Thought I'd dust off the optics & open the bar for the festive period Xmas Smile

If any of the the old crowd are still around, then do pop in for a Christmas catch up & join me in toasting the end of the beginning!

Onward! To Brexit!

@mummmy2017

there is no guide book

Correct, we don't have written constitution. The one rule that is very, very clear is that the House of Commons has the ultimate power in the UK. Therefore if the HoC says we have another referendum then we can have another referendum. That is how UK democracy works.

AgnesSkinner · 16/01/2018 19:54

This has never happend before there is no guide book...

Well it has happened before - Greenland left. 60,000 people and a single industry and it still took over two years to negotiate.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:58

The Vote is a distraction, it's not going to happen, but it is a sop thrown to distract you.
There is not the time or the money to go to the Country again.
How would it be worded.

Before there was a vote the all the deal details would have to be know, you don't like the wording of the deal you vote no, we end up no deal WTA... Oh and Corbyn doesn't want a vote either....

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:00

Give over with the 'bully' nonsense mummy

It's right up there on the Brexit bingo card too.

You keep harping on about the gaping hole in the EU coffers; can you even attempt to argue against my assertion that the hole will be nothing like you think because we are going to have to pay for access to the SM?

In terms of what we gain, it will be the difference between what we currently pay less what we continue to pay and the cost of implementing Brexit which will be the square root of fuck all.

Seriously, where do you see this huge windfall coming from?

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:02

Cardinalsin...

Tell me all the details of the new trade deals now in detail.
Who will we trade with.
What will we trade.
How much.

What paper colour will the trade deal be written on.
All unknown details ...

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 20:05

Mummy, you seem to be the one saying we will get all these deals!

You tell me!

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:08

Unknown means we don't know.
Who would have seen that tea would one day not be worth it's weigh in gold...
Sorry the crystal ball isn't working so I can supply you with answers.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:11

Yet you seem to know for sure the EU can't manage without us staying? Hmm

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:12

Also can i please have a list of all the countries who are not going to trade with the UK.
As you seem to think everyone is too scared to touch the UK over fear of EU.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:14

No one has said countries won't trade with us, only that they won't be falling over themselves to give us preferable terms.

Are you going to even attempt to tell us how you think we can have free access to the SM?

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:14

I said they will have a hole in the budget and should cut back, not increase their outgoings, not that they couldn't manage, different thing entirely .

OliviaD68 · 16/01/2018 20:14

The. Cluelessness. Is. Shocking.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:16

I'm not talking about the EU mummy, I'm talking about the UK.

Why are you so obsessed the the economics of the EU without us yet do not have a single clue how we can stay aligned with the SM without cost to us? Hmm

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:18

NOT, as don't understand the SM in sufficient detail, and therefore can't provide answers. so going to leave that to the people paid 6 figures to understand it.

So you agree we will still have trade, pleased you acknowledge that.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:18

Sorry, I was a message behind- principle stands though.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:21

Yet you understand the economics of the EU sufficiently well to continue arguing they can't increase spending if we leave?

It's not rocket science on our side.

We have pledged to remain 'fully aligned' to the SM/CU on all matters applicable to NI.

That means we can't actually leave the SM/CU, at least in reality.

Call it what you like but we will still need to pay the EU for this access if we are to remain 'fully aligned'

Are you denying that is the case or do you simply not have a clue at all?

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 20:22

Olivia - it is quite stunning, isn't it. I would be stupendously embarrassed to spend so long arguing with someone before admitting that I hadn't a clue what I was talking about!

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:23

The single market, as in there is no other markets in the world, to trade with.
I keep saying we can still trade with the EU, they will pay us tariffs and we pay them, it's not a one way street.
Your holding the SM card up like some kind of talisman, it's not, it's a way of trading that makes life easier, but it is not the be all and end all of the world...
Africa is not in the single Market, and last time I looked it was still on the Map.
Same with the US, Canada,
Yes we could pay for access, but it benefits them as well as us...

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 16/01/2018 20:25

mummy, I wouldn't waste your breath tbh - the dog whistle has brought the pack & they're doing their 'thing'.

They're a strangely obsessive bunch.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:28

Oh here we go bring out your bingo cards,
I must be stupid and not understand.. ha ha

UNKNOWN .. things are unknown ,
To me as well as you.
Armchair politics, that mean nothing as we count for nothing...
Shame your too to admit your as powerless as I know I am to change things...

Moussemoose · 16/01/2018 20:28

@FaithHopeCharityDesperation

By "thing" I assume you mean debate. This a thread to debate Brexit so people are debating.

I also assume you know what the term "dog whistle" politics refers to? The irony of a pro Brexit supporter using it is nearly too much.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:29

Are you for real mummy. Hmm

Do you honestly think the relevance of the SM is only that they are the only Market we can trade in?

Words fail me.

The SM is hugely important because it's what allows us to not have a hard border between NI/ROI

It's not as relevant in terms of who we do and don't trade with, it's hugely important because we cannot have a border in NI, and have pledged this, yet, unless we effectively remain in the SM, we would have to have some form of control between what would be the UK and the EU.

Please tell me you do actually understand that much?

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 20:30

Cardinalsin , your embarrassment is forgiven, it's not your fault dear.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 20:31

faith, you did use to make a positive contribution to these threads, you at least provided some sensible discussion but lately all you do is stir the pot. Not really sure why you bother.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 16/01/2018 20:37

By "thing" I assume you mean debate. This a thread to debate Brexit so people are debating.

No, I meant the ambush thing that is a signature move - all gang up against one poster.

I also assume you know what the term "dog whistle" politics refers to? The irony of a pro Brexit supporter using it is nearly too much.

No. I didn't mention politics at all.
I meant the whistle that assembles the rabid, gnashing pack.
