WELLLLL

Its just before 2.00am.

So far its the YouGov model all the way. Still a long way to go but, the Cons are not getting the top of their target list and Labour are doing very well in seats they just 'shouldn't be'.

Corbyn is now favourite to take the poison chalice of Brexit, but they may not be the largest party yet.

This is looking right now like 1974 not 1983.

May's potted regardless. I look forward to her resignation speech. Its still entirely possible that our next government is a Tory Minority under another leader.

The LDs are having a rough night so far. They are loosing deposits all over the place as they are squeezed out. But they still might hold the balance of power yet. Though they are pledged not to go into coalition.

Another election in the autumn? Brexit delayed and going soft and squishy?

The SNP as a protest against Labour, then the Tories against the SNP. That is exactly what happened yesterday - thanks for the explanation howabout, some of the Scottish results looked bonkers.

BigChocFrenzy · 09/06/2017 19:18

Big losers too:
Ipsos Mori, ICM, Com Res, ORB, BMG, PanelBase, Opinium

and of course Ashcroft who gave a 200 margin for seat lead - and still the result was outside this Grin

YouGov (their big model, not the regular poll) and Survation win the smug bastards trophy

BigChocFrenzy · 09/06/2017 19:24

Your master has spoken
Tory Crispin Blunt, Reigate MP told The Surrey Mirrorr^:

“Like everyone else I was astonished.

Some people say the electorate never get it wrong, clearly they have got it wrong. Hmm

They've made it clearly tough for any party to form a government."

HashiAsLarry · 09/06/2017 19:28

Some people say the electorate never get it wrong, clearly they have got it wrong
We believe in the will of the people, some of these voters were clearly not the people Hmm

ElenaGreco123 · 09/06/2017 19:33

I just do not get why people are so opposed to having coalitions and hung parliament. Voters clearly want co-operation, coalition, consensus.

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 19:38

Protest is being planned for tomorrow against May and the DUP coalition.

Hilary Benn being a complete hypocrite on C4 news just now. Trying to laugh off his stabbing JC in the back after the Referendum as a family tiff.

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 19:39

I thinkElena that there are some people who, like Trump, can only think of things in terms of winning or losing. The idea of compromise is just not something they believe applies to them or would ever be desirable.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 19:40

My son's friend works for survation...well done you!

A heart warming article from one of them there young people about the young boy mobilisation
www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/how-britains-youth-vote-general-election-swung-with-record-numbers-of-young-voters-a3561186.html

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 19:40

not young boy! Young people!

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 19:41

He was doing that on R4 in the early hours of the morning Noah. Gave me and DH a right good laugh at 4am.

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 19:43

I must say that this election has really demonstrated how everyone's vote does count and how much impact it can have. I am so glad that after all these young people got out and voted they can now see what difference they made. Well done them. Smile

A Tale of The Brexiteers

BestIsWest · 09/06/2017 19:49

Would there be any Tories whose conscience is so offended by the alliance with DUP that they might form a break away group? A la SDP? Well, I can dream.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 19:49

I've said it elsewhere but the young generation are humanist

They can see the perils not just for their housing education jobs etc but for the world especially climate change

Love em. We've bought our little humanists up well x

Corcory · 09/06/2017 19:50

Citroen - Not all of Scotland wants to stay in the EU 1 Million people in Scotland voted out.
My part of Scotland turned Liberal from Conservative in the 1960s and had been LD up until 2015 when the SNP got in. So now the massive majority gained by the Conservatives this time is almost unknown in living memory. I'm not to sure that the SNP vote in 2015 was a vote against Labour/Glasgow dominance in our area, there is such a low labour vote here. But I do think the Con. vote this time round is partly a protest vote against SNP and their insistence on another indi referendum. I would also say that I feel that a fairly high proportion of the out vote last year in Scotland came from the areas that have now turned blue.

HashiAsLarry · 09/06/2017 19:51

I was about to say what bigly said. Some people think politics is like football, you pick you side and a pummelling is what it's all about.

woman12345 · 09/06/2017 19:51

Protest is being planned for tomorrow against May and the DUP coalition.
Thanks Bigly. The sun is out!

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 19:53

I am starting to think that as public opinion builds about the DUP (remember for most people they were probably not even on their radar before this morning) it could start to rattle the moderate Tories quite a bit. This could be a real problem for May and I can't see any way for her to resolve it. Protests are already being planned for tomorrow over the coalition. This is not going to be comfortable for the conservatives.

HashiAsLarry · 09/06/2017 19:55

Love em. We've bought our little humanists up well
I may have pointed out that mine and the generations below will never get out in services what we pay in taxation, unlike previous generations who take out more - with the added caveat that the older generation should be proud that we love those services so much we want to pay more for them Grin

BiglyBadgers · 09/06/2017 19:57

The DUP is everything that these young voters stand against. They are not going to sit back quietly while their vote is brushed aside. Due to the wonders of the internet they have been sharing in the protest movement in America grown in response to Trump and are ready to join with their own if needed. The kick arse basically. Grin

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 09/06/2017 20:02

Hashi with the current structure yes. Let's see how the parties react to a hopefully permenantly engaged youth. They will have to finally appeal to them too and give to them not just take

We need a restructure of some the fundamentals of our country to take the many into account.....

After Murdoch and May have been fucked over I finally have some hope.

citroenpresse · 09/06/2017 20:02

You can be against an indyref2 because it's an unstable policy promise whatever you think of the outcome, and am not sure that areas turning blue means pro-Brexit. Lots of Tory remainers. 62% remain is a pretty strong leave vote (but not absolutely not 'all of Scotland' true).

woman12345 · 09/06/2017 20:07

Think this has moved on from 'brexit' (which never existed in the first place). It's back to the old demarcations, which is bad news for the nigels. No offence to nigels. Smile

So, train into town again tomorrow, thanks biglybadgers: it'll be nice to celebrate June 8th 2017.

Why May doing a deal with the DUP is crackers and why John Major didn't enter a similar arrangement from Jonathan Powell, former chief British negotiator on Northern Ireland
