Not the Brexit Arms

Since BrexitArmsLandlady says she isn't starting anymore threads here's a place to discuss Brexit developments for those that still want to.

It never ceases to amaze me what a shambles this is.

The cabinet still can't even agree what we want, let alone what we're going to get.

No, I don't think they will claim 'the will of the people'. Farage didn't after the last Referendum and right now, no one is concerned much about the will of the people in N Ireland, Scotland and Gibraltar. Or only concerned so far as it gives them an almighty big headache.

bearbehind · 16/05/2018 09:22

TM is apparently gong to publish a White Paper on Brexit next month

It's pretty pathetic that it's 2 years after the referendum and 13 month after A50 was triggered but it seems that's the kind of incompetence we now have to accept as normal.

They'll be burning the candle at both ends to come up with these 'precise explanations'

Should make interesting reading or good bog roll!

frumpety dinner is when you have guests Smile

Buteo · 16/05/2018 09:48

bear the promised White Paper will just be another fairy story full of rainbows and unicorns and pixie dust, and will bear no relation of what is actually feasible.

bearbehind · 16/05/2018 09:57

Oh, I know that buteo, on account of the fact they don't actually have any answers! 😂

Im just dying to see how a rehash of all the rhetoric will go down- the clock is ticking and surely the more astute Leavers have to see they're being fed the same old lines with no evidence things are progressing.

The swivel eyed bunch won't give a toss what is or isn't said, such is their determination to leave at any cost.

Well any cost until it costs them anything!

What is the point of this thread?

It reads more like bearbehind’s blog of insults.

At least the Brexit Arms ( in it’s hey day ) was a bit lively & interesting.

bearbehind · 16/05/2018 10:47

surfer, it's no different to the BA threads, your nostalgia is decieving you.

In fact, that's quite apt as Leavers are very prone to talking about 'the good old days' and remembering them in a way that isn't actually reflective of the situation.

There's no point in asking for your comments on anything Brexit related because you're in the 'leave at all costs' brigade, with the added bonus of being wealthy enough not to notice any additional costs.

I'm looking forward to hearing the views of more moderate Leavers when this white paper is published.

Unless there's a miracle in the next few weeks, I simply can't see what it's going to say other than more idealistic nonsense, most of which has already been rejected by the EU.

Curious what the Brexiteer take on this is:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/05/15/trump-threatens-use-us-trade-talks-force-nhs-pay-drugs/

Donald Trump is ready to use trade talks to force the National Health Service to pay more for its drugs as part of his scheme to "put American patients first”.

Mr Trump has claimed that the high costs faced by US patients are a direct result of other countries’ health services “freeloading” at America’s expense.

(contd)

My dp came gone from an event last night where there had been loads of people from Europe. He was drunk, because the other delegates kept patting him kindly on the shoulder, tilting their heads at him and buying him drinks. He was wandering all evening saying "It was desperate. They were treating me like the mad auntie at a family party who isnnt really responsible for her actions. Just desperate"

surferjet · 16/05/2018 12:28

& you believed him? 😂

Maybe he just got drunk because he wanted to.

bearbehind · 16/05/2018 13:28

Blimey surfer, you'll have to lie down in a darkened room because I actually agree with you 😂

My thoughts when I read that was it was a fantastic and novel excuse to get pissed on a school night! 😂

Buteo thank you , that has cleared up mealtime name etiquette for me. Where do you stand on Brunch ?

BertrandRussell · 16/05/2018 14:23
Grin

He doesn’t need an excuse to get pissed on a school night!

Buteo · 16/05/2018 14:28

Ah, brunch - perfect for country house parties frumpety, where an early start to shoot some beaters (or something) is required, otherwise it's breakfast and then luncheon.

mummmy2017 · 16/05/2018 16:25

I've done the country house Saturday to Monday ...thing....
Breakfast was early out to do pursuits.... 12 was lunch then at 4 cakes and sandwiches laid on... a rest the dinner at 8 ish... more food for a late supper...

Buteo · 16/05/2018 17:14

Did you do the hunting / shooting / fishing malarkey mummmy?

We used to stay with friends with a big house in the country, but shooting consisted of taking pot shots at the rabbits on the front lawn from the kitchen window.

frumpety · 16/05/2018 19:18

Devilled kidneys and kedgeree for breakfast Mummy ?

Can gut, pluck and remove teeth destroying shot from a pheasant in a reasonable timeframe if required, always slow down slightly when passing fresh roadkill or speed up for the miyxy rabbits Blush

mummmy2017 · 16/05/2018 19:21

About 50 of us . We had everything out to choose from.
Some went shooting I went out riding and had a swim afterwards...
Ball one evening.... oh the life per children....

CardinalSin · 16/05/2018 19:26

Donald Trump is ready to use trade talks to force the National Health Service to pay more for its drugs as part of his scheme to "put American patients first”.

New slogan for Leave.EU's bus - Let's take £350 million a week from the NHS and give it to the Americans instead.

frumpety · 16/05/2018 19:38

Don't have anywhere to hang the roadkill so I drive on past thinking 'shame'.

Cardinal the NHS was never going to be a winner in the debacle that is Brexit , ever.

Am I allowed to say 'I told you so' yet? 😂😂😂😂

So all this faith Leavers have been putting in the government to sort this out for them has been completely unfounded.

As I a nd many others have said for ages, you have just been getting your expectations managed down all along so that we can end up staying in SM/CU

OP posts:
DGRossetti · 17/05/2018 09:37

So all this faith Leavers have been putting in the government to sort this out for them has been completely unfounded.

Be interesting to see where they start to try and lay the blame then: the government that failed them, or the Remainers that warned them. I suspect the distinct will be exactly along Leaver/Brexiteer lines.

frumpety · 17/05/2018 09:44

Or the EU for making it all so bloody difficult Hmm
