Thought I'd dust off the optics & open the bar for the festive period Xmas Smile

If any of the the old crowd are still around, then do pop in for a Christmas catch up & join me in toasting the end of the beginning!

Onward! To Brexit!

mummy, I'm starting to think you are being deliberating provactive as surely no one can miss the point as spectacularly as you are doing.

-There isn't an option of WTO and no border.

-There isn't an option of no FOM of people whilst resting FOM of the other 3 freedoms.

-There isn't the option of us staying in the SM for free because of the favoured nation rules.

It's our choice to leave the EU so we are responsible for all repercussions.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:04

^^Retaining not resting

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:05

Who is the No Brexit minister by the way?

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:10

Sorry, No deal minister?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/01/2018 22:10

So just who do you think will make a boarder?
The tooth fairy.

Well if you put it on the side of a big red bus, chances are people might believe it.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:12

Did you see Boris claimed the bus was wrong after all, the figure of £350m was too low?!

He's playing a dangerous game.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 22:12

Farnham MP Suella Fernandes, 37, not given the title, but that is her job,

Bearbehind you can repeat it as often as you like, but try reading up on it, the WTO is still an option, it has to be becasue if the EU27 say no deal, we have no where else to go, as we won't just roll over and say Ok, we are staying then.
Either we get a deal or we go WTO as no deal...
It's not that hard to understand even if you hate it so much and can't stomach the thought of it, it can still happen...

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:17

If she doesn't have that title how do you know that is her job?

WTO can't happen because we can't have a hard border.

It might be a theoritcal possibility if we didn't share a land border with the EU but we do, so it can't.

We will have to roll over and accept what we are offered because we have no other choice.

Suckers!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/01/2018 22:19

as we won't just roll over and say Ok, we are staying then.

Oh you will. And get a shit deal thats still better than crashing out.

I must say you have tremendous faith in a government that claimed it had impact assessment papers to only then back track. A government that issued more contracts to a company that had issued profit warnings..

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 22:19

MY Gosh, you really do believe it can't happen.
How can you put your head in the sand like that...
WOW just WOW.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:24

I don’t believe it will be badged as ‘remaining’ but the overall principle will the same

  • access to the SM
  • paying into the EU
  • abiding by EU rules

All with the added benefit of having no say in the creation of those rules

It’s you who has their head in the sand if you believe otherwise, particularly as you cannot begin to defend the logic behind your beliefs.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 22:33

I don't want to be in the EU
I voted out.]
You see there was this little box on the form, you put your mark in it.
They counted the votes. oh look LEAVE.
Do you know after your attitudes, all I hope is just like I have called it right over the last 30 years that I call it right now.
WTO comes into force,
Greece sues Germany.
Italy won't pay.
German buckles as it's lost so much trade.
The EU has to come begging.
We recover and the UK is a better safer place to live.
All because we felt the EU was corrupt.
Wait till they go after the MEP's for fraud.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 22:36

It’s lirlterslly impossible to discuss this with one so detached from reality.

Enjoy your fluffy cloud world mummy

OliviaD68 · 16/01/2018 22:43

@Bearbehind

Don't waste your time. Some are beyond access. Synapses just don't fire. Leave it.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 22:50

Or I just have a very different view to the future to you.

MsHooliesCardigan · 16/01/2018 22:58

mummmy There is different and there is deluded.
I have noticed that none of your Brexit chums have turned up to back you up on this because they are probably squirming with embarrassment as even they can see what utter nonsense you’re spouting.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 23:08

No one else was here, and I post the extreem as I feel your all so sure it's going to be so rosy, we roll over and beg, that won't happen.

Every paper you read is going on about WTO, and yet Bear just won't have it, that it could happen.

bakewelltarty · 16/01/2018 23:10

Mummy - is that the same Suella Fernandez who claimed (on Question Time) that the UK would absolutely not be paying a divorce bill. Claimed it was a lie and all part of 'Project Fear'? She must feel a little silly now.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 23:12

Yes, that's her.
Not sure what she will do.

ommmward · 16/01/2018 23:25

I suspect the main reason why few people are engaging with this discussion on mummmy's side of the argument is that most aren't really interested in debating the pros and cons of brexit any more. It only gets everyone in a froth. It never ever seems to shift people (on either side of the debate) from entirely entrenched viewpoints. In fact, maybe it entrenches those viewpoints more strongly (i think it might do for me).

What could i possibly say that would make any of you feel better about any of it? Or that would materially alter the outcome? I don't think that most people on this part of mumsnet would want to interpret any part of current, recent and likely-future events as wonderful, good, acceptable, or even "it'll all come out in the wash".

Doubletrouble99 · 16/01/2018 23:26

TM and JC have said they don't want to stay in the SM. So that what should be happening. We want a free trade deal. Not paying for access to the SM and accepting the 4 pillars etc.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 16/01/2018 23:40

I have noticed that none of your Brexit chums have turned up to back you up on this because they are probably squirming with embarrassment as even they can see what utter nonsense you’re spouting.

Not at all.

Just easier to ignore the tediously repetitive ranting of remoaning toddlers.

Why so adversarial all the time?
Why still arguing the same boring arguments?

(Rhetorical questions, no responses required)

surferjet · 17/01/2018 07:50

ommmward exactly.

Very few leavers come on this board anymore, everything’s been said a 1000 times before & they’re bored of it.
I do wonder why the MN remain massive still come on this thread though, I mean there’s literally 2 or 3 leavers on here, me being one of them ( & I don’t even read half of what they rant on about ) why do they bother?

Moussemoose · 17/01/2018 08:02

'They bother' because democracy isn't static. You don't have one vote on an issue and leave it at that. Issues change, debates shift and decisions are revisited despite what many Brexit supporters seem to think.

The nature of Brexit or if Brexit will actually occur are still relevant political issues.

Also, many remainers are looking for logic in what appears to be an illogical decision. If the decision was made for valid reasons that will help some people it would hurt less. The fact that decisions were made with no realistic understanding of import facts with long lasting negative implications deeply upsets people. Upset, distress, concern for others that's why 'they bother'.

SoulStew · 17/01/2018 08:12

I don’t really come here because the likes of Olivia have turned a brexit pub themed thread into their personal soap box, filing it with bile and nastiness. If leavers were allowed to chat in peace, maybe the brexit ‘chums’ would start posting again. But no, oliviad68 thinks we need to be ‘challenged ‘ on our every passing comment or idea. Nobody can freely air their ideas with the vicious and relentless ‘challenges’ of the remainers.
