Tomorrow is the Queen’s Speech. In honour of that the start of this thread is written in its honour:

….
Immigration is bad. Except for that good immigration.
….
….
Brexit means Brexit
….
Pilot scheme.
....
….
….
Money for –the DUP-- NI
….
….
Brexit means Brexit
….
The Internet is Bad. Newspapers are good.
….
Brexit means Brexit.
….
….
….
Britain wave your flag.
….
….
….

(The Queen’s turns over the page to read the back of the A4 sheet, only to find it blank)

In fact, Brexit came about to solve an internal Tory Party conflict, so even more outrageous if 3 million E27 expats and 1.2 million UK expats were to lose their previous rights

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 23/06/2017 18:23

EDL are a bunch of middle aged bald fat idiots with the odd delusional black guy who have more police attending marches than they do supporters

They are also always outnumbered by the nutjobs in the SWP

Mrsmartell08 · 23/06/2017 18:23

...amd the EU know that. They understand that there is no mandate to leave
So why don't our politicians??

BiglyBadgers · 23/06/2017 18:29

Non violent political action has been the corner stone of the left, as I know you know, bigly that's not changing now. Labour governments in Britain have never had a mandate through violence.

The young have voted in huge numbers, they have engaged and they have seen a big effect for their efforts. However, these are people who have in the past seen politics as not been relevent to them. Have, in fact actively distrusted many of the institutions of Government. If, after this election they find that they are still not listened to. That their vote gets twisted into being seen as supporting the very thing they stood against, I can't see them hanging about engaging in politics much more. They will be angry and disenfranchised. They will not be protesting or even rioting to bring about a labour Government, they will not see themselves as part of a moderate left, they will be doing the only thing they think will get a reaction and make their anger heard after they tried and failed through the official means.

It happened in 2011 after the death of Mark Duggan and it can happen again if people feel their voices are dismissed.

BiglyBadgers · 23/06/2017 18:32

Hmm...some somewhat eccentric punctuation there, but I think you get the point. Blush

BiglyBadgers · 23/06/2017 18:42

Dead Ringers on R4 are doing a super sketch comparing Diane and BoJo's respective interview fails. Grin

The only consoling thought I have is that eventually they will all have to leave the UK or risk getting lynched.
In fact hasn't farage already intimated he fears that could happen?

On upside of all this, is that it has shut a few of the "how difficult can it be ?" Leavers up.

I've also notice much less talk of 'Remoaners'.

Gumpendorf · 23/06/2017 19:22

Loved Dead Ringers, bigly. BoJo and Diane and David Davis the Brexit Bulldog Grin

Meanwhile, Loathsome telling Maitlis that broadcasters should be more patriotic and get behind the government's Brexit stance. Confused

A year after the referendum, chaos reigns in London while the EU is on the rise the truth, ruth.

On Mark Duggan, I think you may well be right Bigly. And what has given so much strength to those who follow the left here, is the very deliberate choice to avoid violence at all costs. What others choose to do, is their choice.

sodablackcurrant · 23/06/2017 20:00

The information, links and debate here is brilliant.

Thanks for your efforts everyone.

That Irish Times article (posted by RedToothBrush) is quite unsettling. I can see the dilemma the ROI has compared to other countries in the EU. It is a terrible shame that it must come to this, after all the years of brokering peace, the GFA and the great relationship between the two countries over the years.

UK is Ireland's biggest trading partner within the EU. No wonder ROI is getting very nervous. Has to have a foot in both camps. Will be very difficult road for them.

So bloody unnecessary. I am so saddened and very fed up today about all this. Sorry for indulging myself.

BiglyBadgers · 23/06/2017 20:01

Just saw that C4 interview with Leadsom telling the media to be more patriotic and shut up with their annoying questions. They just have not learned a damn thing. It makes me bloody furious to hear them talking such shit. Angry

LovelyBath77 · 23/06/2017 20:07

Thanks for the immigration figures, I checked and the article I saw was about population growth in the Uk which overall was high, rather than simply immigration, as mentioned it has gone down. Sorry for the confusion.

woman12345 · 23/06/2017 20:11

Leadsom and fellow travellers will learn. They won't like it. Smile

citroenpresse · 23/06/2017 20:12

Send for Dominic Cummings is the message on ConservativeHome for May i.e. try find some people who 'won' (Vote Leave). How desperate are they?

HashiAsLarry · 23/06/2017 20:23

When wondering about factors of brexit, this is important. Not just politicians but media too.

Leadsom telling the media to be more patriotic and shut up with their annoying questions.

They haven't got anything left but that. Although, since I recall the "Shut up and just believe or else you're an unpatriotic traitor" rhetoric started 364 days ago, perhaps it is more accurate to say that this was all they ever had in the first place.

Mrsmartell08 · 23/06/2017 20:25

Yes
I'm both a saboteur and traitor

DumbledoresApprentice · 23/06/2017 20:31

Mrsmartell08 · 23/06/2017 20:35

woman12345 · 23/06/2017 20:36

And Ikea meatballs? If anything convinced me this was a not a good idea, that was it MrsMartell

'brexit' is over. It's a bit sticky and ,despite one sister down, we won.

Mrsmartell08 · 23/06/2017 20:38

Hell yes

I will go to the barricades to protect my Ikea meatballs!!!
