Welcome!
The Brexit Arms is STILL open for business!

Providing banal conversation, brexit brouhaha & the finest British banter since 2016....
(If you are in need of insightful Brexit scrutiny then Red's Threads are where it's at!)

Cardinal can you give a synopsis please

CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 16:43

"No tariffs on trade with the rest of the world, no non-tariff barriers with any country, border cost with EU at zero, not reflecting the consulting paper they’ve based results on properly, and achieving their positive results simply because they assume leaving the EU has no trade costs and only potential benefits.

The assumptions used for the Economists for Free Trade paper are absurd, writes Chris Giles in FT today.

Put rubbish in to a model, and rubbish will spew out."

LondonMum8 · 22/02/2018 16:44

Ha ha, couldn't make this up: the basket cases have come up with a "three baskets approach" to keeping the best bits of the cake.

The technical term is GIBO: Garbage-In-Brexit-Out.

DGRossetti · 22/02/2018 16:49

Ha ha, couldn't make this up: the basket cases have come up with a "three baskets approach" to keeping the best bits of the cake.

But we didn't really think you meant it when you said "no cherry picking" ...

Bit quiet here today ?

CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 16:53

Which is exactly what the EU have already said they will not accept!

TalkinPeace · 22/02/2018 17:00

The will reappear when it gets dark to remind us that 1 million is a big number.
And try to ignore the rest of what is actually happening.

DGRossetti · 22/02/2018 17:04

Ah, but they didn't really mean that. They were just saying that before they realised it's Britain ... you know ... rule Britann- ah, better keep that one to ourselves. How about it's Britain, you know 2 world wars and one wol- hmm, need to have another go.

It's Britain land of the free, home of the brave ... not that's not it ...

Bearbehind · 22/02/2018 17:52

It really is like some parallel universe now.

TM and her cronies decide, halfway through the A50 process, to discuss a plan that, even if they could agree internally, has already been dismissed as not possible by the EU.

What planet are they on?

The arrogance, or just complete lack of awareness, is astounding?

Theworldisfullofidiots · 22/02/2018 21:05

Thanks cardinal (sorry had to disappear to do kids stuff)
I was having a debate earlier about whether Trump or Brexit was worse. Trump is at least transparently bonkers

Bearbehind · 22/02/2018 21:11

^^ And reversible in 3 years

It does indeed mother

I'm sure it will because 'they have such busy lives' but surely even they must be starting to ask questions, if only to themselves, right now.

CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 21:35

Is it possible to ask questions when you head is buried up your own arse in the sand?

Trump will get hamstrung this fall in the mid terms .....
and the Democrats are slowly getting their backsides in gear for the next presidential election

Motheroffour
My dad gas given up his GOP membership - after 60 years - because of Trump. My dad knows people in Trump's family and has done business with him. Trump is a nasty piece of work but the Penn district 8 ruling weakens his chances of staying in control.

Brexit is for ever though.

Leaving the party has caused him real pain. Parts of my family have been GOP party members for a very, very long time. But they have no policies and allowed a moron to represent them.

Thinking about it, I'm not sure that TM even realises that she's lying. I think she just states what she wants the truth to be, and thinks that that makes it so. It's a weird kind of self delusion.

LondonMum8 · 23/02/2018 12:08

Nice article about Global Newcastle on the BBC today.

TalkinPeace · 23/02/2018 13:22

before you feel too reassured - Dad voted Libertarian instead Grin

cardinal
I suspect you are right. She would pass a polygraph, because she has convinced herself.
