Since BrexitArmsLandlady says she isn't starting anymore threads here's a place to discuss Brexit developments for those that still want to.

It never ceases to amaze me what a shambles this is.

The cabinet still can't even agree what we want, let alone what we're going to get.

you said the majority of the electorate voted to leave, in fact they didn't, the majority of those that voted, voted to leave, there is a difference.

🙄🙄

This is what I actually said:

"The majority of those who could be arsed to vote, voted to leave"

topcat1980 · 16/07/2018 15:57

Someone else said the majority of the electorate then.

DaisyTwirl · 16/07/2018 16:01

These threads are pointless - just rehashing the same boring arguments over & over.
This is why almost all the leavers abandoned them.

54321go · 16/07/2018 16:01

Despite arguing about the numbers, where are the Leaver's plans for 'happy ever after'? I mean realistic achievable ones that don't feature unicorns or magic dust.

topcat1980 · 16/07/2018 16:07

No leavers abandoned them because they could never off anything other than "you lost, get over it".

And because its such an enormous clusterfuck, and its evident that the vast majority of people will get nothing that they wanted, and things are going to get worse.

Its kinda hard to defend the position when its that bad,.

DGRossetti If you and 9 friends want to go for a meal, 4 one place, 3 another, 3 not bothered and 1 didn’t vote, you wouldn’t go anywhere as it’s below 50% or would you go where the majority who voted wanted to go

Rosstac · 16/07/2018 16:12

Yaralie, why should non U.K. citizens get a vote in a U.K. They could have applied for citizenship by now if they have been here that long

topcat1980 · 16/07/2018 16:13

Because they didn't need to apply for citizenship prior to this.

Oh and Irish citizens got a vote in it if they were resident.

I'll answer that, when you answer me why we are leaving the Single Market, when before the referendum, the Leave campaign said we weren't ? Just a link to the official literature will do, no need to type it all out.

In the meantime your example didn't mention that the 3 people are vegetarians who voted against going to a new Hindu restaurant that other people suggested.

DGRossetti Then the 3 friends need to decide to go elsewhere or hope their is a vegetarian option,

Rosstac · 16/07/2018 16:27

Motheroffourdragons Why be happy enough to make your life in that country, but not want to become a full citizen, The goal post might change and they could have changed anytime in the future

DGRossetti · 16/07/2018 16:30

DGRossetti Then the 3 friends need to decide to go elsewhere or hope their is a vegetarian option,

Alternatively, they could have checked their ignorance and realised that all Hindu cuisine is predominantly (and in some cases exclusively) vegetarian, before making fools of themselves ?

DGRossetti The leave party and the government DC said that we would be leaving the SM and the CU before the referendum as you have to agree to the EU red lines

topcat1980 · 16/07/2018 16:33

"Why be happy enough to make your life in that country, but not want to become a full citizen, The goal post might change and they could have changed anytime in the future"

You better ask the 5 million Brits living abroad that.

However, it was never on the cards that the goal posts might change this dramatically.

But lets be fair all the EU immigrants are staying, FOM will continue under another name, and non EU immigration will still be higher.

But they should have been allowed to vote on this issue, as should Brits living abroad.

Rosstac · 16/07/2018 16:34

Motheroffourdragons What is so wrong with Belgium that you don’t want to retire there ?

topcat1980 · 16/07/2018 16:35

"The leave party and the government DC said that we would be leaving the SM and the CU before the referendum as you have to agree to the EU red lines"

But DC also said he would stay on, he didn't, he also said he would declare article 50, he didn't.

The leave party said a trade deal was easy, it isn't, they said there was £350m for the NHS, there isn't.

Why is it that when politicians lie and its convinient for you to say that they lied and everyone knows that the lie, its fine.

But other things are set in stone?

Oh that's right, its because its easier to support your weak argument that way.

topcat1980 Where do you get that figure of 5 million Brits living and working in the EU,
Yes they will be and should be allowed to stay in the U.K. it’s about control going forward, no I would not expect to vote on French or Spanish country issues unless a citizen
