I understand the points you're making re the impact on the NI political balance (not being under threat of being sold out - for either side), but this is more to do with NI as a whole being under the jurisdiction of the EU with no representation - it's in contravention of the ECHR.

(That's how I've understood it anyway, I may be reading it wrong).

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 06/03/2018 17:45

May have used sloppy language in previous post - I'm not in any way trying to minimise or diminish the NI people's concerns.

Sorry if it came across like that.

DGRossetti · 06/03/2018 17:46

Sorry, but there is something wrong in the world when a Leaver has to resort to pointing to the ECHR to make a point ...

Unless your account has been hacked ?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 06/03/2018 17:47

I did say I'm not passing comment or taking 'sides' one way or another - just thought it was interesting.

No need to start with the cheap shots tbh.

TalkinPeace · 06/03/2018 17:47

Bearbehind
For once, stop being snippy at people and try to be supportive, constructive, positive.

Nothing pisses people off more than being looked down on without an explanation of how they can try to climb up.

bearbehind · 06/03/2018 17:50

talk I'm not looking down on anyone, quite the opposite; I'm asking user to stop preaching to people just because he's only just learned to analyse things

bearbehind · 06/03/2018 17:51

So back to NI, any solutions yet?

Haven't we got to have a workable plan by the end of this month?

TalkinPeace · 06/03/2018 17:52

He won't.
So give over on stressing about it.
He's got a new toy box of analytical skills and the novelty will not wear off for a while.

THe effort now needs to go into encouraging other posters to walk away from google it towards here is the link I found

bearbehind · 06/03/2018 17:54

FFS, has this become a self help group now? Hmm

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 06/03/2018 17:57

It's all a bit patronising really Bear, which leads me straight back towards 'google it'.

Made an effort to start over & provide a link to something new - shitty comments begin immediately.

This is why people don't bother to engage.

(Post not directed at you btw bear, just agreeing with your 'self-help' post)

LondonMum8 · 06/03/2018 17:59

"provide a link to something new - shitty comments begin immediately."

Don't post links to shitty sources then.

bearbehind · 06/03/2018 18:00

I know what you mean faith. Without wishing to sound patronising, I was impressed with your post and link above Wink, it was just inviting discussion.

It wasn't really a shitty source london

It does beg the question of Leavers as to how this can be resolved, which I raised above.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 06/03/2018 18:02

Don't post links to shitty sources then.

😂😂

Shitty source?

KK then.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 06/03/2018 18:03

Yay!!
Thanks 🐻 😘😀

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 06/03/2018 18:07

Londonmum - genuinely interested to know why you think briefings for brexit are a 'shitty source', and worse than 'the heil'.

AgnesSkinner · 06/03/2018 18:29

That’s a whole new conundrum - citizens of Northern Ireland have the right to identify as Irish or British or both, and therefore have the right to retain EU citizenship - and then would need to be represented in the EU Parliament. Ireland will be getting 2 extra MEPs but these seats have not yet been allocated to constituencies. I wonder if there will be have to be some sort of fudge to include the north of Ireland in these constituencies?

DGRossetti · 06/03/2018 18:31

In which case the DUP veto kicks in ? To be fair, they have been 100% consistent that they will not support any moves which make NI different to the rest of the UK. Well, on their terms, leastways.

frumpety · 06/03/2018 18:37

That article in Brexitbriefings is actually quite interesting Faith , I think NI largely voted Remain did they not ? Could they be allowed MEP's after Brexit ? that's a genuine question by the way Smile

gussyfinknottle · 06/03/2018 18:38

I live in the UK. I have an Irish Mum and am entitled to an Irish, therefore EU, passport. Unless I live in an EU state, I have no entitlement to some sort of "floating " MEP. There would only be an MEP for NI if the EU had some sort of jurisdiction there. Which, since the bonkers Brexit vote, it won't.

gussyfinknottle · 06/03/2018 18:39

This weird "othering" of NI is not helpful.

frumpety · 06/03/2018 18:40

Ah sorry see that question had already been posed .

frumpety · 06/03/2018 18:42

Gussy if NI remains in the customs union , does that therefore mean they are under the jurisdiction of the EU in some part ?
