Lol at Euro Wankers Grin

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 07:40

Yeah i agree with squishy

That world war one is dumb

The others are pretty funny though

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 07:45

Serious question

And i dont give a shiny shit who answers but it would be nice to have a serious answer form either party

What do we think will happen on wednesday?

Will it be a big speech, i assume nothing will actually happen but do you think they will give us a 'timetable' of events, will there be deadlines for stuff?

Or should i just not bother turning the news on for a few days til stuff starts happening

And yes i know we are looking at 2 years...

If anyone in RL says 'this is our independence day' i wont be responsible for my actions Smile

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 07:46

Oh and im asking the question because i really dont know

Not because i am trying to be 'clever'

IamWendy · 21/03/2017 07:50

Grin semi, dear old smallfox. At least she will always have her elite London club membership to cheer herself up with. Us lowly 'fuckwits' must make do with homemade Cake and the joy of victory!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/03/2017 07:53

I'd imagine the very dull negotiations over the next 2 yes will bore most leavers here. Attention spans and all that. Watch the value of sterling over the next 2 yes.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:02

I thought smallfox turned out to be a man

ghost to be fair i would rather things would just happen, its going to be boring to start with isnt it

SemiPermanent · 21/03/2017 08:03

I think it will be pretty uneventful Rufus tbh.
There'll be some stuff from Farage et al & other Brexiters obvs, but the actual practical/physical mechanics of it will be mundane I'd expect.

It's the significance of it rather than anything else - now they can start getting on with it rather than just wild speculation, and continued efforts to block it.

SemiPermanent · 21/03/2017 08:04

Xpost Rufus Smile

Was SmallFox a man?!
No surprises there then.

boredofbrexit · 21/03/2017 08:13

gender uncertain

boredofbrexit · 21/03/2017 08:15

I read that the government will act to protect free speech in schools and universities. Thats bound to upset a few.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:15

semi

Yeah i think when they imploded that the mask slipped a bit

Maybe i will look back at some of the posts

Not that it matters

IamWendy · 21/03/2017 08:16

I dunno Rufus, some of his\her wording in a particularly vile pm was very.....bitchy? It felt like a womans choice of words.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:20

That will be interesting bored

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:21

Maybe wendy

Apparently i have got to avoid the news as it will be really boring so maybe i will have a little look

Unless all the posts were deleted

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:28

I have found a smallfox so if its the same one (cant see the threads on advanced search)

Then it was a woman.

I wonder what i was reading then Confused

IamWendy · 21/03/2017 08:29

Lots were deleted for her shocking disablist slurs. I've pm'd you the pm she sent me. Crazy.

squishysquirmy · 21/03/2017 08:39

Rufus, here I my predictions for Wednesday:
TM will make some kind of statement (if not a full speech) but that it will be very short on content - lots of the old soundbites with maybe the odd new one chucked in. Blah blah will of the people blah blah best deal for Britain blah blah uniting the country. It will not contain anything too antagonistic.
Possibly Boris and other members of the official leave campaign will say something, but I hope that if they do it isn't unnecessarily antagonistic, and I hope that Nazi's aren't mentioned. Boris will probably write a column about it.

I don't expect there to be a timetable released, but it would be a pleasant surprise if they did, as it would show that they are better prepared than the impression they've given out so far.
The news will be full of the responses from other leading figures.
eg, Sturgeon will have something to say.
Jeremy Corbyn will be criticised for having nothing to say on it.
Farage et al will do that weird overjoyed-but-furious-but-gloating- thing.
Some (minor?) member of UKIP or someone will say something appalling that horrifies most people.

I hope that no-one says "this is our independence day!" to you in real life, because to be honest who talks like that? Even if I voted leave, I would think that person were a twat! The tabloids probably will have that o similar as a headline, so stay clear of newspaper stands if it annoys you.

Reminds me of this:

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:39

Well!! Shock

Anyway...boring subject

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 08:41

I like it squishy Grin

Its almost as if you have a crystal ball

I might write them down and tick as they happen

CountMagnus · 21/03/2017 08:50

do you think they will give us a 'timetable' of events, will there be deadlines for stuff?

I don't think they can give deadlines for much - an EU bloke (former high up trade negotiator, but can't remember his name, had been very senior in WTO) was being interviewed on R4 the other day and his opinion was that much of the 2 year period would be taken up by discussing the actual mechanics of the exit (what happens to people, who pays for what etc) and that it was unlikely that anything could be agreed on trade during that time.

His view was that the EU would want to agree the mechanics first before discussing trade options and they wouldn't (as the UK government is wanting) run these negotiations concurrently, and as a result trade would continue on an EEA/EFTA basis for an interim period, and that trade negotiations would be much more lengthy (5 to 7 years - especially because the UK doesn't have m/any experienced trade negotiators).

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 09:03

Thanks count

Very interesting...

Ds1 was thinking about a career in the civil service (to be fair it was more me)

But i think this year would be a fascinating time to join

Anon1234567890 · 21/03/2017 09:26

Next Wednesday will be our independence day!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 21/03/2017 09:31

Is doing that on purpose!! Make them stop

Olympiathequeen · 21/03/2017 09:44

Ooh the pub is under new management. Lovely.

Mine's a gin and elderflower cordial please.

I'll raise my glass to the previous incumbent and look forward to some lively barroom debate Grin
