Not fussed about EU nursing applications going down, no.

Carolinesbeanies · 12/06/2017 19:21

Im looking forward to nursing apprenticeships and supported careers for life for our currently ignored school leavers. All good news to me.

More amusing news, turns out TM was 400 votes short of a majority! Thats democracy for ya Smile

Back to brexitland, anyone heard from the lovely Ms Miller of late? Or even Mr Branson? Its all very quiet over there.......which is a bonus Grin

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 19:42

Ms Miller's 'Best for Britain' campaign, with her targeting seats for tactical voting undoubtedly helped along the outcome of a hung parliament.

I'm afraid I don't share Ms Miller's vision of what's 'Best for Britain' at all; rather, I think it's the 'Worst for Britain'.

Well played Ms Miller - take a bow 👏 👏

YY to this.

About time we invested in our own youth instead of importing ready trained labour as a cost-saving exercise.

Nursing degree applications slump after NHS bursaries abolished

Applications by students in England to nursing and midwifery courses at British universities have fallen by 23% after the government abolished NHS bursaries, figures show.

well done Tory Brexiteers another victory Hmm

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 12/06/2017 19:56

I thought i had read that ghost

Blimey its depressing

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 19:58

Thanks for your congrats Ghost Wine

And heartfelt warm feelings to you also!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/06/2017 19:59

Blimey its depressing

Not in Brexit land - fucking your country up is in vogue apparently.

WrongTrouser · 12/06/2017 20:03

The Nursing and Midwifery Council think there may be another reason contributing to the fall. nb I agree with above, as a wealthy country we should be training our own nurses.

Last July, 1,304 nurses from the EU joined the Nursing and Midwifery Council register, compared to 46 in April this year, a fall of 96%

The Health Foundation said the findings could not be more stark and said they should act as a "wake-up call".

But the NMC said the introduction of English language testing for EU nurses is also likely to have played a role.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 12/06/2017 20:04

as a wealthy country we should be training our own nurses.

Yes we should, its a shame we aren't

Maybe we will start

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 20:06

Yes, it is indeed depressing.
Gina Miller, Jeremy Corbyn et al should be hanging their heads.

Shameful indeed to wilfully fuck up the stable governance of the country by engineering a hung parliament.

If only Jeremy had been honest about how deliverable his fantasy manifesto was.

I mean, for goodness sake - we've been saying for nearly a year on these threads that you cannot stop FoM and leave the single market, yet he punted that as a very real option.

Ho hum.

Perhaps it will dawn on him soon that he hasn't actually won the election though, that would be a start for sure.

Of course, John McDonell explicitly said on an interview that both him & JC would resign if they lost - I await their promised resignation soonest.

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 20:08

Sorry, mistake in the above post - I of course meant:

Stop FoM and stay in the single market.

Between scrapping bursaries, having Jeremy Hunt as health secretary and the NHS being an humanitarian crisis (British Red Cross) not exactly appealing career choice for young people is it?

Who got us in this mess?

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 20:10

The EU did ghost.

GrinGrin

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 12/06/2017 20:11

What has the drop in nursing applicants got to do with gina miller

I think its depressing that applications have gone down

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 12/06/2017 20:11

How did the eu scrap nursing bursaries?

Carolinesbeanies · 12/06/2017 20:13

"Ms Miller's 'Best for Britain' campaign, with her targeting seats for tactical voting undoubtedly helped along the outcome of a hung parliament."

Absolutely, and dear old Richard B., nearly had a heart attack having funded it LOL. Coo, he was lucky, Corbyn indeed got close....or indeed....hes still hovering in the wings......Grin

Of course they were abolished Ghost.....why shouldnt they be, when you can ship in cheap and trained labour, indefinately, from an endless stream of those desperate enough to leave their homes and families. Imported staffing equal zero training costs. (Thats the 'cheap' bit)

Its the whole body shop model that the EUs founded on. Stack em high, sell em cheap, and make me a billionaire. Sod the fact theyve socially engineered an entire continent to do so.

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 20:14

I was being facetious about the EU scrapping bursaries Rufus 😔

Gina Miller had to do with the properly targeted tactical voting that helped deliver the hung parliament Rufus - apparently because it was Better For Britain.

Charmageddon · 12/06/2017 20:16

YY.

This is what I want to see the back of for good - hence not wanting FoM to continue.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 12/06/2017 20:17

Oh i see

The eu didnt have anything to do with it...just our government

I think i am feeling slightly more sensitive about the NHS due to some recent family illness

I will leave you all to chortle about how funny it is that we may be having a shortage of nurses

Good night ghost

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 12/06/2017 20:18

Cross post charm

But I wouldn't have written my post differently

GhostofFrankGrimes · 12/06/2017 20:18

why shouldnt they be, when you can ship in cheap and trained labour, indefinately, from an endless stream of those desperate enough to leave their homes and families. Imported staffing equal zero training costs.

Tories caused Brexit - applications from EU countries down for NHS jobs
Tories scrap bursaries for nurses - applications from Brits down.

Please enlighten me as to how either of these things are good and how the NHS is sustainable at this rate. The 350 mil a week for the NHS bus has broke down.

Carolinesbeanies · 12/06/2017 20:19

Not that darn english testing again?!!!!! How bloody dare we. Theres only 1 letter between hypertensive and hypotensive. Fancy getting all arsy about that.
