Thought I'd dust off the optics & open the bar for the festive period Xmas Smile

If any of the the old crowd are still around, then do pop in for a Christmas catch up & join me in toasting the end of the beginning!

Onward! To Brexit!

Ah, Strawmen.

And no answers. Colour me shocked.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:08

It must be odd in your world, where you worship the Eu and all it stands for.
Where you have no concept of a world outside, an institution that has only been part of the UK deal for 40 years.
Maybe you should take something for your addiction..

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 19:08

So you're not concerned that countries that are in the process of a trade deal with the UK that could take 5, 10, years will not be remotely interested in sorting out a trade deal with the UK until 2025, 2030.

Yet you're fantastically worried about how the rest of the EU are going to cope without all our loverly money.

It's still utterly bizarre...

Moussemoose · 16/01/2018 19:09

dumb
ADJECTIVE

1predicative Temporarily unable or unwilling to speak.
‘she stood dumb while he poured out a stream of abuse’
Synonyms
1.1attributive Resulting in or expressed by speechlessness.
‘they stared in dumb amazement’
More example sentencesSynonyms
2dated, offensive (of a person) unable to speak, most typically because of congenital deafness.
‘he was born deaf, dumb, and blind’
Synonyms
2.1 (of animals) unable to speak as a natural state and thus regarded as helpless or deserving pity.
3North American informal Stupid.
‘a dumb question’

I am sure it is the final definition being used. If words have more than one meaning using it one way does not mean every meaning of the word is implied.

E.g "you are really dumb" = I think you are stupid. This does not in away mean I think you are unable to speak. Used this way you would be 'dumb' to be offended.

Clear enough?

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 19:09

My "love" for the EU doesn't seem to be blinding me to the facts anywhere near as much as your hatred is!

Moussemoose · 16/01/2018 19:12

@mummmy2017

In relation to "worshiping the EU". Several remainers, myself included, have acknowledged that the EU is far from perfect. However, we believe it is the preferred option for the reasons explained and argued on this thread.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 19:13

mummy could you tell us how you think we can leave the SM/CU and still stay 'fully aligned' with all requirements that affect NI?

This shit needs sorting out.

You can't just pretend it will all go away.

What do you think the options are?

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:14

I don't hate the EU.
And my god your blind to think people won't trade with us for a decade...
Even the EU will trade with us...

Pointing out the EU will have a shortfall, is not fanatical. Shame on you,

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:17

Bearbehind, I am a Mum not a someone paid to sort this all out.

That;s why they are there and I am at home.
I don't need to provide answers, as nothing I say will be of use in Whitehall and Parliament.
While I can see this, others seem to think MN answers will form part of the final deal... shrugs shoulders...

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 19:17

People will trade with us, but at a higher cost, so they will trade less with us.

Quite how we're suddenly going to make up for what we will inevitably lose in our trading relationship with the EU, I'm still waiting for you to enlighten me...

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 19:18

"I don't need to provide answers"

Just as well, all things considered...

user1474652148 · 16/01/2018 19:20

Yay!! Count me in for a toast to the countdown 🎉
I love our European neighbours but not the beaucracy of the federal future.
Very excited about the future - genuinely.

Moussemoose · 16/01/2018 19:22

@mummmy2017
I don't need to provide answers, as nothing I say will be of use in Whitehall and Parliament

Correct, but you are on a thread where Brexit is debated. During a debate debaters answer questions. It's kind of the whole point.

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 19:25

I am a Mum not a someone paid to sort this all out.

Another one for the Brexit bingo card.

I knew that would be exactly your response.

It's a fucking joke.

You lot voted to turn water into wine and believing it's completely possible yet have no fucking clue how it can be done.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:26

You opinion of your own opinion is pretty high,
Shame the only person who values it is yourself.

I don't need to provide answers because I don't get paid to read the information, process it and provide feed back,
I read the news make comments as to how I see, feel.
Free speech allows this, if i am right or wrong doesn't matter, as very little we do influences the out come.
I got to vote, and for that I am grateful, because for once I did have influence.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:28

Strange how yet again Remainers have gone into attack mode, you do that a lot, is there any reason you do this, or is it just lack of self control?

Bearbehind · 16/01/2018 19:30

It's not attack mode mummy, it's being sick of posters who believe anything difficult can just be ignored and everything will be fine.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:36

I don't believe that, many times i have said it will be hard.
I don't know the answers, but i do believe that the UK isn't without options.
I also believe that the EU are not as strong as they try to make out as there will always be disagreement in a room of 27 different countries.
I believe if we go to WTO it will be hard, but also that over time things will change. Trade won't stop it will just be different.
That there was a vote, and if people didn't know what they voted for, they should have made more effort before they voted.
That you don't keep voting till you get the answer the bully's want,

AgnesSkinner · 16/01/2018 19:39

It’s not just that anything difficult can be ignored - it’s that anything difficult and quite probably impossible will be sorted out by someone else.

It’s little wonder the DExEU is struggling to recruit and retain staff. It must be a rabbit hole where you have to believe in several impossible things all at once.

Moussemoose · 16/01/2018 19:39

"Attack mode"

It's a debate.

Poster A puts forward a point.
Poster B refutes the point and makes a counter argument.
Poster A replies and addresses the point B made

And they continue debating. If one person simply says "I'm right cos I just am, I'm allowed to say I'm right" that's not a debate. Far from "lack of self control" this is how debates work.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 16/01/2018 19:40

I find it quite odd that grown women are falling over themselves to defend their use of a word that is easily avoided.

'Dumb' as a synonym for 'stupid' is not very nice, considering its origins.

Inkanta · 16/01/2018 19:43

"I find it quite odd that grown women are falling over themselves to defend their use of a word that is easily avoided.

I know!

Not very nice.

mummmy2017 · 16/01/2018 19:44

This has never happend before there is no guide book...
How hard is that to understand...
This is also a 2 way thing.

How many Grandchildren will you have in 2030.
What will be their dates of Birth Names ,
What sex will they be...
All unknowns, but that doesn't mean they won't happen.

Moussemoose · 16/01/2018 19:46

That you don't keep voting till you get the answer the bully's want

But we do keep on voting. There are many precedents where several votes occur. The Referendum Bill was extraordinary badly written and thought out. The checks and balances necessary just weren't in place, if it had been written properly these checks would already have been in place.

Re-votes, higher percentages before major change, best of X, all are found in constitutions.

Another referendum would not be an affront to democracy and if backed by Parliament would be totally legitimate and legal.

CardinalSin · 16/01/2018 19:47

False equivalence dear Mummy, false equivalence...
