Since BrexitArmsLandlady says she isn't starting anymore threads here's a place to discuss Brexit developments for those that still want to.

It never ceases to amaze me what a shambles this is.

The cabinet still can't even agree what we want, let alone what we're going to get.

Every newspaper knows how to “play” their readers. If you read the daily express you’d think brexit was going swimmingly.

time4chocolate · 10/05/2018 11:00

That’s why I don’t tend to post links. I could scan across all media and post 20 articles from each perspective but very few would contain actual facts. Pointless.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 10/05/2018 11:04

I think you’re confusing actual news articles (fact) eg company makes redundancies with opinion pieces and the “spinning” of factual stories eg company makes redundancies but it has nothing to do with a declining economy

time4chocolate · 10/05/2018 11:08

Ghost
I love ‘fact’ hate ‘spin’.
Are you referring to the airbus article or generally?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 10/05/2018 11:15

Generally.

I like the distinction between leavers and brexiteers up thread. There is a massive difference between people who came to a considered decision to vote to leave and acknowledge the enormity of the task, and people who voted leave and have spent the time since doing little more than saying "fuck you remoaners you lost and that's all that matters who cares how it goes".

DGRossetti · 10/05/2018 15:57

I like the distinction between leavers and brexiteers up thread.

It's only fair to point out that there's a mirror version with people who voted Remain. Most voted remain because they simply felt it was best for them and the UK. But there are some Remainiacs who would argue we have to remain at all costs - and to hell with any downsides.

The problem - however you try and spin it - is that remain was simply the status quo. It's what would have happened in the absence of a referendum. So having upset the apple-cart, it's incumbent on the Leavers to point and lead the way. Which everyone; leave, remain, and persons of undecided affiliation are still waiting for. Coz I don't see a way yet.

mostdays · 10/05/2018 16:04

I don't disagree with any of that Rossetti.

Theworldisfullofgs · 11/05/2018 12:01

The Telegraph first broke the galileo story but as that's behind a paywall there is not much point in posting it.

DGRossetti · 11/05/2018 15:57

The Telegraph first broke the galileo story

I think www.theregister.co.uk/ was earlier - and free.

Theworldisfullofgs · 11/05/2018 18:41

Thanks.

mummmy2017 · 15/05/2018 16:24

Are we home yet?

frumpety · 15/05/2018 19:17

I can't answer for you Mummy , are the surroundings familiar ? has someone asked you where something is yet ? Have you had a conversation whilst on the toilet ? Has anyone asked you what's for tea? If you answered yes to one or more of the above , then probably , yes Grin

frumpety · 15/05/2018 19:18

okdok · 15/05/2018 23:03

Didn't expect you to have children Mummy. Brexit will have such a massively adverse effect on their generation.

frumpety · 16/05/2018 06:29

Thinking on , possibly tea should have been vegan and not called tea to really fit in with Metropolitan liberal elite Wink

Good luck to your offspring in their exams Mummy

Buteo · 16/05/2018 07:23

Tea is what you have in the afternoon at the Savoy frumpety. Supper is what we metropolitan liberal elite indulge in of an evening Wink

frumpety · 16/05/2018 07:32

Supper Buteo , well I never , surely that is what you have when tea hasn't filled you up or you are a bit greedy like me ? Where does that leave Dinner ?

frumpety · 16/05/2018 07:37

Will I be provided with supper in the tower do you think? Grin

frumpety · 16/05/2018 07:49

I shall err on the side of caution and take me own snap , a tin of anchovies , olives and a jar of artichokes and sundried tomatoes , that way I should be able to rustle up a decent panzanella with any crusts of old bread they throw in through the bars Grin

KennDodd · 16/05/2018 08:00

If there is another ref and Brexit is overturned (I don't think it will be) do you think certain politicians will still claim we are thwarting the 'Will of the people'?

frumpety · 16/05/2018 08:08

I should imagine they will spout something along the lines of 'The will of the people' has changed in light of new ( or not so ) information and that democracy must be upheld , again !
