mummmy
Corbyn is a muppet. I've never been a fan of his. He is an irrelevance where Brexit is concerned.

TM is the one bollocksing up the negotiations after all

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 22:16

India want 100,000 visas a year in exchange for free trade ....

Well as an independent country making our own decisions then it will be up to us to accept or reject that proposal.

If the voters don't approve they'll vote accordingly in the next election.
An option we didn't have wrt having to accept uncontrolled immigration from the ever expanding EU.

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2018 22:19

If the voters don't approve they'll vote accordingly in the next election.
Sorry, what ?
Once a trade deal is signed, its signed.
General elections do not unravel them.

Do you study the reality of politics at all or just live in the la la land of a narrow margin badly run vote

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 22:24

Once a trade deal is signed, its signed.
General elections do not unravel them.

So trade deals are never, ever, ever to be undone or changed from their initial format?

Gosh! Who knew!

So they are literally set in stone for eternity?

I'm sure you're exaggerating.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 22:27

Do you study the reality of politics at all or just live in the la la land of a narrow margin badly run vote

Is that similar to you & others like you just living in the la la land of imagining Brexit isn't happening?

No it's not, I would be pissed off.

But it's a leaked draft, not a finalised version so I am confident that the negative feedback that's been heard today will ensure that it's amended for the final version.

It is actually hysterical how determined Leavers are to ignore what’s staring them in the face.

These ‘leaks’ are just a way of letting you down gently.

We aren’t leaving anytime soon simply because we aren’t in position to do so.

All these people, who you were so convinced would miraculously resolve the issues you don’t even have the faintest idea about, are letting you down too.

Turns out they’re only human and can’t magically achieve the impossible.

It makes your victory a little more hollow doesn’t it?

LondonMum8 · 21/02/2018 22:52

I think remaining so eurocentric is a bad idea for the future, I have a more global outlook than the diehard europhiles.

You've got a global outlook? Awesome, but.. are we going to be able to fund the NHS with your global outlook? Will your global outlook help with regards to loss of European financial services business, i.e. the loss of majority of it? Will your global outlook replace the business done to our being one of the main gatewayss to Europe? Will global companies choose to incorporate here just because we say we have a global outlook, despite the lack of free access to the EU market?

mummmy2017 · 21/02/2018 23:28

It is actually hysterical how determined Remainer's are to ignore what’s staring them in the face.

These ‘leaks’ are just a way of letting you down gently.

We leaving soon simply because we aren’t in position stay to do so we would have to have a new referendum .

All these people, who you were so convinced would miraculously stop it don't have the faintest idea about how to do this , so are letting you down too.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 22/02/2018 00:01

Oh LondonMum, maybe one day you'll feel able to look beyond your small bubble & see there's a whole world out there - it's quite sad to see such parochial attitudes Sad

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 22/02/2018 00:02

You're so scared about 'outsiders' that you even went so far as to suggest that London becomes its own country Sad

You should try & broaden your horizons a bit more - try & push your comfort zone a wee bit.

CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 00:11

Oh dear! The desperation of Little Englanders to portray themselves and Global Entrepreneurs!

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 22/02/2018 00:19

Little Englander?!
Not at all - I've lived outwith Europe as well as all over the UK, mostly in Scotland.

But if it gives you comfort to put people into boxes of your choosing, driven by your own prejudices purely on how they voted in the Ref, then I shan't take that away from you.

You just crack on with your Eurocentric vision & cling hard to simplistic thought if it soothes you - it makes no difference to me.

CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 00:20

The desperation!

Trade deals are difficult to undo. And once you back out of one (because for instance that's what the public wanted via a general election) then the terms of the next one becomes harder (50 year minimum term etc). The problem is trade is business not democracy and they don't really mix.

As you will know I think Brexit is stupid. But mostly I think it's stupid because it's so patently obvious that we haven't got a clue what we are doing and have spun the public a line about what is in their control and what is possible.

DrivenToDespair Exactly. Reminds me of the old Project Manager mantra - "you can have it on time, on budget & meeting expectations". Choose two.

TalkinPeace · 22/02/2018 08:59

Gove had had enough of experts - but only when they did not match his own bias.

I read the Economist cover to cover every week. I disagree fundamentally with some of their views, but keep challenging mine as I did when I found out more about the University strikes and changed my opinion

I read Private Eye cover to cover every fortnight and try to work out what the comedy pages are hinting at.

I read New Scientist cover to cover every week to help me understand the world.

Websites : BBC, Guardian, Daily Heil, New York Times, local paper - gives me a reasonable cross section.

Nothing I read or hear makes me think that Brexit can work as outlined on the Boris Bus

DGRossetti · 22/02/2018 09:32

And we don't have the systems yet,

Very few (so few I won't even try and research it) countries would be capable of delivering totally bespoke (because Brexit is unique) working systems within 5 years, let alone the one year (well, one year, 4 weeks) till A50 is triggered. And that would be before you factor in the (growing) lack of expertise, and HMRCs IR35 bloodbath.

It really would be easier to put the first Briton on the moon. That's not hyperbole, but a simple fact. It's been done before. The pitfalls are known. The technology and expertise are available, and a 2 years timescale pretty realistic.

I'm more likely to get behind a UK moon mission than Brexit, Boris.

Reminds me of the old Project Manager mantra - "you can have it on time, on budget & meeting expectations"

I first learned that as a software engineer ...

Works,
On time,
in budget

pick two.

Globetrotter100 · 22/02/2018 12:21

Where's all the positivity gone? Wink

The Brexit Arms
CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 14:40

It gets ever more comical! TM has taken the 3 idiots to Chequers to get them to agree to a trade plan that the EU have already said is a non-starter.

There isn't so much as a hint of competence anywhere in this Government!

CardinalSin · 22/02/2018 16:00

And, as usual, the Pro-Brexit analysts get their figures entirely wrong...
