Labour leadership could agree to a 2nd ref but then phrase it deal or no deal without a remain option. It's not a guarantee that we could vote to remain next time. Unless the membership insist on that being written into policy.

Really interesting Yougov poll questions yesterday. Asking how much the government is trusted, what nationality (Scottish/British/other) do I self-identify as, what major concerns have appeared in my life over the last two years (!!), etc. Usually they seem to want to know what radio stations I listen to so this was a major change of focus.

Very interesting stuff in the Observer about the YouGov poll of Labour members support for a people's vote. Especially the fact that the highest support at 90% is in the 60+ age group.

Can anyone suggest an historical parallel to the position the government is in at the moment ?

I really hope that will come out of conference borntobequiet. I don't see how the leadership can duck out of that overwhelming support for a people's vote from members, but I suppose they might still try.
