What if we do find managing our own money, and not having to pay millions to the EU works?
But the money that is paid to the EU (£9.4 billion net in 2016)
in the scale of the UK budget is trivial
www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/uk_budget
Schools cost £84.8 bn
State pensions to Brits cost £154.7 bn
The budget deficit in 2017 was £40.4 bn

Not paying a little bit across to the EU will not stop the deficit.
It will not stop austerity.
It will not free up money for poor children.
It will not make housing cheaper.

So what DO you want from Brexit ?

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 16:37

Cupoftea i know you don't hate me. If you knew me in real life you would see I am the one friend's come to for advice. It's just I feel trapped by the EU. It really isn't What it was supposed to be and I think junkier has so much to answer for. The world will change. Italy is proof. And you heard what Macron said about France if anyone gave them the chance. Something is very wrong if so many people feel this way.

DGRossetti · 08/03/2018 16:40

Back to the weed/infection - what has the EU done that you consider so bad?

You won't get a coherent, answer that can be measured against anything real. If it existed, someone would have posted it by now.

There have been a few well reasoned and presented cases for the UK leaving the EU. Only not here.

I really want to get behind Brexit.

Just feel the love ...

TalkinPeace · 08/03/2018 16:41

The world will change. Italy is proof
Italy is proof of what exactly ?

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 16:47

Thecatfromjapan it's not a cut in the GDP. It's that we will grow at a lesser level the the EU. So not the same thing at all.
None one knows the true impacts of everything. You can say 100% that what you think will happen. As we were told it would happen instantly after the vote to Leave. There will be trade. You really think that the EU and the world at large want to stop planes from the UK. Sorry but reality won't happen like that. Your being influenced by the media just as much as I am.

Valanice1989 · 08/03/2018 16:47

If people voted for Brexit out of desperation for change, then why did they re-elect David Cameron just a year before the election?

How can anyone honestly believe that things can't get any worse? We have an NHS right now, for example. If the NHS is dismantled as a result of Brexit, things will get much worse for an awful lot of people.

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 16:48

Italy is proof the EU is not of one mind.

thecatfromjapan · 08/03/2018 16:48

Hmm.

That whole 'Italy is proof' has the apocryphal ring of weird, on-line, anti-EU missives, written by people trying to scrape a living in Moscow and their strange friends. It's a bit 'Book of Revelations', isn't it?

Many years ago, one of my friends published his first academic article, which began with the memorable phrase: "As I write, in the shadow of the imminent collapse of the capitalist system ..."

I can't help but think that all those messages about the "immanent collapse of the EU" have been similarly proved substantially incorrect by recent events. What is emerging, again and again, is that - whilst Russia, for example, might long for the imminent collapse of the EU - most EU countries are looking at the example of the UK and thinking: "Yes. This is, actually, a project worth protecting."

DGRossetti · 08/03/2018 16:50

whilst Russia, for example, might long for the imminent collapse of the EU

Like Brexiteers, Russia longs for the "old days" (which never existed).

They also have a (slightly more supportable) fear of a single bloc on their doorstep. That pesky history again.

TalkinPeace · 08/03/2018 16:51

mummmy
Italy is proof the EU is not of one mind.
ABSOLUTELY
The EU is a grouping of 28 sovereign states that

  • elect their own politicians
  • set their own budgets
  • decide their own tax codes
  • decide their own levels of house building
  • decide their own levels of social security and poverty prevention

So why exactly do you want the UK to not be like that ?

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 16:54

The EU won't collapse but it does need to change. One size just doesn't fit all. There was report out today about how life gets better for the rich but not as fast for the poor. And still the EU wants more money..

DGRossetti · 08/03/2018 16:55

There was report out today about how life gets better for the rich but not as fast for the poor.

Cite, please ?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 08/03/2018 16:55

I'm upset with David Cameron & Theresa May.

Theresa May's job re Brexit would have been much less difficult if Labour hadn't been colluding with the Eu to disrupt & subvert the official negotiations.

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 16:56

Tax codes. Have you not read about how the EU are trying to raise funds by being able to tax everyone in the EU.

TalkinPeace · 08/03/2018 16:56

The EU won't collapse but it does need to change.
And once the UK is not a member its views will be ignored
One size just doesn't fit all.
Nobody ever said it did .... the two speed solution is already underway
There was report out today about how life gets better for the rich but not as fast for the poor.
UN BRITAIN, under AUSTERITY
And still the EU wants more money..
Link please

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 16:57

Link. Just type EU budget... in Google.

TalkinPeace · 08/03/2018 16:58

Tax codes. Have you not read about how the EU are trying to raise funds by being able to tax everyone in the EU.
Nope
Have not heard it and do not believe it.
The EU would like to move towards a degree of tax harmonisation as part of repealing the Posted Worker directive - not the same thing at all

DGRossetti · 08/03/2018 17:00

Theresa May's job re Brexit would have been much less difficult if Labour hadn't been colluding with the Eu to disrupt & subvert the official negotiations.

I know, wicked Labour. Look how they forced Theresa May to trigger article 50 (despite almost all advice to the contrary).

Then they forced her to call an election which lost her the majority which would have made Brexit 100 times easier.

Oh, hang on .... Hmm

TalkinPeace · 08/03/2018 17:00

mummmy
I did
europa.eu/european-union/topics/budget_en
cannot see your assertion

DGRossetti · 08/03/2018 17:00

Link. Just type EU budget... in Google.

New game, new rules Smile.

Asserter cites.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 08/03/2018 17:06

Oh, hang on ....* Hmm

And the above ramblings have precisely what to do with labour actively colluding with the Eu in a concerted effort to undermine the official brexit negotiations?

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 17:07

European wide tax system... it exists. As a plan in EU

gussyfinknottle · 08/03/2018 17:09

I also heard that Turkey is joining the EU next week and I heard that unicorns poo rainbows.
Ever get the feeling you've been had?
Really sorry that your hope and enthusiasm for a better world has been exploited, Mummy.
Smashing things up and hoping that "better" will appear is what children do.

mummmy2017 · 08/03/2018 17:11

So sorry you must have missed the articles about the EU wanting all the members to raise what they pay...
Shame on me . They are actually going to cut the budget to members.. ha ha ha
