I did not, Charmageddon. Luckily!
But since you ask...
I dreamt that a very beligerent, violent (yet oddly sexual??) Virginia Woolf was trying to attack me. I can't remember the reason now, but I think she did have one. I'm not even 100% sure what she looked like, but in the dream I knew it was her from her shoes. Confused

glorygloryhallelujah · 10/05/2017 09:00

Do you think Phil Hammond has something to tell us? Smile
The likeness is amazing.

Hello old Brexit friends, have not been round this way for many weeks Grin great to see the thread still going and the same old pub banter too. I am looking forward to June 8th !

Did anyone see QT last night - I caught end of it and was VV impressed with

Merryn Somerset Webb

IamSlave · 12/05/2017 20:14

Surfer I too am probably more Labour than anything else but I was horrified by whole immigration saga and felt cut adrift from them.

howabout · 13/05/2017 08:55

Merryn had me throwing things at the telly with her trite austerity economics - pretty sure she doesn't even believe herself. However she was spot on with her comment about the corrosive effect of the Nationalist agenda in Scotland.

I also liked the young guy in the audience very effectively challenging David Hayman's parochial assertions on Internationalism - pro Indy and pro EU exposed as the very opposite.

IamSlave · 13/05/2017 10:21

I didn't hear that how. I just heard her give brilliant answers on life after brexit for the young.

howabout · 13/05/2017 15:12

I agreed with Merryn on that too IamSlave Smile

twofingerstoEverything · 13/05/2017 15:19

I agreed with Merryn on that too
Well you would, wouldn't you, howabout? Grin

howabout · 13/05/2017 15:28

s'pose so twofingers Grin

surferjet · 13/05/2017 19:23

Yo IamSlave !
Looking forward to our reunion on June 8th - that's if remainers haven't killed us off! did you see the Ian McEwan article - fucking hell, can it get any worse. Grin

howabout · 13/05/2017 19:37

Ian McEwan needs to stick to writing stories about cutting up bodies and stashing them in European hotels - that is what he is good at - I follow him on FB but I just zone out all his pseudo politicking much like I do with actors pontificating on QT.

DorothyL · 13/05/2017 21:16

Ian McEwan wrote Saturday and Atonement, amongst many others

WrongTrouser · 14/05/2017 08:35

both of which I thought were good books but he should be ashamed of himself. That Convention he spoke at sounds like hell on earth. But I am devastated, devastated, I tell you to learn that Bob Geldof "resents people who voted leave". I will never feel good about myself again Sad

WrongTrouser · 14/05/2017 08:55

Michael Gove speaking at the Convention.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=wwaEo1aPdQU

I was following tweets of a young woman who tweeted that speakers kept talking about young people's voice not being heard in the referendum, then booing any young person whose views they disagreed with.

David Goodhart (Road to Somewhere) got booed for presenting data questioning some of the assumptions about leave voters.

I think you get the picture .....

howabout · 14/05/2017 09:38

'It wasn't only wickedness and scheming that made people unhappy, it was confusion and misunderstanding; above all, it was the failure to grasp the simple truth that other people are as real as you.' – Atonement

A wee quote for Geldolf from McEwan. According to his ex McEwan is much better at writing about moral dilemmas than he is at exercising decent morals in his personal life - same could be said of Geldolf surely?

The Innocents was the book I was quoting earlier - highly recommend. Enduring Love is also brilliant.

howabout · 14/05/2017 10:04

#Govelove

Charmageddon · 14/05/2017 11:01

I like Michael Gove a lot (unpopular opinion on MN Grin).
I'd like to see him back in the cabinet if Tories are back in.

WrongTrouser · 14/05/2017 16:49

I found Ian McEwan's talk at the Convention. Starts about 7 mins in. I don't recommend it though - I got as far as when he got to the difference between remain voters and leave voters being that remainers don't threaten rape and haven't murdered anyone. Then I stopped. Horrid, bitter and nasty.

Does anyone really think this crap is helping anyone or anything?

howabout · 15/05/2017 08:58

It is a weird thing with writers and actors wrong - I wonder if they spend so much time seeking to inhabit the skin of others and projecting adopted intellectualised narratives that they lose all self awareness or ability to connect with others as themselves?

IamSlave · 19/05/2017 21:31

Yo Surfer.
Ian M THE author?

No Remainer has killed me off - I have been ultra distracted and busy. Smile

Looking forward to TM sweeping the board at the election, and looking forward to more of the same in the EU Grin

IamSlave · 19/05/2017 21:34

did anyone see the beautiful UK butterfly emerging from eu box anywhere I cant link....it says out and into the world. love it.

I think it depends on the writers...didnt a spy one back brexit?

IamSlave · 19/05/2017 21:37

Fredrick Forsyth.

hotmail124 · 19/05/2017 22:43

Israeli Defence Force is watching Nazi action here, with great interest, good luck ladies.

surferjet · 20/05/2017 20:03

Looking forward to TM sweeping the board at the election

Corbyn is making steady progress my friend, which is ok because he's committed to Brexit.
