I'm no rtb but I'll give it a shot, though her efforts deserve much more than me.

The August negotiation round has, well, fizzled out in much the same way as any other. It's taken over a year to get to written position papers and there's still no clue as to a direction from the UK government.

Japan, meanwhile, is about to sign off on a deal with the EU. A deal we want to copy.

@faisalislam
^but if post brexit britain's trade deal with third biggest economy in world is to be based on Brussels' deal, what about rest? TTIP? Canada?
...when PM signs off statements like this on primacy of EU-third party deals, one wonders how temporary the temporary customs union will be^

The NHS is now launching a drive to recruit foreign GPs, like the ones that have left thanks to Brexit. It's a good job they'll be £350m a week better off now. Oh hang on...

www.express.co.uk/news/uk/850233/Brexit-news-Nigel-Farage-slams-EU-thuggery-European-Union-stalls-Brexit-talks
'It’s THUGGERY!' Farage RAILS AGAINST the 'bad people' of Brussels' anti-Brexit plot
NIGEL FARAGE tore into Brussels Eurocrats for their attempts to bully the United Kingdom out of a positive Brexit deal during an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.

We've had two months of relative Brexit sanity. Then the politicians have gone back to work.

Farage is hilarious. He think the EU are 'bullying' and 'bad people' and are trying to 'scupper a sensible conversation' because they want to protect the EU.

Let me re phrase that properly:

"Wah wah wah, I'm not getting my own way and the EU isn't breaking up like us hardline Brexiteers wanted. How dare they want to continue the EU. Why are we not getting our cake and eating it? We are the mighty UK, why are these foreigners considering their own interests ahead of ours? This should not be allowed. Stamps feet"

Ian Dunt‏ @IanDunt
Kate Hoey, monstrous mediocrity that she is, says voting against repeal bill betrays the "wishes of the British people".
Another supporter of parliamentary sovereignty who wants to hand the government powers to arbitrarily overrule parliament.

Stella Creasy: Can DD confirm that Brits will be able to book their European holiday for next year?
DD: "One duty you do have towards your constituents is not to start scare stories." A slur, of course. Creasy is right
Without Open Skies deal, there's no guarantee there. Project Fear is what they call the prologue to objective reality.

Caroline Lucas demands the publication of the impact statements on Brexit. More info on that here
DD suggests that they can't publish because it would help other side. This is standard objection to Brexit FoIs. It's nonsense.
Although it has advantage of humour. "We can't let them see the extent to which we're blowing our own head off! It'll reduce our leverage!"

Outside of Clarke, haven't heard any criticism from Tory benches, not even from Soubry. Bodes v.badly for votes on transition/repeal bill.
If anyone spots a Tory with a functioning human spine, let me know.

God he's right. We are fucked.

RedToothBrush · 05/09/2017 17:54

Kate Hoey was elected on a Labour manifesto to vote against the Bill

Does anyone know any remainers living in Vauxhall who voted Labour at the election?

If you do, can you ask them wtf they were thinking?

Peregrina · 05/09/2017 17:56

Don't forget that 9th September for those trade deals to be started was last year, not 4 day's hence.

RedToothBrush · 05/09/2017 17:56

Ian Dunt‏ @IanDunt
Over and over again, Tory MPs standing up to attack Labour position on the basis that it approached something akin to sanity.

DD asked what EU reaction is to aim of having exact same benefits outside SM as inside it. DD says he makes no apologies for being ambitious
Someone needs to tell DD the difference between ambition and lunacy. If I try to eat my way to an athletic physique, that's not ambitious.
That's being a fucking numpty.

Exact same benefits?

So I get to keep my right to vote in EU elections and be represented in the EU parliament?

This country is horrible.

Anyone who thinks its ok to admit someone to work for the NHS, but not their children or partner is a scumbag.

Any of these people who want a carer when elderly should be put on the bottom of a waiting list.

RedToothBrush · 05/09/2017 18:27

As is being pointed out on twitter, how does this leaked document help our negotiating position with the EU.

The short answer is it makes it worse. Much worse.

No deal it is then.

Goody.

RedToothBrush · 05/09/2017 18:28

Want to bet this is the September speech from May? Announcing this heap of shit.

annandale · 05/09/2017 18:35

That leaked policy will play well imo and not just with Farage.

Tbh quite a lot of remainers including me felt the government should have used restrictions on FOM to slow its implementation this is what immigration restrictions look like.

The Government Has Quietly Shelved NHS 18-Week Waiting Time Target
Labour peer says ministers may have acted unlawfully.

Lord Philip Hunt of Kings Heath said he believes ministers may have acted unlawfully by removing the target from the NHS Regulations for 2017, without making a public statement or informing Parliament.

EternalOptimistToo · 05/09/2017 18:40

I'm not sure why this comes as surprise to anyone TBH.

It was clear, even just after the referendum, that EU citizens would end up being treated the same than non EU citizens. This is basically what this paper seems to say.
Visa to enter the country, biometric identification, no right to bring family members etc etc.

It is in line with the policy of the Tory government in the last 10 years too - all centered on reducing immigration even if buisnesses are been saying again and again that they NEED immigration.

What I haven't seen is if EU citizens already in the country would have to meet those requirements too. I suspect long term, this is the aim.

David Davis cites US/ Canada border as example for Ireland. Irish PM visited that border two weeks ago & said it 'would not be desirable.'

Allie Renison‏*@AllieRenison*

Irish PM said this was still a "hard border" (I've driven thru it multiple times. People/trucks are always stopped).

So there we have it.

It was about immigration after all. Disingenuous leavers can fuck right off.

TheElementsSong · 05/09/2017 18:56

Anyone who thinks its ok to admit someone to work for the NHS, but not their children or partner is a scumbag.

This is pretty much exactly what the HO, under the influence of successive Home Secs, who think they're delivering the Will of The Brexiteering People, is/has been doing.

TheElementsSong · 05/09/2017 18:59

Meanwhile, here are some dreadful UnBeLeaving DownTalkers. But they are Foreign, so it stands to reason Hmm.

uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-economy-m-a/overseas-owners-become-net-sellers-of-british-firms-data-shows-idUKKCN1BG1LQ

Overseas owners became net sellers of British companies for the first time in 15 years between April and June, according to data that could hint at nerves among foreign investors over Brexit.

Foreign businesses sold British firms worth 3.8 billion pounds in the period, outweighing acquisitions of 2.9 billion pounds, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said as Britain gears up to leave the European Union.

91% of Dreamers are employed.

US would lose over $400 billion in GDP if they're deported

They have spotless records.

This is just racism.

How can people criticise Trump, when we are EXACTLY the same?

Peregrina · 05/09/2017 19:11

That document appalls me. Might I ask, how does it affect those citizens in N Ireland who choose to hold Irish passports? I suppose the HO's answer there is that they are also entitle to British passports.
