Boris Johnson is clearing the decks for a leadership challenge.

I guess that means that the Brexit we get all depends on what George, Michael and Boris decide over lunch and how good Operation Yellowhammer is.

In other news, I'm thinking of getting an aspidistra.

I think it has retro appeal.

And is notoriously hard to kill.

10degreestostarboard · 11/09/2018 18:50

So you say. I want a clean break with the eu and couldn’t care less whether Russia agrees or not

PineappleSunrise · 11/09/2018 18:52

Big leafy 70s houseplants are all the rage, cat.

thecatfromjapan · 11/09/2018 18:55

Yes. I need some hanging plants, too. Ones that drape.

Does anyone know the name of a hanging orchid?

woman11017 · 11/09/2018 18:57

it worries me also that he is away from home without our support should it be needed
We could do a phone contact mum tree like they used to do in primary schools? So we could step in to help each others' kids etc?
Flowers everyone.

Love the garden pretty
I wish I'd inherited my PGFs green fingers.

This troll isn't even trying to be clever. It's not even attempting to spread plausibly sounding lies. What's the point in being a troll if it's obvious that's what you're doing? A lone voice isn't going to derail a thread like this.

They just make themselves look ridiculous (and heartless and stupid into the bargain).

I am genuinely baffled as to what they are hoping to achieve. I mean - they're not even pissing me off - they're achieving nothing!

10degreestostarboard · 11/09/2018 19:07

Mrsr8

The trouble is I have the moral high ground with ‘facts’

Like the fact we had a vote (with a high turnout) and those who voted agree with my facts, not yours

PineappleSunrise · 11/09/2018 19:08

I picked up a banana leaf plant earlier this year, and it's growing incredibly fast - literally throwing out a new leaf every week. I'll need a bigger pot soon.

woman11017 · 11/09/2018 19:09

Looking gorgeous prettybird My apples were lovely this year, and the hot weather did wonders for my little bouganvillea and olive tree. Looks a bit of a mess now, but I'm wondering too about raised vegetable beds. How deep does the soil have to be for things like spuds?

@10degreestostarboard - you are a fantastic parody of a Leave voter. Really enjoying it.

prettybird · 11/09/2018 19:12

I do miss howabout - she did at least put forward considered arguments and not silly soundbites that just make the troll him or her look even more stupid than most Leavers (who are not all stupid but this one is )

There are some people I do hope get what they deserve when the shit hits the fan Hmm

Anyway, let's not give him or her the satisfaction of de-railing the thread anymore than he or she already has.

Tablet anyone? Wink

PineappleSunrise · 11/09/2018 19:15

Oooh, is it made with your own fair hand, prettybird?

thecatfromjapan · 11/09/2018 19:15

Oh, I don't know (re. Howabout)

I've never forgotten the suggestion we were going to happily knit ourselves to happiness at being a second-world economy/failed state.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 11/09/2018 19:16

Chipolata popped up on the last thread. I already miss him Grin

thecatfromjapan · 11/09/2018 19:16

Well, at least they have the sense to notice problems, Red.

frankiestein401 · 11/09/2018 19:18

suspect what might tip bojo is if the EU were to announce an FOM review - not unlikely IMHO given the rumblings across europe.

i could envisage that the EU would not want the prospect of a failed state on its western border so might be willing to let may/bojo spin it as a response to the uk exit vote and thus provide a face saving rationale for suspending brexit

prettybird · 11/09/2018 19:18

Woman I dug down/filled the raised veg beds to two spade depths. Think about a potato bag - they're not that deep. And the potatoes themselves are quite good at "digging" down into the earth but not into the solid clay layer .

If you put in a couple of raised beds now, you can spend the winter filling one/both of them with vegetable waste from the kitchen (in my case, it's easier than going up to the compost heap at the back of the garden!). The potato bed this year will be the legumes bed next year, so that is the one I will digging a trench in to fill with stuff that would otherwise have gone on the compost heap (potato peeling, cucumbers that have gone mushy, carrot peelings, egg shells etc - as well as the cardboard egg boxes and some shredded paper).

woman11017 · 11/09/2018 19:21

You are inspiring me, prettybird. My garden is titchy, so I'd have to have clear out to get a veg area, but composting like that is great idea. Smile

bellinisurge · 11/09/2018 19:21

I did some spuds this year as a no dig experiment. I just covered them with dried grass cuttings and some precious autumn leaves. Worked a treat.

prettybird · 11/09/2018 19:25

It is indeed Pineapple Smile And even if I say so myself, I make pretty damn fine tablet Grin
