It seems not many people have?

I wanted FoM to end - still do.

I've nothing at all against immigration or immigrants - I am fully aware that immigration is necessary.

I would just prefer immigration to be controlled & equally applied across all nationalities on a needs or family ties basis.

fakenamefornow · 19/09/2017 21:06

I remain utterly baffled as to why it is racist to worry about the effect of high levels of immigration on a society, and in particular small towns.

I don't think it is. I do however think it's racist to say 'all immigrants should fuck off home' maybe it's just rude, I don't know, what'd you think?

This is more often how I've heard concerns about immigration expressed irl. Don't even get me started on the people I've heard saying they voted out because of all the terrorists/Muslims, (used interchangeably). Now I know people will come on saying same old, same old Leavers aren't racist (I agree, some aren't). But I have yet to hear a single Leave voter say 'you know what, there is a problem with racism within the Leave vote' I have never heard any one of them express even a tiny bit of concern about this, irl or online. I've heard people online (never irl) saying they voted Remain but would change to Leave now because they don't like the way Leave voters have been treated since the referendum. I have NEVER heard a Leave voter say they would now vote Remain because they don't like the way immigrants have been treated since the referendum. I've heard them change sides for other reasons, but not this, the fact Leave appeals to racists don't seem to be of any concern to Leave voters.

Sigh. I voted leave. Biggest mistake ever. I wanted to send a message about TTIP and because there had been an article about the EU not necessarily honouring the concessions Cameron got. I really didn't think leave stood a chance. I know. Stupid reasons.

Write to your Mp or TM and tell them. I wonder what they'd write back? Tough?

I have said many times that there are some leavers that are racist, I have also said that there are some remainers that are racist and only want immigration for the cheap labour.

If you have ever seen the picking work gangs that have replaced some of the indigenous workforce you will know what I mean.

Wormysquirmy · 19/09/2017 23:22

That's just it. The most racist people I know voted remain, as the slave labour is very beneficial, thanks very much.

The Leave voters I know, including me, are open minded and not remotely racist but had serious concerns about wage deflation and uncontrolled immigration levels.

Go figure!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 20/09/2017 07:59

Weird old world

my experience of leave voters being racist and of remain voters APPEARING not to be racist is exactly the opposite

I think its bloody easy to tell if someone is racist but not so easy to tell if someone if truly not racist

surferjet · 20/09/2017 09:26

Absolutely - remainers are just angry they can't exploit immigrants anymore.
No more £3.50 an hour for a polish nanny, they'll have to pay an English person the minimum wage now. They're crying into their homemade granola. Hypocrites.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 09:49

Jeremy Clarkson is a racist buffoon who voted remain, but the plural of anecdote is not data.

I challenge racism if I see or hear it. Always. Facebook however are really lax at removing vile comments, I've reported so many yet get an automated response saying the posts don't breach their community standards Hmm It's incredibly annoying.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 20/09/2017 09:50

What a load of rubbish surferjet

Can you not say anything without bringing false stereotypes into it?

JWIM · 20/09/2017 10:22

Surferjet - stereotyping perhaps? Is it just an English - not Welsh or Scots or Irish - Nanny? Not keen on the rest of the United Kindom?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 20/09/2017 10:35

Me too.
Most notably during the election, the Diane Abbot abuse was horrific, but apparently totes ok for fb.

Mistigri · 20/09/2017 10:48

Lordy what utter tosh.

Some of us are remainers AND immigrants!

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 12:34

Faith it makes me wonder if anyone at Facebook HQ even reads the reports!

Figmentofmyimagination · 20/09/2017 15:52

Panic not surfer. The au pair system will continue unaffected. It is not - and never has been - necessary to pay the minimum wage to someone who lives in your home as a member of your family, attends college part time etc.

If you are really bothered by this, you should be targeting employer abuse of the domestic workers visa system and/or illegal trafficking of domestic workers. Have a look at the kalayaan website - www. Kalayaan.org.uk

Figmentofmyimagination · 20/09/2017 15:54

BoneyBackJefferson · 20/09/2017 17:31

Mistigri

Some Brexiters are also immigrants!

Bearbehind · 20/09/2017 18:06

remainers are just angry they can't exploit immigrants anymore

Yet another remarkable insight into the lengths some Leavers have gone to in their heads in order to justify their 'I'm not racist but...' position.

It's mind blowing really Hmm

histinyhandsarefrozen · 20/09/2017 18:21

It's only surfer Grin

What I can't understand is why other leavers never seem to pick her up on her stupid baseless theories.

Bearbehind · 20/09/2017 18:30

Because Leavers have been conditioned to never doubt or dispute anything that is said by one of their own.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 20/09/2017 19:27

Brexit is the hysterical left's fault. They screamed 'racist' anytime someone dared say they had an issue with immigration - they tried to shutdown debate but got Brexit instead.
You have to laugh.

A Labour MP who campaigned for refugees - murdered in the run up to the referendum.
Race hate crimes spike post referendum
Prominent remain campaigners receiving rape and death threats online.

Thats not the "hysterical left" and I'm sure as hell not laughing.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 19:57

Oh bugger off bear with your sweeping statements, Surfer can say what she likes on an anonymous forum for adults and unless it's beyond the pale then I for one couldn't give a ha'penny jizz what it is. If I trawled the internet looking for leave voters comments that I disagreed with, with view to policing them, then I'd be a very busy woman. Ain't got time nor the inclination for that shit.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 19:59

And given that I'm 'on the hysterical left' myself, as it were, I didn't pull her up on that either, It's got fuck all to do with voting leave and more to do with not giving two shits.

Bearbehind · 20/09/2017 20:22

The trouble is michael, mine isn't a sweeping statement, its based on repeated behaviour on these threads.

If you want to prove me wrong, could you attempt to critique Boris Johnson's comment about the statement on the bus actually being true.

Do you honestly think there's £350m a week for the NHS?

If you don't, have you questioned his statement?

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/09/2017 20:41

It was a sweeping statement.

As for repeated behaviour, you're a fine one to talk; you just pitch up to poke people with your stick of condemnation.

You are so self-righteous at times; slamming leave voters as being worse than shit when you were quite happy to fuck the poor, sick and disabled over with austerity on steroids, inhumane health assessments and cruel sanctions. Go polish your halo if you're at a loose end.

The £350 million was quickly debunked as being an erroneous figure. It was a load of bollocks. That's what I think.
