🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

This may be the last Brexit Arms thread that I will host.

It was intended to be a non-partisan and relatively light hearted thread for posters on both sides of the divide, but unfortunately this seems to have proved impossible so far.

It is not supposed to be a place for the disgruntled Remainer to use as an outlet to abuse and kick out at their perceived enemy.

I will give it one last go in the hope that things will change.

So.... onwards to Brexit....

Sainsbury's chief pouring iced water on hard Brexiters' heads:

www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-02/u-k-food-crisis-looms-without-brexit-deal-sainsbury-ceo-warns

Of course, all heavy bollocks, Brexiters wouldn't be affected - they can all afford food price hikes up to 100% without batting an eyelid, and just generally don't need to eat much while in the manic nationalist frenzy.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 08:10

What a surprise that you misread my post?

No, what a surprise you are calling us idiots.

In direct response to another poster calling Brexiters idiots.

What's good for the goose etc.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 08:27

I honestly don't think they care about Brexit one way or the other

Quite the opposite in fact.
I do care, very much.

I just don't want brexit to be set up to fail, which is what BINO will do.

Brexit is an opportunity for UK to be at the vanguard of the new wave of globalisation, staying in CU & SM makes this impossible as it constrains too much.

I want the UK to succeed (and do not want the EU to fail) - the same as the majority of the country.
The difference between the SM/CU people & clean break (with free trade deal) people is only in what process we believe is the best one to follow IMO - not what we want for an outcome (I'd like to think the outcome we all want is for UK to have a successful future).

The people I have no time for are the ones who are doing everything possible to stop brexit, and are actively trying to block it or subvert it.

At the end of the day, if the democratic & negotiated outcome is SM/CU membership I will be bitterly disappointed as I think this is the worst outcome, and would be an opportunity utterly wasted - but I would very grudgingly accept it for the immediate future, because that's democracy.

frumpety · 02/03/2018 08:33

Faith how will the UK benefit from the new wave of globalisation , or how will you benefit , at the end of the day most of us look at issues like Brexit from a personal point of view and how it might impact our daily lives.

LondonMum8 · 02/03/2018 08:34

"Brexit is an opportunity for UK to be at the vanguard of the new wave of globalisation,"

What new wave of globalisation? What does that mean in practice, how will it work, what effect might it have on Leave voters?

Kofa · 02/03/2018 08:43

Faith are you prepared to accept the CU/SM if it is the only way to avoid a hard border in Ireland?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 08:51

I don't think it is though Kofa.

With a free trade agreement between UK/EU & utilisation & integration of all the different elements of technology already available it is entirely possible to not have a hard border in NI.

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 08:54

Frumpety
Why do you think leavers don't care on way or the other on Brexit, many have been campaigning for years, some since 1975.
Surely they care the most over the success of Brexit. Many thought A) they never get a meaningful vote and
B) would probably lose it too

Faith I too want/need Brexit too work, and for both us and EU, we get our chance to forge new UK economy that works for everyone, not just London/SE. They get chance to continue on their path to a united Europe, without us constantly applying a brake.
Surely no one wants us to fail, god not even the most ardent remain campaigners could possibly want us to be as bad as they claim.
that would be cutting your nose off to spite your face
Hopefully by tea time we will all know better.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 08:55

We'll all benefit.
As will developing countries.
I don't look at it from a personal point of view - I'm looking at it from a future POV (for my children).

What new wave of globalisation? What does that mean in practice, how will it work, what effect might it have on Leave voters?

As I've said before, it's not my job to tutor you.
If you're genuinely interested then look it up.

twofingerstoEverything · 02/03/2018 08:59

Faith You are coming across as very unpleasant on this thread, telling people to 'calm down dear' and calling them unhinged. It's clear that you don't like being asked for links/arguments to back up your assertions. Fine, don't give them. But attacking people by insulting them is childish and nasty.

Mistigri · 02/03/2018 09:00

Why are brexiters like Faith so resistant to spelling out the details? Hmmm?

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 09:01

Mother,
I thick it is a bit rich to complain about Faith and posts about idiots,
She clearly replied to post about Putin's idiots.
Also didn't see much evidence of offensive then I was called thick, or other leavers have been called similar or worse.
treat people as you wish them to treat you comes to mind

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 09:06

In direct response to being called a twat amongst many other things.

I'm perfectly comfortable with my responses.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 09:06

Repeatedly called a twat in fact, across countless posts.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 09:08

Spelling out details?

I am not Theresa May, I am not part of the cabinet, I am not part of the Brexit negotiating team.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 02/03/2018 09:10

attacking people by insulting them is childish and nasty.

Yes it is.

Which is why your post would have been better directed at Bear, London et al.

LondonMum8 · 02/03/2018 09:13

"Faith, how..."

"We'll all benefit.

I don't look at it from a personal point of view - I'm looking at it from a future POV (for my children)."

Madness... :(

user1471450935 · 02/03/2018 09:18

New free trade deals could add prosperity to UK.
Ok it's directly from Liam Fox's speech ( so prepared to be shot down)
But before EU (yes I know) and South Korea FTA, we the UK exported under £2 million worth, now in 2017, we export over £93 million.
Canada's economy seems to have taken off since the Nafta and is desperate to do similar with pacific countries, on it's own.
Maybe if we can do FTA with Europe and then move to the rest of the world, we will see prosperity.
It will always be difficult to prove proof for new agreements.
The hard part of starting a new business, is get proof that your plans can work and people to believe in them.
Brexit will be delivered by both Uk and Europe's governments and commission. God knows why you think the likes of Faith and myself can give you all answers. even the EU doesn't seem to have them.

surferjet · 02/03/2018 09:19

Why are brexiters like Faith so resistant to spelling out the details?

Are we supposed to be spelling out the details? Do you really expect ordinary people to have the answers to everything & be able to unpick 40 years of complex negotiations - you lot are bonkers you really are. I’m convinced most of you are in some sort of secure unit.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 02/03/2018 09:27

You voted for something you don’t understand surfer? Well done.

LondonMum8 · 02/03/2018 09:27

"New free trade deals could add prosperity to UK.
Ok it's directly from Liam Fox's speech"

He didn't explain why he thinks the loss of EU business could be mitigated by those trade deals, did he?

How long will those trade deals take to negotiate? On what basis do we think they might be better than the existing EU deals?

These are very basic questions I would reasonably expect any sane adult Brexit supporter to be able to answer.

frumpety · 02/03/2018 09:27

User I didn't say Leavers , I specifically mentioned Faith who has come back and stated that they very much do care Smile

frumpety · 02/03/2018 09:33

I’m convinced most of you are in some sort of secure unit.

wish I was , I'm sure it would be warmer than here Grin

frumpety · 02/03/2018 09:38

Faith have you ever thought about moonlighting as a speech writer for the Conservatives , I am sure they would love your style ! You will need to come up with a different word to CLEAR as I think the vast majority of the UK roles their eyes whenever that word is used now Grin
