I honestly couldn't think of a better starter to the thread than simply just this tweet

Robert Peston @ peston
We’ve got an official opposition tearing itself apart over antisemitism, the founder of the EDL running rings around the judiciary and a government negotiating a Brexit plan that its own MPs and ministers tell me is dead. When will we pull ourselves together, as a nation?

But don't worry, your blue passport will get you an extra special long wait at passport control. And no deal could lead to continued freedom of movement anyway. Something for everyone in there.

LibDems are much closer to the Tories than they'd have you believe.

Why, it's almost as if they started off as the same party.

We have another food price thread on AIBU...

We have another food price thread on AIBU...

Wait till Brexit gets mentioned, then report it ? Maybe a few OPs will comment in thread ?

borntobequiet · 02/08/2018 14:00

"It wasn't just racists who voted leave. Cunts did too"

Wait till the second half Smile ....

DGRossetti · 02/08/2018 15:37

Again, tangential, but will JRM follow the leader ...

Pope Francis has changed the teachings of the Catholic faith to oppose the death penalty in all circumstances, the Vatican has said.

(contd)

I guess you really are through the looking-glass when the Catholic Church looks like a bastion of liberalism compared to the UK.

Hopefully, next stop: rights of all, not just men ?

www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tory-priti-patels-claims-remain-13021145.amp?__twitter_impression=true

The electoral commission has looked at allegations by PP that the mainstream remain campaign also cheated on the referendum and decided there is nothing to investigate, although they are looking at two small remain campaigns that I'd never heard of.

I saw on Twitter that several people referred PP as well as Nadine Dorries to the standards committee for asking people to donate to Darren Grimes crowdfund to pay his fine, but apparently they're not bothered about it.

SusanWalker · 02/08/2018 15:47

There is a lot of biblical teachings that pass JRM by IMO. Like it being easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven.

I'm starting to think that when an MP is sworn in they should have to swear 'first do no harm' like doctors. Not that that would stop them.

Anyone think it is curious that this thread has not been visited by the strident 'pro-leave' posters?

Thanks to all for links to sources etc.

DGRossetti · 02/08/2018 16:49

Anyone think it is curious that this thread has not been visited by the strident 'pro-leave' posters?

Not really. Few Leavers can survive contact with facts.

SusanWalker · 02/08/2018 16:56

Facts are leaver kryptonite.

JWIM · 02/08/2018 17:01

Indeed.

What's behind the idea of 'blind brexit'? Anyone has any facts? I can't find direct quotes from Barnier. It truly sounds dreadful.

colouringinagain · 02/08/2018 17:24

Thanks Red. This thread is keeping me from loosing all hope!

A rather pissed off good bye letter from a German leaving the UK. This is remarkably emotional for a German bloke:

www.theguardian.com/global/2018/aug/02/auf-wedersehen-britain-brexit-forcing-my-german-family-leave-home

It's similar to what I've heard from other EU cits recently.

The Lib Dems Are Hoping To Reclaim The Centre Ground Of British Politics By Letting Non-Members Vote On Their Leader

There is never a good time for amateurishness in politics but this particular point in time in particular calls for something far better than the nonsense the LibDems are proposing.

The whole point of a political party is to inspire confidence in it.
