We have heard much talk about "the will of the people" recently. If you are not one of the people supporting the Tory hard Brexit or "Brexit at any cost", you may be interested in "Stop the silence", which gives a voice to the rest of us - those who voted Leave thinking of a Norway-style model, those who thought they were saving the NHS, those who voted Remain. Please like on FB and re-tweet.

Biggsy, for some reason you seem to be confusing "little Englanders" with "English people". It's quite funny.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 27/02/2017 23:17

Oh thank god kaiji

I was trying to think of a way of posting what you have just posted

Couldnt think of anything...too tired

Kaija · 27/02/2017 23:26

I might just post quotes from that John Major speech from now on:

Stop the silence
ginghambox · 28/02/2017 00:19

I assume the "Little Englander" jibe was directed at me. And if so what is the problem with being English in England.
The wording on the refurendum was.
Remain a member of the European Union
Leave the European Union
which bit do yuo not understand?

ginghambox · 28/02/2017 00:20

apart from the youGrin

A4Document · 28/02/2017 00:22

Gina Miller has come in for much more abuse than her co-claimants in the A50 case, one of whom I know.

She is the lead claimant and spokesperson for the group, and therefore the most well-known.

Mistigri · 28/02/2017 05:34

biggsy

You're not a British citizen

I most certainly am a British citizen.

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 05:37

Is Gina Miller British?

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 05:42

Just looked her up - she's British, born in Guyana and came to live in London when she was 10 years old.

Mistigri · 28/02/2017 05:54

Her belief that having a large amount of money entitles her to get her way over others is what makes me despise her, her "assertiveness" and ethnic origin have nothing to do with that.

She took a valid legal case to court (we know it was valid, because she won). Do you really have a problem with that?

I didnt know much about her so I just googled her, and even the Telegraph has some good things to say about her charitable work and her campaigning to improve transparency in financial marketing and to reduce hidden pension charges.

olliegarchy99 · 28/02/2017 06:09

mistigri you said
I'd quite like - as someone with a direct interest in this (migrant using FoM rights) but who was disenfranchised in the referendum - to think that someone somewhere is standing up for my interests.
yet you say you are a British citizen - which is it? if you are a British citizen you were not denied a vote Hmm
We all have interests to be stood up for (and that includes the 17.4 million who want to 'leave')

ExitStage · 28/02/2017 06:19

Way back in post three A4document listed the people we had heard from about Brexit, including Charles Kennedy.

I assert this not to be true. He's been dead two years! Grin

Mistigri · 28/02/2017 06:31

if you are a British citizen you were not denied a vote hmm

Have you been asleep for the last year?

Millions of British citizens, some of them (like me) directly affected by the result, were denied a vote in the referendum. Some of them even brought a court case (alongside a certain Ms. Miller).

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 06:46

' Millions of British citizens, some of them (like me) directly affected by the result, were denied a vote in the referendum.'

I don't understand. Millions?
Did you not get your polling card through the post?

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 06:51

Actually I don't think you need a polling card to vote if you are on the electoral register.

Mistigri · 28/02/2017 06:51

I don't understand. Millions?
Did you not get your polling card through the post?

Jesus fucking Christ. Go and read about who was allowed to vote and who wasn't.

You might also read the tory manifesto while you're at it, because it promised to reinstate the vote of people like me - a promise for which there is a clear mandate but which I do not expect to be kept.

HPFA · 28/02/2017 06:52

I wasn't sure about the campaign but the responses on here have convinced me. I am absolutely fed up of being told by what I am sure is a small (but very vocal) subsection of Leavers that I have lost my right to have an opinion on our future relationship with the EU because I voted Remain. My view is that we should seek to remain in the Single Market a la Norway (an option which many Leavers seemed to support before the Referendum) as part of the deal for us leaving the EU.

If you want to disagree with this then fine, you have a perfect right to argue your case. Just stop the insults and stop pretending that you have some kind of mandate to dictate every nuance of the Exit negotiations.

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 06:54

'Jesus fucking Christ. Go and read about who was allowed to vote and who wasn't'

There is no need to be so rude. I'm only asking.

Why couldn't you vote?

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 06:56

'You might also read the tory manifesto while you're at it, because it promised to reinstate the vote of people like me'

What do you mean - people like you? Why not just explain for situation?

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 06:57

Your situation.

Kaija · 28/02/2017 07:00

She is the lead claimant and spokesperson for the group, and therefore the most well-known.

She received a huge quantity of racist and sexist abuse, and rape/death threats.

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 07:02

Mistigri

What is your situation - are you not able to say why you couldn't vote?

Kaija · 28/02/2017 07:03

I assume the "Little Englander" jibe was directed at me. And if so what is the problem with being English in England.

Another one who doesn't understand the difference between being English and being a little Englander. This is an education.

Inkanta · 28/02/2017 07:04

Are you a British expat Mistigri?
