WELLLLL

Its just before 2.00am.

So far its the YouGov model all the way. Still a long way to go but, the Cons are not getting the top of their target list and Labour are doing very well in seats they just 'shouldn't be'.

Corbyn is now favourite to take the poison chalice of Brexit, but they may not be the largest party yet.

This is looking right now like 1974 not 1983.

May's potted regardless. I look forward to her resignation speech. Its still entirely possible that our next government is a Tory Minority under another leader.

The LDs are having a rough night so far. They are loosing deposits all over the place as they are squeezed out. But they still might hold the balance of power yet. Though they are pledged not to go into coalition.

Another election in the autumn? Brexit delayed and going soft and squishy?

Ken has nice taste in music too.

On the tory press:
'It was the mums what won it' this time The Sun was no where in sight. ( youth vote, tuition costs, NHS cuts, disability cuts, caring for those who need caring for, school cuts website, nagging teens to vote etc) Grin And the lovely mn. Smile

BigChocFrenzy · 09/06/2017 17:52

(Sorry if already posted) Only 5 Cabinet posts announced so far, no change:
Hammond, Rudd, Bojo, DD, Fallon

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2017 17:52

So Hammond, Rudd, Johnson, Davis and Fallon all stay. She didn't have the power to get rid. To me that says they are powerful voices that she doesn't think she can risk pissing off. Suggests they have level of power.

No Gove in a top job. Still expecting him to appear. Still expecting a total mutiny if nick and Fiona stay.

She has no mandate. She's not flexible. She will destroy the party if she carries on like this. This isn't anything to do with Brexit really. Just Tory stubbornness and power.

I also almost have the feeling that may being vindictive and holding a grudge she will try and somehow 'punish' the young for this.

He looks like a malevolent armadillo

TatianaLarina · 09/06/2017 17:54

The EU will be happy about DD, ha.

squoosh · 09/06/2017 17:55

Paul Dacre must be constipated with rage.

Badders123 · 09/06/2017 17:55

It was women and the young that lost the Tories their majority
All parties would do well to remember this

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 17:56

She can try and punish the young...but the old are being replaced by them every day

I will stand with them. I am so bloody proud of our young. I really am. I won't always agree with the way they want to go in the future but they are savvy these kids

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 17:57

Ps I used to be showme on these threads. Ken is sex in hush puppies

CleopatraTheCatLover · 09/06/2017 17:57

everthibkyouvebeenconned I agree, and am making a point of thanking the youngsters who voted. Would also like to thank the tellers. Must have been an arduous night. Does anyone know if it's it local councils that organise this?

Labour will save time and gain votes during forthcoming tory implosion, and then step forth. I don't really know much about military strategy, but I think this is a traditional method. But then again, who knows what the future will bring. This is not the Friday I'd thought was on the cards. Weather's better for a start.

Artisanjam · 09/06/2017 18:02

I don't fancy Jeremy Hunt or andrea leadsom's chances of keeping s cabinet job. May owes Chris Grayling but he's useless. That will be an interesting one to watch.

IrenetheQuaint · 09/06/2017 18:04

Don't May and Gove loathe each other for historic reasons? She's definitely the grudge-bearing type.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 09/06/2017 18:04

I want the eu to reach out to our young. Offer them individual membership- why should they suffer like the rest of us?

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 18:06

Yes they should have the option for EU membership. Mine are lucky dual citizenship bring sorted.

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 18:08

Does anyone know if it's it local councils that organise this?

Yes it is and they had to do it straight after the local elections as well. I know a number of election officials who had holiday booked for after the locals who had to cancel them when the snap GE was called. They must be exhausted and I hope they are all having a much deserved rest.

re no Tory spokesperson on BBC, etc, this is very May anyway. She doesn't seem to accept that it's her job to communicate her policies anyway. Paul Goodman wrote an article about her approach on ConservativeHome asking 'What do Cabinet Ministers do all day?'. Quite.

TheElementsSong · 09/06/2017 18:12

Ruth Davidson says we must now "seek an open Brexit" putting the economy first. You are now seeing her use her new clout.

Davidson says the UK must pursue the "freest possible trade" with the European Union.

Ruth is singing sweet music to my ears.

Peregrina · 09/06/2017 18:13

Do you mean the tellers? They are party activitists so it's some other activitst who draws up the rota (- the sort of person who can make you feel guilty and not be able to say No when asked. Always useful people to have around when jobs need dishing out).

If you mean the staff doing the actual counting of the ballots, they are recruited by the councils organising the election. As are the polling station staff. They all get paid, but it's a long day, so you earn your money.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 18:13

woman aren't they just wonderful. And now they are empowered engagement will increase.

prettybird · 09/06/2017 18:18

Superficial I know but does anyone else think that May bought that lovely Tory Blue suit to wear as a "victory suit", never expecting that it would be tainted by her less than glorious lack of an overall majority? I don't remember seeing it before
