does anyone know the time for Mays speech tomorrow?

time4chocolate · 16/01/2017 16:22

Debbie - I don't think a time has officially been released yet but I may be wrong.

Good article howabout Smile

howabout · 16/01/2017 16:23

Fair brightened my day Semi Smile

Tryingtosaveup · 16/01/2017 20:57

Large glass of red please.
Can't wait for TM's speech tomorrow and I thought Philip Hammond's ideas were like a breath of fresh air.
I would like my Brexit quick and hard please

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 16/01/2017 21:25

Me too Trying, hard and fast Grin the more I think of it the more aghast I am that we just sleep walked into this un holy mess Angry thank goodness we are coming out of it.

Tryingtosaveup · 16/01/2017 23:08

Just looked at the front pages of tomorrow's papers on the BBC website. Looks like I will have a nice birthday. Hard and fast it is. And if the EU don't like it then Philip Hammond will sort the buggers out. YAY
Is that champagne on ice for tomorrow?

InfiniteSheldon · 17/01/2017 07:41

They voted to leave the European Union and embrace the world. And they did so with their eyes open: accepting that the road ahead will be uncertain at times, but believing that it leads toward a brighter future for their children – and their grandchildren too.
‘It is the job of this Government to deliver it. That means more than negotiating our new relationship with the EU. It means taking the opportunity of this great moment of national change to step back and ask ourselves what kind of country we want to be.
‘My answer is clear. I want this United Kingdom to emerge from this period of change stronger, fairer, more united and more outward-looking than ever before.
‘I want us to be a secure, prosperous, tolerant country – a magnet for international talent and a home to the pioneers and innovators who will shape the world ahead.
‘I want us to be a truly global Britain – the best friend and neighbour to our European partners, but a country that reaches beyond the borders of Europe too. A country that gets out into the world to build relationships with old friends and new allies alike.

Pretty good and a fair answer to the interrogation chair we should get that printed and laminated and hand out free with pork scratching Grin

In other news Mark Carney has been found to be a traitorous arse and deported ignominiously overnight for lying to the British people (I may have dreamt that last bit)

On a tangent, I was watching Keir Starmer waffling a load of nothing on Daily Politics last night and realised what it is about him that irritates me - the only bits of his face that move are his eyelids & lips.
It's weird and unnerving, quite frankly.

SemiPermanent · 17/01/2017 09:28

Has everyone polished up their leathery hides to cope with the inevitable onslaught?!

I'm sure there'll be much hyperbole and panic spewed forth from many a well-appointed, warm suburban kitchen....

InfiniteSheldon · 17/01/2017 09:35

I ventured onto the 'Independence ' thread just to give a bit of support and perspective lots of name calling but I survived. I do think it's important not to let the more robust Remain poster completely squash any other view point.

Grin Happy birthday trying

Bearbehind · 17/01/2017 10:17

I wouldn't worry too much about an 'onslaught' on here from Remainers.

The comment upthread about a Ladybird books was quite apt as the standard of discussion on this latest thread has descended lower than I thought possible.

It's now simply flag flying rhetoric from people who don't care what happens as long as we are no longer part of the EU.

Theres absoltely no point in discussing this with people who can't eleborate on the things they say because they are just regurgitating hyperbole they've heard elsewhere. Still, it looks like TMs speech will give you a few more platitudes to bandy about.

howabout · 17/01/2017 10:33

Happy Birthday Trying Brew Cake

surferjet · 17/01/2017 10:36

In some ways that's true Bearbehind - the main thing is we're leaving the EU & that's what we're all really happy about. Plus, we're all a bit bored of 'discussing' everything Brexit related, I think this thread is more like Twitter, short little posts but to the point.
It's how Trump does it Grin

Loving the BBC guide to Brexit. Loads and loads of answers and a happy-go-lucky antidote for anyone inadvertently venturing into the doom and gloom vortex.

<a class="break-all" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32810887?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-38635035&link_location=live-reporting-story" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32810887?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-38635035&link_location=live-reporting-story

To the pp worried about how the NHS will afford healthcare for all the UK pensioners in Spain. As I suspected it already pays for their cover to the Spanish health system. To all those worried about the fate of the lesser spotted hipster it turns out rare species will not lose protection over night. To all those throwing bricks at KS on Newsnight yesterday turns out if the EU Parliament fail to ratify Brexit deal we just leave anyway.

My favourite bit:

"Will the EU still use English?
Yes, says BBC Europe editor Katya Adler. There will still be 27 other EU states in the bloc, and others wanting to join in the future, and the common language tends to be English - "much to France's chagrin", she says."

I will however be continuing to annoy DH with my indiscriminate abuse of Frentish.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 17/01/2017 11:36

Maybe we need to help change the common language to German?

Merkel has made a plea to her business leaders to stand with her - over Britain cherry picking access to single market and trade deals. She is asking business leaders to put politics over business Confused ......
