Is it first the Jews, then the Catholics, then .. ?

Senior Labour official plunged into sectarian row over 'anti-Catholic' jibe

https://www.politicshome.com/news/uk/political-parties/labour-party/news/98463/watch-senior-labour-official-plunged-sectarian-row

Andy Kerr, who is chair of Labour's ruling National Executive Committee ....
In his role as chair of the debate, Mr Kerr selected one woman with her hand up.

He then said: “Did you cross yourself, there? In that case, I might not.” Shock
....
One Labour MP.... “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. A casual gratuitous anti-Catholic insult from the chair of Labour Party conference."

Another MP said:
“To have any chance of winning again in Scotland we need to persuade tens of thousands of Catholic voters we’ve lost to the SNP to come back to Labour. Confused

Bruce Baschuk @ bbaschuk
Following @realDonaldTrump's meeting with Shinzo Abe in NY the two leaders pledged to enter into negotiations on a US-Japan trade agreement on goods and work closely "to promote discussions" on other trade issues, including @wto reform.

and note the "we will workly closely together through US-Japan as well as US-Japan-EU cooperation" there

Funny Trump didn't write US-Japan-UK cooperation Hmm

Gosh, can it be that Trump (Art of the Deal) thinks we aren't so important to cooperate with as the EU ?
That we're not as Special Shock

RedToothBrush · 26/09/2018 20:46

We are a fringe island of no importance off the EU coast.

Get over it.

To be fair BigChocFrenzy - and I feel the need to wash my mouth out with soap as I say this - I think it wasn't a case of specifically going after the Orange vote, but just a casual example of sectarian thinking. But the fact he had no awareness of the inappropriateness, that it is unconscious is almost worse Sad

I was genuinely brought up not to be aware of anything like this and it was only because I married a lapsed Catholic that I've been taught some of the subtle prejudices that Catholics in Glasgow faced. I remember talking about it with a counsellor I was seeing (in the positive context that my parents had deliberately brought me up to be blind to it) and she said that one of the reasons that there used to be quite a few Jewish-Catholic legal practices in Glasgow was because no one else would employ them Shock

So there's both the Labour's blind spots in a nutshell Hmm

The really Confused thing is that the Labour administration that ran Glasgow City Council until last year was supposedly known for discriminating in favour of Catholics Confused
