Brexit

Where do you realistically think we go from here?

So Amber Rudd says 'no deal is unthinkable' and David Davis says the opposite.

DD also says we'd only agree to a transition period if the terms of our deal were known before hand.

The EU are still insisting the 3 priorities are addressed before talks can move to trade so basically we're at a stand off.

Something has to give at some point.

Regardless of what you want to happen, what do you think will actually happen.

I think we will walk away from the talks, all hell will break loose when the repercussions of that come to the fore and we'll end up staying in the EU in some capacity but in a much weaker position than before.

I apologise if my initial apology did not go far enough. To say leave voters were not excited about March 2019 was quite awful of me.

I’m afraid that tangible proof of this is reqd...

Perhaps via the medium of a public display of some sort?

Otherwise it’s not clear that you are truly regretful.

I think this: “...” perfectly sums up where it’s all at, at the moment Bear!

It really is a case of ‘....’

Ag-a-doo-doo-doo, push pineapple, shake the tree
Aga-doo-doo-doo, push pineapple, grind coffee
To the left, to the right, jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night, sing with a hula melody

That better? WinkGrin

Those of us who want to remain in the EU, can campaign and push our Remain representatives in parliament and the EU parliament to represent us.

The tide of public opinion is turning in favour of remain, despite all the propaganda spewed by most of the press and social media. The age demographic of the leave vote means the vote has already dropped substantially since June 2016.

May forbids parliamentary votes on her cruel Universal Credit policy because she can't get a majority, despite her £1b DUP bung; she's not going to be able to get any Enabling Bill legislation through.

Her premiership is dead, her party is in tatters, those who 'funded' leave are about to be pursued through the courts.

Those of us who want to remain in the EU will just step up our campaigning. Smile

In an ideal world, I’d love all diehard remainers to be sent off to live on an island somewhere -
say the isle of white. That way, the rest of us could just get on with our lives without having to put up with their constant witterings. They’d be happy too, because they could have really intelligent conversations about how intelligent they all are.

I too prefer to campaign over being interned for my political opinions. Funny that.

Oooh, the tantrums that would ensue if someone suggested all diehard leavers be sent off to live on an island somewhere...

M4Dad · 19/10/2017 12:58

There's no conspiracy. I forgot my password

...and your email address?

Bearbehind · 19/10/2017 13:02

m4 are you bored as you just appear to be here to shit stir as usual.

Yes - imagine that sinceyouask Grin

The diehard leavers could negotiate a free trade deal with the rest of the UK and the rest of the world. After all, the majority of goods on that island would be imported so the UK would need them more than they need the UK. And if the UK refuses their demands, they'll just go it alone and start making everything themselves Grin

Or is it just a re-reg** to get round a temp ban following repeatedly breaking talk guidelines?

If you get a temp ban they suspend your account & don’t tell you - the only way you know is that your password doesn’t work, and you can’t reset it.

Fuck me that's a bit harsh on the Isle of White

LeavesinAutumn · 19/10/2017 13:38

People moved heaven and earth to get that referendum, people even voted for....Ukip! Shock which was clearly a tactical move to put pressure on the Tories to get that Ref.

They are not going to get out of Brexit. No one on the remain side one notes did the same thing in any decent numbers to cancel B altogether. Its clear aside from the few rowdy remainers on here, in RL the will to remain and vote tactically to do so, is, not, there.

LeavesinAutumn · 19/10/2017 13:40

And if the UK refuses their demands, they'll just go it alone and start making everything themselves

what will be will be. Its better than being in the EU Smile

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 19/10/2017 13:51

Bear Grin
I’m pretty obvious I think - I’m very consistent!

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 19/10/2017 13:52

To clarify - I served my suspension with honour - I didn’t re-reg!

Peregrina · 19/10/2017 13:54

Where is this Isle of White? Is it somewhere near the island of Gibraltar?

woman11017 · 19/10/2017 13:56

isle of white there's a joke too obvious to make about that one, my friend. Grin

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 19/10/2017 13:57

Further clarification for Bear...!!

I was suspended for a week under this name, never with a previous name Smile
(Following a rather heated row with a momentum enthusiast)

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 19/10/2017 13:58

The isle of white confusion is reminiscent of wight vs white in Game of Thrones.

M4Dad · 19/10/2017 14:13

m4 are you bored as you just appear to be here to shit stir as usual

You obviously don't do irony, do you?

LewisThere · 19/10/2017 14:16

Nobody knows what will or won’t happen yet.

What about someone form the Leave group actually telling us in which direction they want to go? Do they want some sort of agreement with the EU, is it the no deal situation, have your cake and eat it, what exactely are we trying to achieve?
Itvfeels like no one actually has any idea because they somehow think that they do not hold any card and it all rest in what the EU will be happy to give to the UK.
That's a very strange way of starting negociations TBH. Let's see what the other party is happy to give us and then let's adapt out strategy around it. Where is the 'taking back control' bit there?
