I'm looking forward to Tuesday too at least we will see some idea of where things are heading. Dh is very pessimistic but my mood remains buoyant A50 in March 17 full exit with or without trade deals in or before March 19. I really hope May sticks to her timetable for A50.

SemiPermanent · 15/01/2017 17:36

Me too.
Will be good to see things starting to get moving - it's getting beyond tedious reading/listening to endless regurgitations of the same 'it's all shit, it's all going to be shit, we're all doomed, what can we do to drag out the inevitable for as long as possible so that we can keep wailing about how shit it all is'.

Roll on March & A50 triggered.

RortyCrankle · 15/01/2017 17:48

Second and third that - no more waiting - we need more doing.

surferjet · 15/01/2017 17:56

Even the most die hard remainer accepts Brexit is happening now, so let's just get the fuck out.

I'm interested to know what Leaver's think of Theresa May's strategy as published in the FT today.

I think in essence it could be summarised as "the EU must give us the single market access terms we want or we will set up a low tax ultra free trade state on its doorstep".

How many are happy with this? Genuinely interested. What if it isn't an empty threat and we end up with the ultra liberal (economically) low tax free trade state being proposed?

Rorty, glad you made it in safely Smile

I too am looking forward to Tuesday and I hope TM goes hard ball. She has too.

Grin @ the posters.

SemiPermanent · 15/01/2017 19:51

I'll wait until her strategy is actually released properly on Tuesday tbh Stripey.
All that's available now is speculation based on leaks and subjective interpretations.

surferjet · 15/01/2017 20:00

Hi StripeyMonkey1
I haven't read the article so can't comment really - but tbh I rarely comment anyway as things change all the time, I'm just waiting for A50 in March & we'll take it from there.

Stripey - TBH I don't take anything in the media too seriously, they like to feed the public tit bits (the more controversial the better) and try to whip everyone into a frenzy, so I refuse to buy into any of that. In the same way I am not buying into the whole Russian thing at the moment, way too convenient (and believable to the general public) to paint Russia as the bad guy and its all hit the papers in the space of about a week!!. Life is to short to raise your blood pressure or go grey any earlier than necessary.

Figmentofmyimagination · 15/01/2017 20:25

Hey Rorty

Which specific European Court rulings are you most looking forward to seeing reversed?

StripeyMonkey1 · 15/01/2017 20:27

Surferjet, time4chocolate - thanks for responding

Does anyone have any different views? Do most Leave voters not believe that we will be negotiating on this basis?

I ask because it is the best stab I have seen at setting out a negotiating strategy so far. I'm not that keen on it, (yep, I'm a remainer), and it's high stakes (we stand to have a very different country if we are forced to go ultra free trade), but at least there is a possible 'win' for the UK out of it if the EU were to back down.

time4chocolate · 15/01/2017 20:27

Sorry - just re-read my post (was posted in a hurry) and I sound a bit twatish (obviously not intentional) Blush. Suffice to say I will just wait and see what TM says on Tuesday.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 15/01/2017 20:29

For those wanting answers to questions they pose, I believe the technique in the BA is to grab leavers on the way to the loo, thrust them into a stark skanky looking chair, (the one in the corner under the bare light bulb) and start the interrogation there.

It's good to have you here. Wine
Hopefully a few leavers will pop in & give their views. Personally, I'm confident our negotiators will get the best deal possible for the UK. Of course the EU will try & make things difficult because they don't want us to come out of this better off, because if we do, all the other ( rich ) EU members will want to leave.

I stopped answering questions from Remainers about five months ago - I found it to be a completely pointless waste of time and effort. I'm just here for the booze Grin

Damn Debbie I thought I chopped that chair up for firewood - have they sneaked another one in?

StripeyMonkey1 · 15/01/2017 20:43

That's ok time4chocolate. Yes, all is subject to confirmation from TM on Tuesday. I reckon that all the contentious stuff has put put out there today though, to draw any fire from the press early and give her a smoother path when she speaks next week. We shall see..
