Never heard of euratom - what is it?
Well without membership of it, radiotherapy cancer treatment in UK hospitals might get tricky - as it governs the movement of radioactive materials between mines and processors and hospitals (among other thing).

The questions leavers get asked on here are ridiculous - it’s like sitting an exam.
Yup, and its one you keep failing, again and again and again.

Doubletrouble99 · 21/02/2018 18:03

Talkin - sorry to disappoint but radio active isotopes used in medical procedures are not subject to licence under the jurisdiction of Euroatom so will not be affected.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 18:06

I was under the impression that Euratom doesn't place any export restrictions on medical isotopes.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 18:07

Xpost with Double 😳

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2018 18:14

If you say so. That is not the word I hear from friends who work with radioactive materials in research departments designing equipment.

But, Hey !
as you are all happy for the legislators to decide what leaving the EU means, it might all pan out just fine and we'll stay in

Doubletrouble99 · 21/02/2018 18:48

TM confirmed this in an answer at PMQs this afternoon.

mummmy2017 · 21/02/2018 18:53

To be honest I just take your endless questions as a sign of your hopeless position.
We don't know, never studied this at uni, so don't feel like I have to sit a test on it.
Maybe we will go and I won't need to study anyway.

mummmy2017 · 21/02/2018 18:54

The horse has bolted, and your all still trying to decide which lock you should have used on the stable.

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2018 19:02

Mummmy
What will you do if Transition goes on for 10 years?
and then the decision makers decide to stay in the Customs Union ?

LondonMum8 · 21/02/2018 19:06

Basically it's like two different countries or perhaps even species. We should really take this idea further and divide the country up: 1 part would comprise London and people who either know what Euratom is or - like me - can reasonably infer what it is from the name alone, and the other part for Sunderland and the people who don't and can't :)

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 19:20

people who either know what Euratom is or - like me - can reasonably infer what it is from the name alone,

So clever!

And yet, so wrong 😢

Instead of relying on imagined superior powers of inference, perhaps you should take a few moments to read up on it.

The movement of medical isotopes are not affected by withdrawing from Euratom.

HTH 😃

Doubletrouble99 · 21/02/2018 19:25

Surfer has no need to know what Euratom is as it's not really affecting our lives or affected by Brexit Londonmum.

LondonMum8 · 21/02/2018 19:31

"The movement of medical isotopes are not affected by withdrawing from Euratom."

Random silly comment of the day. When did I say anything about that?

Doubletrouble99 · 21/02/2018 19:38

See my above comment Londonmum.

CardinalSin · 21/02/2018 19:42

"The Government has stated that withdrawal from the European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM) will not affect the UK's ability to import medical radioisotopes"

The key part of this is "The Government has stated..."

I understand that all Brexiteers unquestioningly believe the Government to be infallible and perfect in all ways, but, given that pretty much all members of the current cabinet have been shown to have no idea of what they're talking about, I would still be somewhat concerned if it directly affected me...

LondonMum8 · 21/02/2018 19:46

It is affected by Brexshit because instead of relying on Euratom the incompetent government will have to come up with an alternative regulatory framework which obviously is a tall order indeed.

Some of the isotopes used by the NHS have very short half-life and so are best transported quickly over a short unconstrained path, rather than through clogged up border from who knows where.

LondonMum8 · 21/02/2018 19:48

Yeah right, the government has also stated that Brexit means Brexit. That pretty much sums up the value of their statements.

Doubletrouble99 · 21/02/2018 20:00

Are you both seriously suggesting that the Prime Minister lied in an answer to a question in the house of commons? Get real!
I really think there would have been some mention of it on the news - 'PM lies on PMQs' -- No, nothing, not a word on the BBC or channel 4 news!!!

Anyway Londonmum do you really think short dated items like isotopes are going to be transported via lorries which are liable to get held up at Dover - of course they are sooo bulky!!

CardinalSin · 21/02/2018 20:07

TM has lied at PMQs before (and is not the first PM to do so). She even lied to the Queen ffs!

frumpety · 21/02/2018 20:16

To be fair to Mummy and the other 17 odd million who voted to leave the EU , they answered one question on polling day and that was simply they thought we should leave the EU .
Asking them how it is going to happen is pointless as even the bloody government haven't got a chuffing clue .
The difference is some of us actually care about the detail and some don't , some are happy to believe the government is doing all in its power to exit in a way that is not detrimental to the country , some myself included, don't believe a word the government says and worry about the future for all of us , regardless of their vote . Some are happy for the exit to be detrimental to the whole country , even though their reasons may be bonkers Sad
I admire Mummy for her passion in defending her vote , even though she didn't fully understand what it meant and still doesn't Grin

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2018 20:25

Are you both seriously suggesting that the Prime Minister lied in an answer to a question in the house of commons?
I cannot think of a Prime Minister who has NOT

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 21/02/2018 20:25

If you don't want to believe TM, then simply read up on it.

Here's a quick fact-check link, it links to other stuff within the text.

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2018 20:30

Who he ?

I'd rather listen to my mate who is the prof at a uni doing research thanks

Doubletrouble99 · 21/02/2018 20:37

If TM really lied about this don't you think a whole load of remain MPs would be jumping up and down and calling her out - but they are not. After all it would be easy to check, as I did! So not a lie then.

TalkinPeace · 21/02/2018 20:41

ROTFLMAOPMPL

The Remain MPs have every reason to keep their powder dry
its politics
she lies most weeks after all
